The Tennyson Power Station was a coal-fired power station in Tennyson, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, which operated between 1953 and 1986. The power station was the second major plant constructed for Brisbane, the first being the New Farm Powerhouse. It had an installed capacity of 250 MW.Planning for a new power station started in 1946 as plants at New Farm and Bulimba had reached capacity. Before the Tennyson Power Station was completed demand for power was exceeding capacity. This led to the successful staggering of work hours and some restrictions on electricity use. The land on which the power station was built was acquired by Brisbane City Council in 1947 as an ideal site to generate power for the city, due to its proximity to the Brisbane central business district and both rail and river access from Ipswich. Construction of the power station began in 1949.The power plant was fueled by subbituminous coal, transported via the Brisbane River on barges from Ipswich. After the power station was shut down, demolition was avoided for many years, partially due to the hazardous nature of the asbestos used in construction. The opening scene of the 2002 film Scooby-Doo was filmed here. In 2005, a contract was awarded to the developer Mirvac by the Government of Queensland to develop the site. The power station was demolished and both the Queensland Tennis Centre and Tennyson Reach apartment complex were built in its place.

Yeronga is a southern riverside suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the 2016 census, Yeronga had a population of 6,535 people.

Melo partnered with André Sá, but lost in the first round to Travis Parrott and Filip Polášek. The 2011 Brisbane International was a joint ATP and WTA tennis tournament, played on outdoor hard courts in Brisbane, Queensland. It was the 3rd edition of the tournament and took place at the Queensland Tennis Centre in Tennyson and was held from 2 to 9 January 2011. It was part of the Australian Open Series in preparation for the first grandslam of the year. During the tournament, $10 was donated for every ace to the fund supporting the current Queensland floods, which was unfolding during the tournament.

Lukáš Dlouhý and Paul Hanley were the defending champions but decided not to participate together. Dlouhý played alongside Marcelo Melo (lost in the first round to Tommy Haas and Radek Štěpánek), while Hanley partnered up with Jamie Murray (eliminated in the Quarterfinals to Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecău). First seeds Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor won the title, defeating second seeds Jürgen Melzer and Philipp Petzschner in the final.

Victoria Azarenka was the defending champion, but chose not to participate this year. Kim Clijsters won in the final 6–3, 4–6, 7–6(8–6), against her compatriot Justine Henin, saving two match points in the third set. Henin marked her return from the tournament after her first retirement.

Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor were the defending champions, but decided not to participate. Unseeded pair Marcelo Melo and Tommy Robredo won the title, defeating Eric Butorac and Paul Hanley in the final, 4–6, 6–1, [10–5].
