Rhederbrug (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌreːdərˈbrʏx]; English: Rhede's Bridge) is a hamlet near Bellingwolde in the municipality of Westerwolde in the Netherlands. The hamlet has a population of 240.The hamlet was first mentioned in 1983 as Rhederbrug, and means bridge to Rhede in Germany. The bridge was built around 1917. Rhederbrug is considered part of Bellingwolde.

It is situated in the southeast of the region Oldambt, in the north of the region Westerwolde, and in the east of the province Groningen, at the border with Germany. The settlement dates back to the 11th century. It flooded multiple times until the 16th century. In the 18th and 19th century agriculture prospered and large farmhouses were built. It was a separate municipality until it merged with Wedde into Bellingwedde in 1968. Bellingwolde has a state protected village area with several monumental farmhouses. Other attractions are the Magnus Church, the Law House, Veldkamp's Mill, and Museum de Oude Wolden. There are four primary schools and a secondary school in the village.

The Rechthuis (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈrɛxtɦœys]; English: Law House) is a former courthouse in the village of Bellingwolde in the Netherlands. The building with two crow-stepped gables was established in 1643 and used as a civil court for the area Bellingwolde-Blijham until 1811. The building has been a national heritage site since 1972. It is currently used as a private residence.

Museum de Oude Wolden (Dutch pronunciation: [myˈzeːjʏm də ˌʔʌudə ˈʋɔldə(n)]; English: Museum The Old Wolds), abbreviated as MOW, is a regional museum in the village of Bellingwolde in the Netherlands. The museum focuses on art and history of the regions of Oldambt and Westerwolde in the east of the province of Groningen. The museum opened on 10 August 1973. In the first decades, it primarily exhibited historical objects documenting everyday life. In the late 1990s, the museum started to exhibit artworks of artist collective De Ploeg and magic realist painter Lodewijk Bruckman. Since 2012, it has a permanent display of paintings by Bruckman and temporary exhibitions. The museum is an independent foundation that is mainly funded by the municipality of Bellingwedde. From 2013 to 2016, the museum had around 4,700 visitors per year. It is one of the lesser-visited museums in Groningen.

Den Ham (Dutch pronunciation: [dɛn ˈɦɑm]) is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Westerwolde, close to the border with Germany, between Bellingwolde and Nieuweschans.

The IJkdijk is a facility in the Netherlands to test dikes and to develop sensor network technologies for early warning systems. Furthermore, the sensor network will be able to detect many water-related environmental factors that affect the health of humans such as pollution and biological changes. Disasters on rivers and coastal waters are also detected. In studies of dike stability, about eighty dikes will be destroyed and establish, ultimately, a relation between the sensor readings and the future of the dike. Hence the (in Dutch) good-sounding name IJkdijk: dijk=dike and ijk is from the Dutch word ijken=to calibrate (models). Clearly the most urgent goal here is to forecast dike failures. In contrast to popular belief, most disasters with dikes occur because they are too wet and not because they are too low. Another major source of dike failures are streams of water flowing through the dike, ultimately destroying, through erosion, the dike from the inside. A detection system for these failure mechanisms might be cheaper and safer than the alternative: over-dimensioning by adding more clay. As dike improvements are very costly, e.g. 500 euros per meter, there is ample financial room to pay for the sensor system. The IJkdijk will also increase the geophysical understanding of dike behavior. A better understanding of dikes, expressed in a sensor-based early warning system in dikes, prevents unnecessary and costly over-dimensioning. That is good news for the owners of millions of kilometers of dikes that exist nowadays and the developers of millions of kilometers of dikes that will be constructed in the future.

Bellingwedde (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌbɛlɪŋˈʋɛdə] ) was a municipality with a population of data missing in the province Groningen in the northeast of the Netherlands. Bellingwedde was established in 1968, when the municipalities of Bellingwolde and Wedde had merged. It contained the villages Bellingwolde, Blijham, Oudeschans, Veelerveen, Vriescheloo, and Wedde. After almost 50 year, Bellingwedde was disestablished in 2018, when the municipalities of Bellingwedde and Vlagtwedde had merged into Westerwolde.

Hebrecht is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is a part of the municipality of Westerwolde, and lies about 34 km north of Emmen. The village was first mentioned in 1867 as Het Hebrecht, and means "selfish person" which relates to the long lasting feud between Groningen and Münster about the ownership of the border area. Hebrecht became a colloquial name for the region. The postal authorities have placed the hamlet under Vlagtwedde. Hebrecht has place name signs. It was the peat colony in Groningen.

Oudeschans (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈʌudəˌsxɑns]) is a small village with a population of around 100 in the municipality of Westerwolde in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. The 16th-century fortification is now a state protected village area with several national heritage sites, among which a 17th-century garrison church, and the Vestingmuseum Oudeschans.
