The Grade II listed building was built by Thomas Cubitt in the 1830s and had many occupants until it became the Finnish embassy in 1975.The ambassador of Finland to the United Kingdom, since 2021, is Jukka Siukosaari. His career at Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs includes postings to Tokyo, Buenos Aires, London, Pretoria, Rome and Dublin. He has also worked as the Secretary General at the Office of the President of the Republic of Finland.The Ambassador’s Residence is in 14 Kensington Palace Gardens.

Belgravia () is a district in Central London, covering parts of the areas of both the City of Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Belgravia was known as the 'Five Fields' during the Tudor Period, and became a dangerous place due to highwaymen and robberies. It was developed in the early 19th century by Richard Grosvenor, 2nd Marquess of Westminster under the direction of Thomas Cubitt, focusing on numerous grand terraces centred on Belgrave Square and Eaton Square. Chesham Place is a street in Belgravia, London UK, running between Belgrave Square and Pont Street. It is home to several embassies and has had many distinguished residents. It was first laid out in 1831, and includes a number of listed buildings. Chesham Place and nearby Chesham Street take their name from the town of Chesham in Buckinghamshire, and were named by William Lowndes who owned the leases on this and nearby land. It gives its name to Chesham Amalgamations, founded at number 36 in 1962.
