Moringen

Three concentration camps operated in succession in Moringen, Lower Saxony, from April 1933 to April 1945. KZ Moringen, established in the centre of the town on site of former 19th century workhouses (German: Landeswerkhäuser), originally housed mostly male political inmates. In November 1933 - March 1938 Moringen housed a women's concentration camp; in June 1940 - April 1945 a juvenile prison. A total of 4,300 people were prisoners of Moringen; an estimated ten percent of them died in the camp.

Hardegsen (German pronunciation: [ˈhaːɐ̯.dɛksn̩] (listen)) is a town in the district of Northeim, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 15 km southwest of Northeim, and 15 km northwest of Göttingen. Burg Hardeg is a medieval castle in Hardegsen. The castle was founded in the 12th century as a residence of the House of Welf. In the 1320 the stone castle was rebuilt by Conrad und Ludwig von Rosdorf. In the end of the 14th century the castle passed to Otto von Braunschweig zu Göttingen. From 1568 to 1823 it housed the local magistrate. In the end of the 18th century, Burg Hardeg, once a princely castle, was stripped of its former luxuries and converted into a farmhouse . In 1972 the business vacated the castle, and its management passed to the municipality and local preservation society.

Northeim is a district in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the northwest and clockwise) the districts of Holzminden, Hildesheim, Goslar and Göttingen, and the state of Hesse (district of Kassel).

Hardeg Castle (German: Burg Hardeg) is an old castle in the little Lower Saxon town of Hardegsen in the German county of Northeim. It was built in the 12th century and used to be the seat of government of the Welf dukes.

The Ahlsburg is a range of bunter sandstone hills, relatively small in area and up to 411.4 m above sea level (NN), in the southern part of Lower Saxony, Germany. It lies within the Solling foreland and is part of the Weser-Leine Uplands.

Grubenhagen Castle (German: Burg Grubenhagen) is a ruined medieval castle in North Germany dating to the 13th century. It is not far from the town of Einbeck in southern Lower Saxony.

Fredelsloh is a village in Lower Saxony in Germany close to the town of Northeim. The town is historically agricultural, but today derives much income from its traditional pottery shops. The village is centred on a very large church, Klosterkirche Fredelsloh, which was formerly a mediaeval nunnery. The von Ohlen family historically owned much of the land in and around the village, and still has a strong presence in the area.

The Rhume is a 48 km (30 mi) long river in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is a right tributary of the Leine. Its source is the karstic spring of Rhume Spring in Rhumspringe, south of the Harz mountain range. The water drains with high pressure from the ground of the funnel-shaped well, known for its turquoise colour. The Rhume then flows in northwesterly direction through the municipalities of Gieboldehausen, Katlenburg-Lindau and Northeim. It finally joins the Leine river west of Northeim.
