The Budapest University of Jewish Studies (Hungarian: Országos Rabbiképző – Zsidó Egyetem, or Országos Rabbiképző Intézet / Jewish Theological Seminary – University of Jewish Studies / German: Landesrabbinerschule in Budapest) is a university in Budapest, Hungary. It was opened in 1877, a few decades after the first European rabbinical seminaries had been built in Padua, Metz, Paris and Breslau. Still, it remains the oldest existing institution in the world where rabbis are graduated.

The Rákóczi Square Market Hall or Market Hall II is one of the great Budapest market halls built during the monarchy. It was originally opened in 1894 and has been operating in its present form since 1991. This institution was named after the new district of Józsefváros in 2012, the Hall quarter. The Rákóczi tér market hall was the second of the large Budapest market halls built in the VIII. In 1890, Győző Czigler made a proposal for its replacement. [1] It was built in 1894 and designed by István Rozinay and Pál Klunzinger. The hall opened to customers in 1897. In the post-delivery period, a horse-drawn carriage could be driven into the hall at the main entrance from Rákóczi Square, thus facilitating unloading. Inside the hall there were 4 and 6 m² storehouses, with a total of 375 permanent and 55 temporary stores. The cellar was used for storage, while the corner pavilions housed a shopkeeper, police, hall control, first aid and restaurants. Above them were rented apartments. By 1936, the traffic in the hall had become so low that it was planned to close it or transform it into a swimming pool, but these plans were not realized later. On the night of May 6, 1988, a fire broke out in the hall and the building burned down. The market hall was not demolished, but it was renovated according to the plans of the architects György Tokár and György Hidasi, and reopened on 25 July 1991.

Józsefváros (German: Josefstadt) is the 8th district of Budapest, Hungary. It is the part of the city centre in the wider sense as one of the 18–19th century older suburbs, close to Belváros.

Rajk College for Advanced Studies (Hungarian: Rajk Szakkollégium) is an educational institution offering advanced courses in the fields of economics, business and social sciences. The College is a self governing community of about 100 selected students living together. It was founded in 1970 by the students of the Corvinus University of Budapest (then Karl Marx University of Economic Sciences), with Attila Chikán as its first principal. It is the oldest existing institution of the kind in Hungary, giving a model to a number of later colleges in Hungary and abroad, such as the Bibó István College for Advanced Studies in Hungary or the Mikó Imre College for Advanced Studies in Romania. The college was named in 1974 after László Rajk, a leading Hungarian Communist, who was proclaimed enemy of the regime and executed in a show trial in 1949. The idea behind the naming of the college was to express criticism towards the system at the time. In December, 2018 the college decided to change its name and dropped the word László. The college played an active political role during the time of the communist regime. In the 1980s, it served as a base for the opposition and organized several political fora and assisted political movements such as Fidesz, contributing to the transformation of Hungary to a democratic country with a market economy. After the transition the College abandoned institutional politics, however it expects its members to be active in the civil society.

Blaha Lujza tér is a station of the M2 (East-West) line of the Budapest Metro. It is a major transport junction. The station was opened on 2 April 1970 as part of the inaugural section of Line M2, between Deák Ferenc tér and Örs vezér tere.The square is named after Lujza Blaha, an actress (1850–1926). The Hungarian National Theater was located on the square until 1964 when it was demolished (by explosion) because of the subway construction. The 111-year-old New York Café is located at walking distance from it. It was renovated and re-opened in 2006 May by the Italian hotel chain Boscolo Hotels Inc. [1]

The Saint Ignatius Jesuit College of Excellence (in Hungarian: Szent Ignác Jezsuita Szakkollégium (SZIK)) in Budapest, Hungary, in the VIII. district is a college of excellence established in 1990. It is run by the Jesuits. It has 60 members of which 15-20 are exchanged every year due to graduation and admission. The important values of SZIK are professionality, spirituality, community and self-government.

The Erkel Theatre is a theatre in Budapest, Hungary. Being the largest public building in the city for decades (and the largest theatre in the city), it was made part of the Hungarian State Opera House in 1951.

II. János Pál pápa tér is a station on Line 4 of the Budapest Metro. It is located beneath the eponymous square, named after John Paul II. The station was opened on 28 March 2014 as part of the inaugural section of the line, from Keleti pályaudvar to Kelenföld vasútállomás.

Dohány utca (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈdoɦaːɲ ˈut͡sːɒ], Tobacco Street) is a street in the Erzsébetváros (Elizabeth City), the 7th district of Budapest, Hungary. It runs between Karoly kórüt and Rottenbiller utca, roughly parallel to Rákóczi út and Wesselenyi utca, and is about 1.6 km (0.99 mi) in length. It contains many of Budapest's significant buildings along its length, including the famed Dohány Street Synagogue at its western end.
