Arrott Building is a skyscraper located at Fourth Avenue and Wood Street in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1902 and was designed by Frederick J. Osterling. The building and several surrounding financial buildings are part of the Fourth Avenue Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Arrott Building was added to the list of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks in 2000.The building opened in May 2021 as The Industrialist Hotel, part of the Autograph Collection by Marriott.

The Investment Building is a 1927 neo-classical skyscraper in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania located at 239 Fourth Avenue and part of the Fourth Avenue Historic District. The original name of the structure was the Insurance Exchange Building.Designed by John M. Donn, a Washington, D.C. architect, the tower is of the same approximate façade dimensions as its 4th Avenue neighbors the Arrott Building and Benedum-Trees Building, both built a generation earlier. Constructed from limestone, and a darker, more textured brick, the tower is noted for simplicity and lightness of form and detailing. The roof corners feature chamfered obelisk-like elements.

The Tower at PNC Plaza is a 33-story skyscraper in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is the corporate headquarters of the PNC Financial Services Group and has approximately 800,000 square feet (74,000 m2), standing 33 stories (545 feet) tall. Nearby buildings totaling 37,000 square feet (3,400 m2), were purchased by PNC and deconstructed to make space for the Tower at PNC Plaza. It is located at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Wood Street, where PNC and its predecessors have been based since 1858. The project was estimated to cost $400 million when announced in 2011 (or $482 million today).Construction began in spring of 2012 and was completed in October 2015. The tower is one of the greenest high-rises ever built, and even exceeds the current criteria for a LEED Platinum certified building. The Tower features numerous sustainable attributes such as an operable double-skin facade, an onsite grey water reuse system, locally sourced building materials, fixtures and furniture made from recycled materials, and numerous other green strategies to substantially reduce the environmental impact of the building. Some of these features enable the Tower's heating and cooling systems to operate in a "net-zero-energy state" up to 30% of the year. This is accomplished by its innovative solar chimney, which creates a stack effect through the core of the building to ventilate excess heat without the need for mechanical ventilation. The Tower's sloped roof acts as a solar collector and is positioned facing south. The tower's "topping off" ceremony was held Tuesday, June 24, 2014, with William Demchak, PNC chairman, president and CEO, and Gary Saulson, director of corporate real estate hosting it on site. The tower officially opened on October 2, 2015.

The Fourth Avenue Historic District is a historic district in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The district was the center of finance and banks for the city during the decades surrounding the turn of the 20th century. Many ornate structures still exist from that era, including the location of the Pittsburgh Stock Exchange on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Smithfield Street from 1864-1903, the now vacant lot of its location at 229 Fourth Avenue from 1903 to 1962 and the still standing structure of the Exchange from 1962 until it closed in 1974. It is roughly bounded by Smithfield Street, Third Avenue, Market Square Place, and Fifth Avenue. A boundary increase was added on March 20, 2013.

The building was later enlarged to a 26-story, 118 m (387 ft) skyscraper, making it the tallest in the city when the renovations were completed in 1912. Tenants moved in on April 1, 1912, with the building's fireproofing prominently advertised.

One PNC Plaza is a high-rise office building located in the Golden Triangle neighborhood of the Central Business District of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Constructed in 1972, it is 129.24 m (424.0 ft) 30 stories. It houses the general offices for PNC Financial Services. The building is the former location of PNC's corporate headquarters before completion of the Tower at PNC Plaza. The building was constructed on the site of the former First National Bank Building, a 26-story 1912 beaux-arts tower, that was only 11 m (36 ft) shorter.

The Farmers Bank Building was a 27-story, 105 m (344 ft) skyscraper in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania completed in 1902 and demolished on May 25, 1997. The University of Pittsburgh's online digital library states the building was constructed in 1903 and had 24 stories. To a generation of Pittsburgh sports fans the building is well remembered for being resurfaced in the mid 1960 in a failed rehabilitation but also fondly for a 15 story high mural of Roberto Clemente, Bill Mazeroski, Jack Lambert, Mean Joe Greene and Mario Lemieux completed in 1992 by Judy Penzer, who was killed in the crash of TWA Flight 800 four years later. For the five years the mural existed it was often the centerpiece for national networks cutting to or from games while they were in town for sporting events. Rockwell International owned the building starting in the mid-1960s and used it as its global headquarters, selling it in early 1972 and consolidating its headquarters staff in the U.S. Steel Tower blocks away.The building was imploded by Controlled Demolition, Inc. on the afternoon of May 25, 1997. In its place, a low-rise department store named Lazarus was built on the site. That building has since been extensively redesigned and now operates as a condominium development named Piatt Place.

Benedum–Trees Building located at 223 Fourth Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was built in 1905. The building was commissioned by Caroline Jones Machesney, the daughter and sole heir of a Pittsburgh banker, making it the first skyscraper in the city ordered by and built for a woman. It was originally called the Machesney Building until 1913, when Machesney sold it for $10 million to two local men who had gotten rich drilling for oil, Joe Trees and Michael Late Benedum. For the next 40 years, the fifteenth floor was home to their offices. The building, designed by Thomas H. Scott, was added to the List of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks in 1973. The building is 19 stories tall. Benedum Trees Oil Company was founded in 1904, by Michael Late Benedum and Joe Trees]in Wheeling, Virginia. In 1929 Benedum Trees opened a subsidiary Republic Oil Refining Company in Texas City, Texas.

It was the tallest building constructed in the city since Highmark Tower was completed in 1988, until The Tower at PNC Plaza was completed in 2015. It contains 326,000 square feet (30,300 m2) of office space, a 185-room Fairmont Hotel, and 28 condominium units. The $179 million ($248 million in current dollars) project created 800 construction-related jobs with a $35 million payroll ($48.6 million in current dollars). Thirteen buildings were demolished to make way for the building. Three PNC Plaza is a LEED certified green building. It is one of the nation's largest mixed use green buildings.International law firm Reed Smith moved their corporate headquarters into the building.
