Elmwood Hall (Ludlow, Kentucky)

Hygeia was a proposed utopian community on the bank of the Ohio River on the site of present-day Ludlow, Kentucky. The land was granted to Gen. Thomas Sandford by the U.S. military in 1790. Sandford traded the land to Thomas D. Carneal, who had Elmwood Hall built in 1818 on the riverfront, then sold the land to William Bullock, a British showman, entrepreneur and traveller, owner of the Egyptian Hall in Piccadilly, London. Bullock proposed a planned community named Hygeia (a Greek word meaning health) designed in Egyptian style by John Buonarotti Papworth. The speculation was not a success, although some people, including Frances Milton Trollope, took part; Bullock sold the land to Israel L. Ludlow in 1846.

Ludlow is a home rule-class city in Kenton County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 4,407 at the 2010 U.S. census. Located on the Ohio River, Ludlow is a suburb of Covington, Kentucky, and Cincinnati, Ohio. It received its greatest period of early growth as a rail station.

Cincinnati River Road station was an Amtrak intercity rail station located south of River Road (U.S. Route 50) west of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. It opened in October 1972 to replace the underused Cincinnati Union Terminal, and closed in July 1991 when Amtrak moved service back to the restored Union Terminal.

The Waldvogel Viaduct, also called the Waldvogel Memorial Viaduct, was a bridge on the west side of Cincinnati, Ohio, United States, connecting the Sixth Street Expressway with River Road (U.S. Route 50), Elberon Avenue and Warsaw Avenue. The section of Cincinnati is known as Lower Price Hill. This viaduct was built to manage automobile traffic and avoid intersecting railroad lines, in order that grade crossings would not be required when the Cincinnati Union Terminal was constructed in 1933. The viaduct was named the Waldvogel Memorial Viaduct after the death of Edward N. Waldvogel (1894–1954), a member of the Ohio senate and mayor of Cincinnati who died in office. The deteriorating viaduct was replaced in late 2012.

The Cincinnati Southern Bridge, originally the Cincinnati Southern Railroad Swinging Truss Bridge, is a vertical lift bridge that carries the Norfolk Southern Railway's Cincinnati, New Orleans and Texas Pacific Railway over the Ohio River between Cincinnati, Ohio and Ludlow, Kentucky in the United States. The bridge is composed of four through truss spans: a main span on the northern side of the bridge, a currently unused vertical lift span on the southern side, and two additional spans over the main shipping channels in the center of the bridge. The bridge crosses the Ohio River just downstream from downtown Cincinnati, and can be seen clearly from the lower level of the nearby Brent Spence Bridge.

St. Michael the Archangel Church is a Roman Catholic church located at 2110 St. Michael Street, in Cincinnati, Ohio. The cornerstone of this church was laid in 1847 and the church dedicated a year later. The church closed April 5, 1998.

The Mill Creek is a stream in southwest Ohio. It flows 28.4 miles (45.7 km) southwest and south from its headwaters in Liberty Township of Butler County through central Hamilton County and the heart of Cincinnati into the Ohio River just west of downtown. The section of Interstate 75 through Cincinnati is known as the Mill Creek Expressway. The Mill Creek Valley is a remnant of the Deep Stage Ohio River from the days of the Last Glacial Maximum. The stream, with its water power and valley, were important to the development of Cincinnati. Then, for a time, the steep hillsides that surround the creek limited expansion and gave impetus to the free growth of surrounding communities that were over that barrier. Finally, inclined planes solved the problem, before highways and automobiles eliminated it.

Lower Price Hill Historic District is a registered historic district in Price Hill, Cincinnati, Ohio, listed in the National Register on November 15, 1988. It is roughly bounded by West Eighth Street, State Street, Burns Street, and English Street. It is located just across the railroad tracks to the west of downtown Cincinnati. This region contains 196 contributing buildings, including single and multiple dwellings, as well as a few businesses. Lower Price Hill is served by the Lower Price Hill Community School.

WIZF (101.1 FM) is an urban contemporary radio station licensed to Erlanger, Kentucky, serving the Cincinnati area. The station is owned and operated by Urban One. It broadcasts with an effective radiated power of 2,500 watts. Its studios are located at Centennial Plaza in downtown Cincinnati, and the transmitter site is west of the downtown area.

Queensgate is a neighborhood in Cincinnati, Ohio. It sits in the valley of Downtown Cincinnati and has been dominated by industrial and commercial warehouses for most of its history. Cincinnati's nickname of "Porkopolis" started here with hog slaughtering in the early 19th century.

Bromley is a home rule-class city along the Ohio River in Kenton County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 763 at the 2010 census, down from 838 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area.

Devou Park is a city park in Covington, Kentucky. With 700 acres (280 ha), it is the city's largest park. The hilltop park's overlooks offer panoramic views of the Cincinnati skyline and the Ohio River valley below. It is the namesake of the nearby city of Park Hills.
