Whittington Green School

New Whittington is a village located in the Borough of Chesterfield, in Derbyshire, England, near to Whittington Moor and Old Whittington. It is also to the west of Barrow Hill and Staveley. In 2011 the Barrow Hill and New Whittington ward had a population of 5,903.Revolution House, now a museum, is located between New and Old Whittington.

The Chesterfield transmitting station is a television and radio transmitter which serves the town of Chesterfield in Derbyshire and surrounding areas. It transmits digital television which it is line fed from Sheffield (Crosspool) (also known as the Tapton Hill transmitting station). The Chesterfield transmitter sits on a hillside to the north of the town and transmits digital television and radio services. Before the digital switchover, it was one of the few transmitters in the UK to transmit digital television, but not analogue channel Channel 5, and a number of its digital multiplexes were transmitted on the same channels as Emley Moor so it was not uncommon for co-channel interference to be an issue; similar problems still exist with Sutton Coldfield and Waltham (see external links). These co-channel issues with Emley meant that its output was attenuated to the North. The transmitter is vertically polarised as are most relays/repeaters. The altitude of the transmitting aerials is 231 metres, the actual tower being around 50 metres (164 ft) in height and of a similar design to many of the repeaters around the UK. In the early 2000s, an extra smaller tower was added at the side of the larger tower possibly for mobile phone use. Digital radio is broadcast from this site and it is just possible to receive digital radio in Chesterfield from other transmitters, specifically Tapton Hill in Sheffield. From 8 November 2007, the transmitter has broadcast the Digital One DAB Multiplex. Since then, the BBC National DAB Multiplex and the Bauer South Yorkshire have been added. The Chesterfield transmitter is owned by Arqiva (previously NTL).

Sheepbridge and Brimington railway station was on the outskirts of the town of Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The station was on the Great Central Chesterfield Loop which ran between Staveley Central and Heath Junction (just north of Heath railway station) on the Great Central Main Line. The station opened on 4 June 1892, was renamed to Brimington on 18 June 1951 and closed on 2 January 1956.

Sheepbridge railway station was a station in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England. It was built by the Midland Railway in 1870 on what is known to railwaymen as the "New Road" to Sheffield. This bypassed the North Midland Railway's original line, which had avoided Sheffield due to the gradients involved and came to be known as the "Old Road".Between 1897 and 1957 it was known as Sheepbridge and Whittington Moor. It was only used for passengers, goods being dealt with at a depot on a nearby branch. The platforms were built over the highway, with timber waiting rooms without canopies. The brick built booking office was at road level on Station Road with footpaths to the platforms, the up line to London was accessed via the footpath under the station bridge . It was closed in 1967. The booking office building still exists and is currently in use as a television repair shop. After leaving Chesterfield the line diverged at Tapton Junction, Sheepbridge marking the beginning of the long 1 in 100 climb through Broomhouse Tunnel to Unstone

Whittington Moor is a village in the Chesterfield district, in Derbyshire, England. It is situated to the north of Chesterfield, and south of Old Whittington, and New Whittington. SMH Group Stadium, the home ground of Chesterfield F.C. is located in Whittington Moor.

Old Whittington is a village in the Borough of Chesterfield in Derbyshire, England. Old Whittington is 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Chesterfield and 10 miles (16 km) south-east of Sheffield. The population of the Old Whittington ward at the 2011 Census was 4,181. The village lies on the River Rother. Population in 1901 was 9,416. The parish church of St Bartholomew was restored after its destruction by fire, except for the tower and spire, in 1895. The town manufactured stoneware bottles, other earthenware and bricks. There were also coal mines and ironworks.

The population of the ward was 5,903 at the 2011 Census.Barrow Hill is a small semi-rural residential area situated approximately four miles from Chesterfield Town Centre. Whittington is split into two villages - Old and New; Old Whittington is a separate ward.

Whittington railway station is a former railway station on the southern edge of New Whittington, Derbyshire, England.

Technique Stadium (formerly known as b2net Stadium and Proact Stadium) is an all-seater football stadium in Whittington Moor, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, on the site of the former Dema Glassworks. It is the home of Chesterfield FC, replacing the Saltergate Recreation Ground as the club's stadium from the start of the 2010–11 season. Since 2019, it has also been the home stadium of Sheffield United U23s and Sheffield United Women.When it hosts England youth matches it is known as Chesterfield FC Stadium. It has a capacity of approximately 10,500, cost £13,000,000 to build and was designed by Sheffield-based architects Ward McHugh Associates.The stadium staged England under-19 and under-21 fixtures in 2011 and May 2012 with nearly 10,000 fans, and hosted Elton John in 2012.

Broomhouse Tunnel was on the Midland Main Line between Chesterfield and Sheffield. It was built by the Midland Railway in 1870 on what is known to railwaymen as the "New Road" to Sheffield. This bypassed the North Midland Railway's original line, which came to be known as "Old Road", and which had avoided Sheffield due to the gradients involved, see topographical map of the Sheffield area. Broomhouse Tunnel was 92 yards long, through a narrow ridge a mile past Sheepbridge. It was opened out to become a cutting in 1969 (see Railway Magazine July 1969 p. 409, plus (picture) Nov 1969 p. 636). The line diverged just north of Chesterfield at Tapton Junction with a steady three and a half mile climb at 1 in 100, through Sheepbridge and Unstone stations, before a short drop to Dronfield. From there, it climbed to the summit before Bradway Tunnel thence to what would become the junction through Dore and Totley and the line to Manchester, continuing to Beauchief.
