The Moerkuilen are, along with the Dommelbeemden a forestry area in a bend of the Dommel river north east of Nijnsel in Meierijstad. It is located at the Lieshoutse Dijk, not far from the A50 motorway. The protected area measures over 100 acres and connects with the Vresselse Bossen (Vresselsh Forests) in the south. The Moerkuilen are part of the larger area Het Groene Woud. The lake in a lowland peat soil, was created by the dredging of Moer, which is quagmire consisting of decayed plant material that could be used as peat (fuel) after drying. The Moerkuilen borders the Dommelbeemden. It is a moore lake in the Dommel valley, and is known for water lilies, potamogeton, calla and carex species. Around the fish-rich peat lake, which attracts many birds, is a swamp forest (carr) bordered by forestry river dunes. There is a varied flora including common cow wheat and may lily. The river Dommel streamed past it over a higher plateau. Because of this there remains a striking steep edge. There are different trails through the terrain. There is a 4.5 km long marked trail. At the road "Lieshoutse Dijk" is a car park with an information board on the flora and fauna.

Nijnsel (North Meierijs dialect: Nènzûl ) is a village in the province of North Brabant, located in the Meierij of 's-Hertogenbosch. Nijnsel is a parish of the municipality of Meierijstad.

East of the village of Nijnsel and the hamlet of Vressel, both in Meierijstad, North Brabant, Netherlands, is the location of the Vresselse bossen or Vresselsche Bosch (Vressels Forest). The Vresselse Bossen is a forest area of 241 ha. It is owned and managed by the National Forest Service (Staatsbosbeheer). The forest is named after the nearby hamlet of Vressel. It is a young forest that planted in a drift-sand ridge. At the beginning of the 20th century, there was scarcely a tree in the area. The area consisted mainly of dunes and heathland. At the edges of the area lived farmers who were severely affected by the shifting sands. To protect the fields was therefore decided to reforest the drift-sand. At that time, almost exclusively pine was used for the reforesting. In the twenties of the 20th century, it had become a production forest consisting of Scots pine for the Limburgian mines. Within the area, there are two main fen systems: The Hazenputten and the Oude Putten. Rare vegetation is found around the fens: among others White beak-sedge and bog asphodel can be found here. The contemporary management by Staatsbosbeheer focuses on getting a more varied forest composition, including native oak, linden and beech. To prevent the Hazenputten from drying, competing for vegetation is removed around the pools. The area around the marshes has been grazed by Highland cattle and Exmoor horses in the past. The area has a rich bird population. Breeding birds are: yellowhammer, kingfisher, black woodpecker, northern goshawk, little grebe, European green woodpecker, common buzzard, great egret, long-eared owl, coal tit, little owl, barn owl and crested tit. Also many species of mammals can be encountered: These include: roe deer, European badger, Eurasian harvest mouse, European polecat, European water vole, European hedgehog, Eurasian red squirrel, common pipistrelle, European hare, brown long-eared bat, stoat, serotine bat, European mole, Natterer's bat, least weasel, red fox, Daubenton's bat, beech marten and several species of shrew, dormice, apodemus and arvicolinae. The "Hazenputten" was nominated by Staatsbosbeheer for the title of "Most beautiful spot" in the Netherlands in 2013.The Vresselse Bossen are part of Het Groene Woud, a vast nature area between Eindhoven, Den Bosch and Tilburg. West of the Vresselse Bossen lies the valley of the Dommel; in the northwest, the Vresselse Forest reaches the Moerkuilen. To the north, there is the reclaimed heathland of the Jekschot Heath and to the east lies the DAF test track and Mariahout Forest.

Zwijnsbergen is a hamlet in the municipality of Meierijstad in North Brabant, the Netherlands.Zwijnsbergen is best known for its castle. There was probably a fortified building at the location since the 13th century. The current castle dates from the 16th century. It was renovated and extended in 1817. Zwijnsbergen has no place name signs, and consists of about 40 houses.

Son en Breugel (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈsɔn ɛm ˈbrøːɣəl] (listen)) is a municipality in the southern Netherlands just outside Eindhoven. The municipality covers an area of 26.51 km2 (10.24 sq mi) of which 0.56 km2 (0.22 sq mi) is water. It had a population of 16,904 in 2019. Son en Breugel used to be two different villages: 'Son' and 'Breugel', with the stream the Dommel separating the two villages. Son en Breugel also borders the following larger municipalities: Eindhoven, Meierijstad, Nuenen, Gerwen en Nederwetten, and Best. The spoken language is North Meierijs (an East Brabantian dialect, which is very similar to colloquial Dutch).

Sint-Oedenrode (Dutch pronunciation: [sɪnt ˈudə(n)roːdə] (listen)) is a town in the province of North Brabant. Sint-Oedenrode is a moderately urbanized town in the Meierij of 's-Hertogenbosch. Sint-Oedenrode had an unknown population as of 2021 and has an area of 64.94 km2 (25.07 sq mi). On 1 January 2017 Sint-Oedenrode, together with Schijndel and Veghel, merged into a new municipality called Meierijstad creating the largest municipality of the province North-Brabant in terms of land area.The municipality traditionally had "vrijheidsrechten" (a predecessor of city rights), since 1232, until the abolishment of the privileges and introduction of the Municipalities Act in 1851. In those feudal times Sint-Oedenrode was referred to as a "Vlek" (market town). Today it is still a large town. From southeast to northwest, the town is split by the river Dommel.

Breugel is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant, in the municipality of Son en Breugel. Breugel lies east of the river Dommel and north of the Wilhelmina Canal.

Meierijstad (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌmɛiəˈrɛistɑt]) is a municipality in the province of North Brabant. The municipality is the result of a merger between the municipalities Schijndel, Sint-Oedenrode and Veghel in 2017. After the merger it became the largest municipality in terms of land area of North Brabant (surpassed by Altena in 2019). The town of Veghel hosts the town hall, while the municipal council holds its meetings at the former town hall of Sint-Oedenrode.

It is a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in the period 1997–2007 and 2010–present.Gault Millau awarded the restaurant 17 out of 20 points.Head chef of Wollerich is Gerard Wollerich.In 2008, there was great consternation when the restaurant unexpectedly lost its Michelin star. This despite the high score in the Gault Millau. In 2010, the restaurant won its star back.Wollerich is a member of Alliance Gastronomique Néerlandaise.

Henkenshage is a notable building located in the municipality of Meierijstad in the Netherlands. It is a former fortified farmhouse, known in the 14th century as a Strijpe or Streepe. The building, often mistaken for a castle, is not a real castle but rather a manor house. In 1818, Henkenshage was bought by Dutch diplomat and civil servant Christaan Diederik Emerens Johan Bangeman Huygens, who was Minister Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Washington, D.C. from 1825 to 1832. Born in Sint-Oedenrode, he lived at the mansion for a period and in 1843 it went to his only son, Rutger Bangeman Huygens van Löwendal. The property was bought in 1850 by Peter Jacob Girard de Mielet van Coehoorn and was given its present form as a country stay. During World War II, Henkenshage was used as a distribution centre, and during the liberation of Holland (Operation Market Garden) in 1944 it was the headquarters of the US 101st Airborne Division. It is now known as Kasteel Henkenshage and is a Wedding and Function Centre.

Zijtaart is a village in the south of the Netherlands. It is situated in the municipality of Meierijstad, North Brabant. As of January 2015 it has a population of 1,727.
