Marple Bridge is a district of Marple in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England, on the River Goyt, which runs through the centre of the village. Historically part of the civil parish of Glossop, Derbyshire, it was included in the new parish of Ludworth and Chisworth in 1866. Ludworth became a separate parish in 1896 and was abolished in 1936, when the former parish was transferred to Cheshire and amalgamated into Marple Urban District. In 1974, the urban district was abolished and Marple Bridge became part of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport in the county of Greater Manchester. It shares borders with Mellor, Marple, Compstall, New Mills, Strines, Mill Brow and Chisworth. It is in the ecclesiastical parish of Mellor; the parish church of St. Thomas stands several hundred feet higher than the village, overlooking Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

Strines is a village in Greater Manchester, in the valley of the River Goyt. It is located midway between Marple and New Mills, about six miles south-east of Stockport. The village falls within the Marple parish and the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport. Immediately surrounding Strines are the villages of Woodend, Hague Bar and Brookbottom, where there is a conservation area. Close by are the villages of Mellor and Rowarth, and the hamlet of Turf Lea.

The Church of St Martin is a 19th-century church in Marple, Greater Manchester, England (grid reference SJ963894). It was designed by J. D. Sedding for Maria Anne Hudson (1819–1906), who lived in nearby Brabyns Hall, and was built between 1869 and 1870. The north chapel and aisle were added later by Henry Wilson, in 1895–96 and 1909 respectively. The stained glass in the windows in the chancel are by the Morris company with designs by Edward Burne-Jones, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Ford Madox Brown and William Morris. The organ from 1870 is by Henry Willis. On 11 October 1985, it was designated a Grade II* listed building. To the rear is a former schoolroom and schoolmaster's house, now a parish hall and private house, designed by Sedding's brother Edmund Sedding and separately listed at Grade II.

Marple is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. It is on the River Goyt, 9 miles (14 km) south-east of Manchester, 9 miles (14 km) north of Macclesfield and 4 miles (6 km) south-east of Stockport. In 2011, it had a population of 23,686. Within the boundaries of the historic county of Cheshire, the town lies along the Peak Forest Canal which contains the Marple Lock Flight and Marple Aqueduct. The Roman Lakes, to the south-east of the town centre, attracts anglers and walkers. The town is served by two railway stations: Marple and Rose Hill Marple, providing access to the rail network in Greater Manchester and beyond. It is also close to the Middlewood Way, a shared use path following the former Macclesfield, Bollington and Marple Railway line south from Rose Hill to Macclesfield.

The station, opened in 1865 by the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, was demolished and rebuilt in 1970. It is managed and served by Northern Trains, who provide two trains per hour in each direction. The other station in Marple is Rose Hill Marple, on a spur of the Hope Valley Line which, until 1970, continued towards Macclesfield.

Strines railway station serves the village of Strines, in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, on the outskirts of Greater Manchester, England. Until boundary changes in 1994, the station itself lay over the border in Derbyshire.

Hawk Green is a suburb of Marple, Greater Manchester, England, on the Macclesfield Canal around a traditional village green. High Lane is to the south and Turf Lea to the east. Just to the north of the centre of Hawk Green is Goyt Mill, a former cotton mill that now houses various businesses and recreational facilities, including a large indoor climbing wall. It was once home to the Frost family who, in 1823, except for their youngest daughter, Annie, died in a fire close to it. Charles Frost was a fantasy novelist.
