Riverwoods is a village in Lake County, Illinois, United States. It was established on the banks of the Des Plaines River in 1959 by local steel magnate Jay Peterson. Per the 2020 census, the population was 3,790. The corporate headquarters of Discover Financial and CCH are located there, as well as Orphans of the Storm, an animal shelter founded in 1928 by famous dancer Irene Castle. The village used to host the annual "Arts & Riverwoods" festival.

The Lincolnshire Commons is an upscale lifestyle center located in Lincolnshire, Illinois. The center opened in 2006 and hosts numerous high-end restaurants, and promeninent retailers such as Cheesecake Factory, Jos. A. Bank, DSW and LensCrafters. The 140,000-square-foot (13,000 m2) center is a popular shopping area in Chicago's affluent north suburbs. Regal Cinemas across the street opened November 20, 1998 as City Park 20 by Regal Entertainment. It has stadium seating and an IMAX theater. This theater is known for showing independent films.

The Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, Illinois is a respected Chicago area regional theatre. Attached to the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort, the theatre produces an average of five musicals each year, presented in the round, as well as productions aimed at younger audiences. Area code 847 was created on January 20, 1996, in a three-way split of area code 708. Area code 847 was involved in the first trial of telephone number pooling in the United States in June 1998, to avert central office code exhaustion in the numbering plan area. Nevertheless, within only five years, 847 was already close to exhaustion from the rapid growth in telecommunication services in the Chicago suburbs and the proliferation of cell phones and pagers. On January 5, 2002, area code 224 was assigned to overlay area code 847. This required ten-digit dialing in all affected communities.

In Metra's zone-based fare system, Buffalo Grove is in zone F. As of 2018, Buffalo Grove is the 76th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 695 weekday boardings. This makes it the most-trafficked station on the North Central Service.As of December 12, 2022, Buffalo Grove is served by all 14 trains (seven in each direction) on weekdays. The station contains a large parking lot off of Commerce Drive, which itself is a cul-de-sac off of Deerfield Parkway. The station is a part of the Sidney Mathias Transportation Center.

Vernon Area Public Library is a public library in Lake County, Illinois, United States, serving the communities of Lincolnshire and unincorporated Prairie View, most of Long Grove, and smaller portions of Buffalo Grove, Riverwoods and Vernon Hills. It operates a single library in Lincolnshire. The Vernon Area Public Library offers access to nearly 200,000 physical items, along with programming and instruction for all ages. The library also delivers materials to senior centers in the area.The Vernon Area Public Library was counted among America's Star Libraries for 2010, 2011, and 2013 as named by Library Journal.

Shri Swaminarayan Temple, Wheeling is a Swaminarayan Hindu temple located in the Chicago suburb of Wheeling. It comes under the International Swaminarayan Satsang Mandal (Laxmi Narayan Dev Gadi) of the Swaminarayan Sampraday. The temple is also a member of the International Swaminarayan Satsang Organisation.Opened on 26 May 1991 by Acharya Shree Ajendraprasadji Maharaj, it is built on two acres of land.Built at a cost of $1.7 million, it is a tri-spire temple with the spires adorning the front edge of the flat topped building. Surrounded by industrial structures, it is a square-shaped, cream coloured structure with a big prayer hall that caters to a 40,000 strong community and is run entirely by volunteers. The image of Swaminarayan is worshipped in pictorial form along with other avatars of Narayana.

Trinity International University (TIU) is an evangelical Christian university headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois. It comprises Trinity College, Trinity Graduate School, a theological seminary (Trinity Evangelical Divinity School), a law school (Trinity Law School which is located in Santa Ana, California), and a camp called Timber-lee. The university also maintains campuses in North Lauderdale, Florida & Miami, Florida; the camp is located in East Troy, Wisconsin. TIU is the only university affiliated with Evangelical Free Church of America in the United States and enrolls about 2,700 students. On February 17, 2023, TIU announced it was moving the undergraduate program to online modalities only and closed the residential campus at the end of the Spring 2023 semester.

Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS) is an academic divinity school founded in 1897 and located in the northern Chicago suburb of Deerfield, Illinois. It is part of and located on the main campus of Trinity International University. It is among the largest theological educational institutions. Since the reorganization of Trinity in 1963 by Kenneth Kantzer, the school has consistently recruited and retained some of the top scholars in the world to serve as faculty.

Aptakisic is an unincorporated community in Lake County, Illinois, United States. Aptakisic is located along Aptakisic Road and the Canadian National Railway; it borders Buffalo Grove to the west and Lincolnshire to the east. The name Aptakisic is derived from Chief Aptakisic of the Potawatomie tribe; it is one of two unincorporated communities named in his honor, the other being Half Day.

Vernon Township is a township in Lake County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2010 census, its population was 67,095. The name "Vernon Township" comes from George Washington's estate, Mount Vernon.

The Mildred and Abel Fagen House is a historic house at 1711 Devonshire Lane in Lake Forest, Illinois. The house was built in 1948 for Mildred Fagen, a patron and leader in the local arts community, and her husband Abel, a textile broker. Prominent Modern Movement architects Keck & Keck designed the house, which was heavily influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright's Usonian work. The one-story house has a flat roof with overhanging eaves, giving it a horizontal emphasis that reflects the area's flat landscape. The house's use of natural materials such as wood, glass, and limestone and its lack of ornamental features continue the emphasis on blending in with its surroundings. The interior design includes a low-ceilinged foyer leading to a larger dining room, stone fireplaces used as focal points, and a narrow hallway leading to the bedrooms, all of which were typical elements of Wright's Usonian plans.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 4, 2021.
