Soestdijk

Baarn is a railway station on the Amsterdam–Zutphen railway and the Den Dolder–Baarn railway located in Baarn, Netherlands. The station is operated by the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS). The station was opened on 10 June 1874. Baarn station is the station the Dutch royal family use, when arriving/leaving Soestdijk Palace. For this use it has a royal waiting room. The station has 4 platforms. Platform 1 is joined to the station building. This platform is out of use. Platforms 2 and 3 form an island platform and are for trains to Amersfoort and Amsterdam. Platform 4 is used for trains to/from Utrecht Centraal. In the early days, the HSM had a railway station, for trains to Amsterdam and Amersfoort, this was on the Oosterspoorweg, and the nearby station Baarn Buurtstation, which was for the train to Utrecht. In 1938 the companies became part of the station NS, however Baarn Buurtstation was not closed until the Stichtse lijn was electrified in 1948. The station was rebuilt, with a platform 4 for the Utrecht train, to prevent delays of Intercitys passing through the station. Since March 2009, platform 1 is no longer used for passenger services.

The Baarnse Bos is a park/forest in the southern part of the municipality of Baarn, the province of Utrecht (province), the Netherlands. The area of the forest if approximately 80 hectares (200 acres) and is adjacent to the Soestdijk Palace.The forest is limited by Amsterdamse Straatweg (N221) in the west, Lt. Generaal van Heutszlaan in the north, the railway connecting Amsterdam and Amersfoot, as well as Torenlaan in the east, and Praamgracht in the south. The Soestdijk Palace is across Amsterdamse Straatweg, and the Baarnse Bos continues across this road as a large forest reaching Hilversum in the west. The Baarnse Bos was designed as a French landscape garden between 1733 and 1758. At the time, it was built around the land estate De Eult. In 1758, the estate, together with the forest, was transferred to the Dutch royal family. Since the end of the 19th century, it has been accessible for general public.

The Harscamp villa is a municipal monument on the Ringlaan in the Dutch town of Baarn in de province Utrecht. The villa is in the Wilhelminapark, a villa neighborhood which is part of a Rijksmonument. The house was built in 1912 by shipping magnate L.P.D. Op ten Noort, co-founder of the Koninklijke Paketvaart Maatschappij. The slate-covered roof has a lantern on top, with a sailing vessel for a weather vane. The building's stained glass windows have sailing as a common motif. The symmetric front facade has a central porch with a curved roof. It had structures added on either side; a loggia on the right, and a sunroom on the left. Behind the building was a geometric garden. Since 1938 the Harscamp is owned by the Salvation Army; for a long time it was in use as a children's home. In 2000, the building was renovated to become a home for unhoused people. A report from the town of Baarn from 2015 noted that the building had served drug addicts but had recently been closed; preparations were underway to make it an assisted living facility.

The Den Dolder–Baarn railway is a railway line in the province of Utrecht, Netherlands running from Den Dolder to Baarn, passing through Soest. It is also called the Sticht Line (Dutch: Stichtse lijn). Opened in 1898 in order to link Baarn with the city of Utrecht, it is operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen and belongs to ProRail. The railway line is 11 km long and was electrified in 1948. The line is single track, with a passing place at Soest station. The line has 5 stations: Den Dolder, Soest Zuid, Soest, Soestdijk and Baarn. There used to be two more stations on the line: De Paltz (1898-1933) and Baan Buurtstation (1898-1948), the original terminus of this line. After the line was electrified, the line was extended to the other existing Baarn station (which has been the current terminus of this line ever since).

Soestduinen is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Soest, and lies about 3 km south of Soest. The hamlet was first mentioned in 1936 as Soestduinen, and means the dunes near Soest. The railway station Soestduinen has existed between 1863 and 1998, and was called Soestduinen since 1922. The hamlet has always had place name signs, but since 2009, it reads Soest with Soestduinen underneath to emphasise that it is a hamlet belonging to Soest.
