Electoral district of North Adelaide

The Adelaide Park Lands are the figure-eight of land spanning both banks of the River Torrens between Hackney and Thebarton and separating the City of Adelaide area (which includes both Adelaide city centre and North Adelaide) from the surrounding suburbia of greater metropolitan Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia. They were laid out by Colonel William Light in his design for the city, and originally consisted of 2,300 acres (930 ha) "exclusive of 32 acres (13 ha) for a public cemetery". One copy of Light's plan shows areas for a cemetery and a Post and Telegraph Store on West Tce, a small Government Domain and Barracks on the central part of North Tce, a hospital on East Tce, a Botanical Garden on the River Torrens west of North Adelaide, and a school and a storehouse south-west of North Adelaide.Over the years there has been constant encroachment on the Park Lands by the state government and others. Soon after their declaration in 1837, 370 acres (150 ha) "were lost to 'Government Reserves'". In 1902, The Herald noted that a total area of 489 acres (198 ha) had been taken from park lands. In 2018, the loss is about 568 acres (230 ha).The part of the Park Lands not in the "Government Reserves" have been managed and maintained by the Adelaide City Council since 1852, and since February 2007, the Adelaide Park Lands Authority has advised council and government.On 7 November 2008 the Federal Minister for Environment, Heritage and the Arts, Peter Garrett, announced that the Adelaide Park Lands had been entered in the Australian National Heritage List as "an enduring treasure for the people of South Australia and the nation as a whole". In fact, large areas of the Adelaide Park Lands along the north side of the complete length of North Tce, and along the north side of Port Road from West Tce to the Thebarton Police Barracks, (in Parks 11, 12, 26 and 27), and also the rail reserves, (in Parks 25, 26 and 27), were excluded from the "Adelaide Park Lands and City Layout National Heritage Place" listing.

Thorngate is an inner northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the City of Prospect. This small suburb is one of South Australia's most expensive. Although sales are rare, houses on Fitzroy Terrace and Churcher Street were valued well over $1 million in 2006.

O'Connell Street is the main north–south route through North Adelaide, South Australia and is heavily-trafficked by north-suburban commuters to Adelaide city centre. At its northern end it intersects with Barton Terrace West and the commencement of Prospect and Main North roads. At its southern end it abuts Brougham Gardens and intersects with Brougham Place and the commencement of King William Road. It is considered to be one of two major shopping and dining strips within North Adelaide, the other being Melbourne Street.

The Fire Station Inn, also known as the North Adelaide Fire Station, at 82 Tynte Street, is a historic fire station building in North Adelaide, South Australia. It was built as a shop in 1866. It was renovated to serve as a fire station in 1904. As of 2018, it is used as tourist accommodation.It was listed as a State Heritage Place on the South Australian Heritage Register on 11 September 1986.

Piccadilly Cinema(s), formerly Piccadilly Theatre and Forum Cinema (The Forum), and also known as The Piccadilly, is a cinema located on the corner of O'Connell Street and Childers Street in North Adelaide, South Australia.

Medindie (formerly also known as Medindee or Medindi) is an inner northern suburb of Adelaide the capital of South Australia. It is located adjacent to the Adelaide Park Lands, just north of North Adelaide, and is bounded by Robe Terrace to the south, Northcote Terrace to the east, Nottage Terrace to the north and Main North Road to the northwest. The upper class suburb is mainly residential and contains many fine homes, and a number of historic mansions: "Willyama", (the Aboriginal name for Broken Hill), at 12 The Avenue was named so by Charles Rasp, the boundary rider who pegged a mining claim that became Broken Hill, after he bought it in 1887 from Oscar Görger, a local doctor/surgeon; "The Briars" at 15 Briar Avenue, built for George Hawker in 1856, is now the McBride Hospital; and there are many fine houses along Robe Terrace.In 1884 the Brown sisters established a school on Mann Terrace on the north east fringe of North Adelaide. The school moved to Northcote Terrace north of the current location in 1885 and to its current address at 30 Northcote Terrace in 1893. Initially called the Medindie School and Kindergarten, it acquired the designation of Wilderness School in 1918. It is now a girls-only private school. Medindie's median property sale price in the June quarter of 2010 was $1,657,000. The suburb regularly ranks with the highest median sale price in the South Australian Real Estate Institute's quarterly sales statistics. The top sale price in the 12 months to 21 March 2012 was $2,350,000 for a 4 bedroom house on Dutton Terrace.

Blackfriars Priory School is a private Roman Catholic school for boys situated in Prospect, an inner-northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is conducted by the Dominican Friars of the Province of the Assumption.

The Division of Adelaide is an Australian electoral division in South Australia and is named for the city of Adelaide, South Australia's capital. At the 2016 federal election, the electorate covered 76 km², is centred on the Adelaide city centre and spanning from Grand Junction Road in the north to Cross Road in the south and from Portrush Road in the east to Marion and Holbrooks Road in the west, taking in suburbs including Ashford, Enfield, Goodwood, Kent Town, Keswick, Kilburn, Mansfield Park, Maylands, Northgate, Norwood, Parkside, Prospect, Rose Park, St Peters, Toorak Gardens, Torrensville, Thebarton, Unley and Walkerville.

Adelaide is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. The 22.8 km² state seat of Adelaide currently consists of the Adelaide city centre including North Adelaide and suburbs to the inner north and inner north east: Collinswood, Fitzroy, Gilberton, Medindie, Medindie Gardens, Ovingham, Thorngate, Walkerville, most of Prospect, and part of Nailsworth. The federal division of Adelaide covers the state seat of Adelaide and additional suburbs in each direction. The electorate's name comes from the city which it encompasses, which is named after the British queen Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen.

Central District No. 1 was an electoral district for the South Australian Legislative Council from 1913 until 1975. It was created by the Constitution Act Further Amendment Act 1913, which divided the Central District into two districts, each to elect four members. The size of the Legislative Council was to remain at 18 until the next general election, and increase to 20 by adding a new member for each of the two new districts. From its creation until the next general election (which was held on 27 March 1915), Central District No. 1 comprised the extant Assembly districts of Adelaide and Port Adelaide. The act also redrew the Assembly electoral districts from the next election. From then, Central District No. 1 would comprise the new Assembly districts of Adelaide, North Adelaide, Port Adelaide and West Torrens.

The Prescott Schools are a collection of independent Seventh-day Adventist co-educational primary and secondary day schools located in various suburbs in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. Prescott Secondary College is a secondary school with year levels beginning from Year 7 through to Year 12 and is located in the Adelaide suburb of Prospect. Prescott College Southern is a primary and secondary school catering for the southern Adelaide suburbs and is located in Morphett Vale. Prescott Primary Northern is located in Para Vista and caters for students from R to Year 7. The schools are connected with other Seventh-day Adventist schools throughout the Oceania region. It is part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church's worldwide educational system, the world's second-largest Christian school system.

North Adelaide Post Office is a heritage-listed post office at 166 Tynte Street, North Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. It was added to the Australian Commonwealth Heritage List on 8 November 2011.
