Change Bridge is a Grade II listed single-arch changeline bridge spanning what was formerly a section of the Lancaster Canal in the English market town of Kendal, Cumbria. The structure dates to around 1817. Horses pulling laden barges crossed from one side of the canal to the other, to avoid the coal wharves on the northwestern side of the bridge. It now carries Garden Road, and is believed to be the only change bridge in Cumbria. The bridge is probably the work of John Fletcher, based on earlier designs by John Rennie the Elder. Rennie's route for the canal was authorised in 1792.It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with limestone voussoirs. Ramped paths lead to and from either side, with the cobblestones of the western ramp still intact.Kendal Civic Society restored the bridge in 2002 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

Kendal College is a further education college situated in Kendal on the edge of the Lake District National Park. The college provides a range of training and education programmes, including Further Education, Higher Education and training courses to support local employers, as well as more diverse work such as hospitality consultancy for Cambridge University.The college has over 4,000 students and employs over 150 staff. In the college's last full Ofsted Inspection in 2017, it was graded Good.The college is a partner of the University of Cumbria and University of Central Lancashire and delivers a range of Higher Education courses, including Foundation Degrees and teaching qualifications.The college consists of two campuses, the Main Site on Milnthorpe Road at the South side of Kendal and the Arts and Media Campus at the North end of the town. On 15 May 2008 the college officially opened its £12.9 million new build project on the college's main site. The new build is the first capital development that the college has embarked on since the main campus was originally constructed in 1971. On 20 May 2009 the new build was shortlisted for the Learning and Skills Council / Royal Institute of British Architects Further Education Design Excellence Awards 2009. The college won the 2009 SCALA Civic Building of the Year Award. The Arts and Media Campus comprises the Allen Building where creative and expressive arts are taught; Wildman Studios where arts courses are taught; Kendal Museum, which is managed by the college as part of a 10-year agreement with South Lakeland District Council; The Box, a 120-seat, a performance venue for drama and technical theatre students; and Castle Dairy, a 14th-century Grade 1 Listed building, which has been renovated for use as an art gallery and cafe, staffed by Kendal College hospitality and catering apprentices and officially opened on 18 October 2011 by Davie Starkey.The college also manages Kendal Museum as part of a 10-year partnership agreement with South Lakeland District Council.

Abbot Hall Art Gallery is an art gallery in Kendal, England. Abbot Hall was built in 1759 by Colonel George Wilson, the second son of Daniel Wilson of Dallam Tower, a large house and country estate nearby. It was built on the site of the old Abbot's Hall, roughly where the museum is today. Before the Dissolution of the Monasteries this was where the Abbot or his representative would stay when visiting from the mother house of St Mary's Abbey, York. The architect is unknown. During the early twentieth century the Grade I listed building was dilapidated and has been restored as an art gallery. As of January 2021 Abbot Hall was closed to the public while Lakeland Arts carried out a redevelopment of the building and grounds. The reopening is on 20 May 2023 with an exhibition by Julie Brook.

The Museum of Lakeland Life & Industry, formerly the Museum of Lakeland Life and sometimes abbreviated to MOLLI, is a local museum in Kendal, Cumbria, northwest England.The museum was opened in 1971 by Princess Alexandra. It won the first ever UK Museum of the Year award in 1973.The Museum presents life in the Lake District (aka Lakeland) from the late 18th century onwards. The museum is located within the original Georgian stables of the Abbot Hall Art Gallery. It is managed by Lakeland Arts. The displays include presentations of the author Arthur Ransome and the Swallows and Amazons series of books, local photographers, and the Arts & Crafts Movement in the Lake District.The museum is the registered office of the Arthur Ransome Society.As of January 2021 the museum is closed during a redevelopment by Lakeland Arts of the whole Abbot Hall Art Gallery site and complex.

Netherfield Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in Kendal, Cumbria (formerly part of Westmorland). The first recorded match on the ground was in 1893. The ground hosted its first Minor Counties Championship match in 1956, when Cumberland played the Lancashire Second XI. From 1956 to 2007, the ground hosted 44 Minor Counties Championship matches, with the final Minor Counties Championship match played to date at the ground in 2007 seeing Cumberland host Norfolk. The ground has also hosted 3 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches, the most recent of which saw Cumberland play Cheshire in 2010.The ground has also hosted List-A matches. The first List-A match held at the ground was between Cumberland and the Derbyshire in the 1st round of the 1984 NatWest Trophy. Between 1984 and 1999 the ground hosted 5 List-A matches, the last of which was between Cumberland and Sussex in the 1999 NatWest Trophy 3rd round.

Kendal Castle is a medieval fortification to the east of the town of Kendal, Cumbria, in northern England. The castle, which is atop a glacial drumlin, was built in the 13th century as the Caput baroniae for the Barony of Kendal. By the 15th century, the Parr family owned the castle.

Kendal, once Kirkby in Kendal or Kirkby Kendal, is a market town and civil parish in the Westmorland and Furness district of Cumbria, England. It lies within the River Kent's dale, from which its name is derived, just outside the boundary of the Lake District National Park. In the Domesday Book of 1086, the area was collected under Yorkshire. The area came under the Honour of Lancaster before the barony split. The town became the Barony of Kendal's seat, in 1226/7 this barony merged with the Barony of Westmorland to form the historic county of Westmorland with Appleby as the historic county town. From 1889–1974, it became the county town. Under the 1974 reforms, it became the administrative centre of the South Lakeland district. The town became Westmorland and Furness district's administrative centre in a 2023 reform. It is 8 miles (13 km) south-east of Windermere and 19 miles (31 km) north of Lancaster. At the 2011 Census, the town had a population of 28,586, making it the second largest town in Westmorland and Furness after Barrow-in-Furness. As of the 2021 Census, its population was 29,593. It is renowned today mainly as a centre for shopping, for its festivals and historic sights, including Kendal Castle, and as the home of Kendal Mint Cake. The town's grey limestone buildings have earned it the sobriquet "Auld Grey Town".

Westmorland and Furness is a unitary authority area in Cumbria, England,. The economy is mainly focused on tourism around both the Lake District and Cumbria Coast, shipbuilding and the port in Barrow-in-Furness, and agriculture in the rural parts of the area. The council area formed on 1 April 2023, on the abolition of Cumbria County Council The council covers the areas formerly served by the districts of Barrow-in-Furness, Eden, and South Lakeland, which also ceased to function. It includes all of the area of the historic county of Westmorland as well as the Furness district of historic Lancashire. It also incorporates a very small part of historic Yorkshire, together with about a quarter of the area of (but only 10% of the population of) the historic county of Cumberland. The other part of Cumbria, to the north and west, forms the unitary authority area of Cumberland. The first elections to the new authority took place in May 2022, with the Westmorland and Furness Council acting as a 'shadow authority' until the abolition of the three former districts and Cumbria County Council on 1 April 2023.

Kendal Parish Church, also known as the Holy Trinity Church due to its dedication to the Holy Trinity, is the Anglican parish church of Kendal, Cumbria, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building.Visitors to the church are struck by its size and the lightness of the interior. This lightness is due to the unusual construction of five aisles, separated by columns and allowing generous window area.The nave is 800 years old and the other aisles have been added over the centuries so that, in its heyday, a congregation of 1100 was regularly accommodated.
