Craig Llysfaen

Rudry (Welsh: Rhydri) is a small village and community located to the east of Caerphilly in Wales. As a community Rudry contains not only the village of Rudry, but also the villages of Draethen, Garth and Waterloo. The population of the community at the 2011 census was 1,053.The village is a rural location, surrounded by woods with walks along the Rhymney Valley Ridgeway Walk. Its main attraction being the Maen llwyd Inn. Another pub, The Griffin was located near the local church. It is thought that Oliver Cromwell took shelter in St James's church, which has existed in the village since the 13th century.The community was once served by two small railway stations—Waterloo Halt and Fountain Bridge Halt, each served by trains in one direction only. Both closed in 1956.

Lisvane (Welsh: Llys-faen) is a community in the north of Cardiff, the capital of Wales, located 5 miles (8 km) north of the city centre. Lisvane is generally considered to be one of the wealthiest residential areas of Wales, with many properties worth in excess of £1 million. Lisvane had 3,319 residents in 2001 and comprises approximately 1,700 dwellings, a local village shop, primary school, community cabin library, park, nursery, parish church, public house, war memorial, Scout hall and community or village hall.

St James's Church, Rudry is an historic Anglican church in the village of Rudry in the Diocese of Monmouth.

Cefn Onn Halt railway station was a halt on the Rhymney Line between Cardiff and Rhymney, Wales opened in 1915. It closed on 27 September 1986 and was replaced by Lisvane and Thornhill, a short distance to the south. The station is close to the entrance of Caerphilly Tunnel, which resulted in trains overshooting the platform and having to reverse.The station was adjacent to and served Cefn Onn Park (now known as Parc Cefn Onn), which was laid out from 1911 to 1933 by Ernest Prosser, a director of the Rhymney Railway which owned the line. The park was bought by Cardiff County Borough Council in 1944, which developed it as a country park. The park is now listed at Grade II on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.

Ty Gwyn is a large detached house in the Cardiff suburb of Lisvane. It is set in 5 acres of grounds and is 10,000sq ft in size.It was built by the builder James E. Turner as his personal residence in 1906 in the Jacobethan style. Turner was the senior partner of the Cardiff building firm E. Turner and Sons. The company built much of the Cathays Park civic centre of Cardiff. The house is constructed of Portland stone; with interior furnishings of wainscot panelling made from Austrian oak. A one-storey extension to the rear of the main house has gothic detailing and dates from 1932. It is Grade II listed. The house was illustrated in the 1929 pamphlet Superb Buildings which depicted E. Turner and Sons' projects in Cardiff. The house has been listed Grade II since September 2002. Its gardens are designated Grade II* on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.On 2 and 3 July 1908 a garden fête was held at Ty Gwyn to raise funds for the construction of the Baptist Chapel at Llanishen. The fete was opened by the Liberal MP Alfred Thomas. Entertainment was provided by the artistes of Clara Novello Davies, the Llanishen Brass Band and the Capel Gwilym Choir. The house was purchased by the shipping merchant Doug Smith, of the Reardon Smith Shipping Company in 1937. To survey his ships in the Bristol Channel, Smith constructed an octagonal room on the roof of Ty Gwyn.Ty Gwyn was bought by the banker and financier Julian Hodge in 1961. It was the site of his charitable foundation, that was named for his mother, Jane.In 2014 Ty Gwyn was put up for sale for the first time in 50 years, with an asking price of £3 million. It was sold in November 2017 for £2 million. A dayroom, cinema, gym and a garage for four cars was added to the house by Davis Sutton Architects following its sale in 2015. A new entrance to the house was created after the separation of the coach house and gate lodge. The coach house of Ty Gwyn was developed as a private residence in the 2010s. It is believed to have the first vehicle inspection pit in Wales. It has a datestone of 1905 and decorative tiles on the external walls.

Lisvane and Thornhill railway station (Welsh: Llys-faen a Draenen Pen-y-Graig) is a railway station serving the Lisvane and Thornhill areas of north Cardiff, Wales. It is a stop on the Rhymney Line of the Valley Lines network. This station replaced Cefn Onn Halt railway station, which was closed in 1986.

Llanishen Golf Club is a golf course in Thornhill, north of Llanishen on the northern outskirts of Cardiff, Wales. It lies across the M4 motorway from Cardiff. The parkland course, which was 5338 yards as of 2005, is set to the backdrop of Caerphilly Mountain.

Corpus Christi Roman Catholic High School (formerly Lady Mary, Welsh: Ysgol Uwchradd Corpus Christi) is a voluntary aided Roman Catholic secondary school located in Lisvane, Cardiff, Wales. The school is co-educational and accepts children aged 11–16. Corpus Christi has traditionally performed well, with consistently good and above-average performance shown during inspections.

Llanishen railway station (Welsh: Llanisien) is a railway station serving the area of Llanishen in Cardiff, south Wales. It is a stop on the Rhymney Line of the Valley Lines network.

Waterloo is a small hamlet to the east of Caerphilly, Wales, in the community of Rudry.

Thornhill (Welsh: Draenen Pen-y-graig; meaning draen thorn + -en one + pen top + 'y' the + craig rock [mutated to 'graig']) is a community in the north of the city of Cardiff, Wales. It lies south of Caerphilly.

Llanishen Reservoir (Welsh: Cronfa Ddŵr Llanisien) is a Victorian reservoir in north Cardiff, Wales. The reservoir is one of the reservoirs constructed as part of the Taff Fawr scheme for supplying water to Cardiff and was completed in 1886. It forms part of the Nant Fawr Corridor from the top of Roath Park to the countryside beyond Cyncoed. The reservoir was used for water supply until the mid-1970s when it became redundant. It was then used for leisure activities and for 'topping up' the adjacent Lisvane Reservoir until it was drained completely. After buying Hyder plc, its new owner Western Power Distribution (WPD), proposed to redevelop the reservoir site, but after a series of objections from national governing bodies, the County Council, local residents and both local and national politicians this was blocked. On 30 August 2013 WPD sold both Llanishen and Lisvane reservoirs to CELSA Group.In January 2016, Welsh Water acquired both Llanishen and Lisvane reservoirs from CELSA Group on a 999-year lease, which allows Welsh Water to use both reservoirs for water supply and recreational purposes while also allowing CELSA UK to continue to take its water supply from the Lisvane reservoir.
