Narasingam is a village located 8 km from Madurai on the road to Melur, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is named for the nearby cave temple dedicated to Yoga Narasimha Perumal, at the foot of the Yanaimalai hills. This temple was constructed in 770 A.D. by Madurakavi alias Marankaari who was the minister of the Madurai King Parantaka Nedunjadaiyan . There is a front mandapam (court). The sculpture of Narasinga Perumal is carved out of the hill itself. The temple is a good example of the cave sculpturing of the Pandya Kingdom. In front of this there is a stone temple for the goddess Narasingavalli. This place, though not a Divyadesam sanctified by Azhwars' hymns, is situated between two holy places — Alagar Koyil in the north and Thirumohur in the east.

Othakadai is a panchayat town in Madurai district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Ultra College of Engineering and Technology was established in the year 2009. It is a technical institution offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various disciplines of engineering and technology. The college is located 6 km from Mattuthavani Bus Terminus on Chennai-Madurai highway. It was the first women's engineering college in Madurai. The Thirumohoor Kalamegaperumal Temple (also known as Thirumohoor or Tirumogoor temple) is a Hindu temple near Melur, Madurai district in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. Constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture, the temple is glorified in the Nalayira Divya Prabandham, the early medieval Tamil canon of the Alvar saints from the 6th–9th centuries CE. It is one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Kalamega Perumal and his consort Lakshmi as Mohanavalli Thayar. As per Hindu legend, the presiding deity is believed to have appeared as the divine enchantress Mohini to allure the asuras to support the devas, the celestial deities. The temple is also known as Mohanapuram and Mohanakshetram.A granite wall surrounds the temple, enclosing all its shrines and three of its four bodies of water. The temple has a five-tiered rajagopuram, the temple's gateway tower and a huge temple tank in front of it. The temple is believed to have been built by the Pandyas, with later additions from the Madurai Nayaks. Six daily rituals and three yearly festivals are held at the temple, of which the Brahmotsavam, celebrated during the Tamil month of Vaikasi (April–May), being the most prominent. The temple is maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Ilandaikulam is a village in Madurai district, India. It is about 2 km (1.2 mi) from Maatuthavani bus stand. It is also very close to the ring road. The Tamil Nadu government has plans to open the IT park very soon here. Elcot has proposed that the IT park will be built in 50 acres (200,000 m2).

Devadoss Hospital is a private hospital located in Madurai, Tamil Nadu was founded by orthopedist Prof. A. Devadoss. The hospital was inaugurated in 2007. The hospital got substantial publicity in 2019 when a Nepal women an acid attack survivor Bindabasini Kansakar was admitted for treatment of face transplant, and hospital reconstructed the face of the woman survivor by almost 90 per cent of the face. In 2023 laboratories run there started using first automated artificial joint surgery robot system in southern Tamil Nadu.

Solamalai College of Engineering Madurai, was established by the Arun Ram kumar Educational Trust and the college started functioning during the academic year 1995-96 with the approval of All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and Government of Tamil Nadu. This college was formerly known as Raja college of engineering and technology until it was taken over by Solaimalai group in the year 2014. The college is located 6 km from Anna Bus stand on Madurai-Sivagangai road.

Mattuthavani is a neighborhood on the outskirts of Madurai city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

M.G.R. Bus Stand, commonly known as Mattuthavani Bus Stand, is an integrated bus terminus in the city of Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. This is the second-largest bus terminus in Tamil Nadu after Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.R. Bus Terminus in Chennai. It is one of the busiest bus terminals in south Tamil Nadu and one of the most important hubs in the state. In 2003, increased traffic led the Madurai Municipal Corporation to construct a new mofussil bus terminus that would complement the existing Pazhanganatham and Anna bus stations. After completion of the Madurai Ring Road project, the Mattuthavani Integrated Bus Terminus (MIBT) was constructed at a cost of ₹100 million (US$1.3 million) rupees, spread over an area of 18 acres (7.3 ha). The government of Tamil Nadu renamed it M.G.R. Bus Stand on 31 October 2017 to honor AIADMK founder and former chief minister of Tamil Nadu M. G. Ramachandran (M.G.R.). However, the change of name was not well received by the locals. It was also ambiguous since many bus stands and railway stations already bear the name of the late chief minister. The people trolled and criticized the change of name in social media.
