Rivieren Castle (Ganshoren)

Het Heideken is a district of Ganshoren, a municipality of Brussels, Belgium. The housing complex is uniquely shaped like a butterfly or kite and stretches across both sides of Avenue de l'Exposition Universelle/Wereldtentoonstellingslaan. It was commissioned by the Société Coopérative Le Home, designed by the architect Jules Ghobert and constructed between 1923 and 1925.

Ganshoren (French: [ɡansɔʁən, -ʁɛn], Dutch: [ˈɣɑnsˌɦoːrə(n)] (listen)) is one of the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region, Belgium. Located in the north-western part of the region, it is bordered by Jette, Koekelberg, and Sint-Agatha-Berchem, as well as the Flemish municipality of Asse. In common with all of Brussels' municipalities, it is legally bilingual (French–Dutch). On 1 January 2006, the municipality had a total population of 20,970. The total area is 2.46 km2 (0.95 sq mi) which gives a population density of 8,541/km2 (22,120/sq mi). In 2018, Pierre Kompany was elected mayor of Ganshoren. He is the first black mayor in Belgium, and the father of footballer Vincent Kompany.

The National Basilica of the Sacred Heart (French: Basilique Nationale du Sacré-Cœur, Dutch: Nationale Basiliek van het Heilig-Hart) is a Roman Catholic Minor Basilica and parish church in Brussels, Belgium. The church is dedicated to the Sacred Heart, inspired by the Basilique du Sacré-Coeur in Paris. Symbolically, King Leopold II laid the first stone of the basilica in 1905 during the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Belgian Independence. The construction was halted by the two World Wars and finished only in 1969. Belonging to the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Mechelen–Brussels, it is one of the largest churches by area in the world. Located in the Parc Elisabeth atop the Koekelberg hill at the border between Brussels' Koekelberg and Ganshoren municipalities, the church is popularly known as the Koekelberg Basilica (French: Basilique de Koekelberg, Dutch: Basiliek van Koekelberg). The massive brick and reinforced concrete church features two thin towers and a green copper dome that rises 89 metres (292 ft) above ground, dominating Brussels' north-western skyline. It is served by Simonis metro station on lines 2 and 6 of the Brussels Metro.

Bruneau is a restaurant in Brussels, Belgium which has garnered a Michelin star, as well as an 18/20 rating from Gault-Millau. The chef was Jean-Pierre Bruneau, 74 years old in 2017. The restaurant was taken over by a former sous-chef Maxime Maziers and reopened in June 2018. It was renamed Bruneau by Maxime Maziers. Jean-Pierre Bruneau left his restaurant in Brussels on 22 January 2018. For the last service he prepared the famous Soupe VGE for his customers. The restaurant opened in March 1975, and was awarded a Michelin star in 1977. It retained the star till 1982, when the restaurant was awarded a second star. In 1988 the rating went up to three Michelin stars. It retained the three stars for sixteen years, until 2004, when it went back to two stars. Berchem-Sainte-Agathe (French, pronounced [bɛʁkɛm sɛ̃t aɡat]) or Sint-Agatha-Berchem (Dutch, pronounced [sɪnt aːˈɣaːtaː ˈbɛrxɛm] (listen)) is one of the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region, Belgium. Located in the north-western part of the region, it is bordered by Ganshoren, Koekelberg and Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, as well as the Flemish municipalities of Asse and Dilbeek. In common with all of Brussels' municipalities, it is legally bilingual (French–Dutch). On 1 January 2006, the municipality had a total population of 20,078. The total area is 2.95 km2 (1.14 sq mi) which gives a population density of 6,807/km2 (17,630/sq mi). The municipality is known for its calm and peaceful character. It is said that Berchem is a "village in the city".

Molenbeek-Saint-Jean Cemetery (French: Cimetière de Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Dutch: Begraafplaats van Sint-Jans-Molenbeek) is a cemetery belonging to the municipality of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Brussels, Belgium, where the municipality's inhabitants have the right to be buried. It is located at 539, Chaussée de Gand/Gentsesteenweg, in the west of the municipality. The ensemble extends over 1.5 hectares (3.7 acres). The cemetery was inaugurated on 16 August 1864 to replace the old parish cemetery around the Church of St. John the Baptist, which had become too small, and whose last remains were cleared in 1932. Today, it concentrates a considerable protected heritage, including funeral galleries and a columbarium initially imagined for Laeken Cemetery and built in 1880, as well as several chapels.

The Dielegembos (Dutch) or Bois de Dieleghem (French) is a public forest in the municipality of Jette in Brussels, Belgium. It covers an area of 9 hectares (22 acres) and was acquired by the municipality in 1952. Along with the Poelbos and the Laarbeekbos, the Dielegembos is an integral part of the regional King Baudouin Park.The forest is located between the Avenue Jean Joseph Crocq/Jean Joseph Crocqlaan, the Rue Bonaventure/Bonaventurestraat, the Avenue du Heymbosch/Heymboschlaan, the Avenue Henri Liebrecht/Henri Liebrechtlaan, and the Avenue Jacques Swartenbrouck/Jacques Swartenbroucklaan.

Laerbeek Wood (French: Bois du Laerbeek) or Laarbeek Wood (Dutch: Laarbeekbos) is a public forest in the municipality of Jette in Brussels, Belgium. It covers an area of 34 hectares (84 acres), making it the largest forest area in the north of the Brussels-Capital Region. The forest is located on the border with the Flemish Region and is connected to an open space in the north, although the Brussels Ring forms a barrier there. To the south and south-east, Laerbeek Wood borders other green areas: the Poelbos, King Baudouin Park and the Jette-Ganshoren Marshes. To the east, the forest borders the Campus Jette with the UZ Brussel. The appearance of Laerbeek Wood, with its many old beeches, is somewhat reminiscent of the Sonian Forest. The past of Laerbeek Wood, like that of the neighbouring Dieleghem Wood and Poelbos, is linked to the history of the Premonstratensian Dieleghem Abbey, founded in the 11th century. Laerbeek Wood has an exceptional biodiversity and is part of the Natura 2000 Special Protection Area in the Brussels-Capital Region.

Karreveld Castle (French: Château du Karreveld, Dutch: Kasteel Karreveld) is a castle-farm in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, a municipality of Brussels, Belgium. The castle and surrounding park are used for cultural events and meetings of the municipal council. This site is served by Osseghem/Ossegem metro station on lines 2 and 6 of the Brussels Metro.
