Mills House (Griffin, Georgia)

Pritchard-Moore-Goodrich House is a historic residence in Griffin, Georgia in Spalding County, Georgia. It was constructed by Dr. William Prichard in 1850 on land purchased from attorney Robert Lanier, father of Georgia poet Sidney Lanier. The home had a series of owners beginning with William Wadsworth in 1872 until 1919 when it was purchased by Lucien P. Goodrich, Dr. Prichard's grandson. The home is Greek Revival architecture and includes Doric columns as well as some Italianate architecture features. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 7, 1973. It is located at 441 North Hill Street.

The Griffin Commercial Historic District, in Griffin, Georgia, is a 28 acres (11 ha) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. It included 93 contributing buildings, two contributing structures, and a contributing site. The district is roughly bounded by Central Alley, Sixth, Taylor and Eighth Streets.The area, covering about eight city blocks, includes: Griffin City Hall (the historic one, designed by Haralson Bleckley) Opera House/Odd Fellows Hall (1892), a Romanesque-style three-story brick building with stone details Griffin Hotel (c.1910), designed by Atlanta architect Haralson Bleckley. The Griffin City Hall, in Griffin, Georgia, was built around 1910. It was designed by Atlanta architect Haralson Bleckley. It has become known as Old City Hall or Historic City Hall, and is located on the northeast corner of E. Solomon St. at N. 6th St. in Griffin. It was built to serve as a city hall and fire station.It was named one of Georgia's top 10 endangered buildings in 2014. It is a contributing building in the Griffin Commercial Historic District.

The Griffin-Spalding County School District is a public school district in Spalding County, Georgia, United States, based in Griffin. It serves the communities of East Griffin, Experiment, Griffin, Orchard Hill, and Sunny Side.

St. George's Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church in Griffin, Spalding County, Georgia. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 7, 1994. It is located at 132 North Tenth Street. Construction of the church was delayed by the American Civil War and the American Reconstruction period. A lot for the church was bought on the corner of Tenth Street and Broad Street in 1868. In November 1869 the church's cornerstone was placed with the Bishop of Georgia officiating and services were held in April 1871. A rectory was built a few years later (now administration offices) and in 1921 the Grantland Memorial Parish Hall was built. In 1962 the Education Wing was added and the original rectory remodeled. In May 1975 a sacristy was added for the Altar Guild. The church merged with St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, which served the African Americans, and the altar, pews and baptismal font from St. Stephen's were dedicated in 2003. A Children's chapel was also added. St. George's sesquicentennial celebration was held in 2014.

The Sam Bailey Building, formerly the Sam Bailey Male Institute, is a historic school building in Griffin, Georgia. It was constructed in 1870 and is the oldest public school building in Griffin. Originally a private school, it became a public in August 1873 before becoming private again in 1877. Eight years later it became public again. It was built for the Griffin Male Institute and was named for Sam Wesley Bailey, a banker and landowner who came to Griffin after the American Civil War and helped fund the school. A two-story brick structure with Italianate details, it is part of the Griffin High School and is connected to other buildings via covered walkways.The school building was constructed by Jonathan Drake, a major building firm in Griffin. It is located at the corner of East Poplar Street and 4th Street. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places In 1973.

The Griffin Synodical Female College was established by Presbyterians, but closed. The University of Georgia maintains a branch campus in Griffin.

The Hunt House is a historic residence in Griffin, Spalding County, Georgia. Also known at the Chapman-Kincaid-Hunt House, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It was originally located at 232 South 8th Street.It is a monumental Beaux Arts house that was built originally in c.1860 as an Italianate summer home for a rich south Georgia planter, W.W. Chapman. It was remodelled into the Beaux Arts style by W.J. Kincaid, founder of a textile manufacturing firm in Griffin. Kincaid bought the house in 1874. His daughter, born in the house in 1875, married a Hunt and lived there until 1959. The house was moved to 525 North Pine Hill in 1978, apparently at 33.26214°N 84.31637°W / 33.26214; -84.31637.

The Marian Apartments in Griffin, Georgia, at 400 W. Poplar St., were built in 1919 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.It was the first building in Griffin to rent out luxury apartments. The building was deemed significant "as an excellent example of an early 20th-century Renaissance Revival-style apartment building designed with luxury "flats" that incorporated modern amenities and were large enough for families. Designed to attract affluent tenants, the Marian incorporated sunrooms and balconies for fresh air and sunlight, white-tile bathrooms, modern kitchens, wood floors, electric lights, and steam heat. The apartments, designed by Atlanta architect Alexander F. N. Everett, are typical of apartments designed in Atlanta in the 191Os and 1920s." The building was designed by architect Alexander F.N. Everett in Renaissance Revival style.

The Bailey-Tebault House, located at 633 Meriwether St. in Griffin, Georgia, is a Greek Revival-style mansion which was built during 1859–1862. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.It was deemed an "exceptionally fine Greek Revival home in the piedmont region of Georgia. The quality of its detailing and the proportions of its composition, as well as its commanding location, contribute to its distinction." The house consists of a square two-story section with a hipped roof and projecting one-story wings, also with hipped roofs. It has a two-story, three-bay, four-column portico surmounted by a pediment. "Above this portico and around the entire central portion of the house is a strongly projecting cornice and a simple, precisely delineated entablature."The design of the house may have been inspired by a frontispiece illustration in architect Minard LaFever's "Design of a Country Villa". Its completion was delayed because mill work ordered from Philadelphia could not be delivered due to the Union blockade of the south in the American Civil War.In 2018 it houses the Griffin/Spalding Historical Society.
