Col. William Rhett House

The Moses Levy Building is a Greek Revival commercial structure located at 254 King St., Charleston, South Carolina. In April 1838, a fire swept through the neighborhood around 254 King St. and destroyed a house belonging to Moses Levy. In June 1839, the South Carolina General Assembly created a program which financed the rebuilding of the area, and Moses Levy secured a "fire loan" to construct a three-story masonry building at the site. Levy died in 1839, and the house remained in his estate for fifty years until it was bought by two of his granddaughters. On March 3, 1909, seventy years after it was built, the house was sold outside the Levy family to Marx Lazarus.Throughout the history of the building, it has housed commercial interests, starting with a jewelry. Around the turn of the twentieth century, rooms on the second floor were also used for meeting spaces by various organizations.The three-story building is typical of the Greek Revival style, commercial buildings erected after the fire of 1838. It has a simple parapet along the roofline and cast iron grills inset near of the top of the front façade. The exterior stucco was scored to resemble stonework. The south side of the building has earthquake bolts with decorative lions head covers; the earthquake bolts repaired damage from the Great Earthquake of 1886.

St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church is a Catholic church in Charleston, South Carolina, and was the first Catholic parish established in the Carolinas and Georgia. The current building at 93 Hasell Street and is the third structure to house the congregation on this site.

Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim (Hebrew: קהל קדוש בית אלוהים, also known as K. K. Beth Elohim, or more simply Congregation Beth Elohim) is a Reform Synagogue located in Charleston, South Carolina. Having founded the congregation in 1749, it was later claimed to be the first Reform synagogue located in the United States, the current 1841 synagogue was built by enslaved African descendants owned by David Lopez Jr, a prominent slaveowner and proponent of the Confederate States of America, after the original synagogue was destroyed in a fire in 1838. It is one of the oldest Jewish congregations in the United States. The congregation is nationally significant as the place where ideas resembling Reform Judaism were first evinced. It meets in an architecturally significant 1840 Greek Revival synagogue located at 90 Hasell (pronounced as if it were spelled Hazel) Street in Charleston, South Carolina. It was designed by Cyrus L. Warner.

The Rev. Robert Smith House is a pre-Revolutionary house at 6 Glebe St., Charleston, South Carolina which is used as the official residence for the president of the College of Charleston. The present use is an odd twist of history; Rev. Robert Smith, whose name has been given to the house, was the first Episcopal bishop of South Carolina and was also himself the first president of the College of Charleston.In 1698, Affra Coming donated 17 acres to the Anglican Church for use as glebe lands (i.e., lands used for rental income for a church). In 1770, streets were laid out through the lands, and a parsonage for St. Philip's Episcopal Church was planned for four acres. The house's property included the land all the way to Wentworth St. The house was built in about 1770. It is a large, two-story, double house of Carolina brick on a high foundation.The house was restored by the College of Charleston in 1965 by Herbert DeCosta. The president of the college moved into the house in 1966. When College of Charleston president George Benson moved out of the house in August 2014, maintenance workers discovered water infiltration problems which would require approximately $100,000 in repairs; although Glenn McConnell was sworn in as the new president of the college, he has not begun occupying the house while awaiting the repairs.

The Charleston Place is a hotel in the historic center of Charleston, South Carolina. It was built in a style to fit with the architecture of surrounding 1800s buildings and opened on September 2, 1986. It is the largest hotel in Charleston at 434 rooms.The “Quadriga” sculpture in the fountain at the front entrance (between Meeting and Hasell Street) is by John W. Mills, a member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors and the Royal Society of Arts. Its four 9-foot bronze horses represent the significance of the horse in Charleston’s history, as well as its present-day role. At the top of the sculpture is a Carolina bird of prey. The adjacent Art Deco Riviera Theatre is owned by The Charleston Place and is a National Historic Landmark within the Charleston Historic District. Built in 1939, it was one of the first movie theaters in the city. Acquired by Beemok Hospitality Collection in 2021, The Riviera reopened to the public for the first time in 45 years.The lobby of the hotel features a hand-blown Venetian chandelier set between a Georgian open arm staircase. At 12 feet in diameter and in height, the chandelier is made of more than 3,000 individual pieces of glass, hand blown in Murano, Italy. It weighs approximately two and one-half tons. In 1995, Orient-Express Hotels acquired the hotel and in 2014, the company changed its name to Belmond Ltd. At that time the hotel was renamed The Charleston Place. In 2022, the hotel was purchased by Beemok Hospitality Collection and is now an independent hotel.

Grace Church Cathedral, located in Charleston, South Carolina, is the diocesan cathedral of the Episcopal Church in South Carolina. It is also a contributing property in the Charleston Historic District. The parish was founded as the city's fifth Episcopal Church congregation in 1846. The Gothic Revival church was designed by E.B. White and completed in 1848. The church remained open during the American Civil War until it was hit by a shell in January 1864. It reopened the following year. The church was also severely damaged in an earthquake in August 1886, in a hurricane in 1911, and in Hurricane Hugo in 1989. It was selected to be the cathedral at the annual diocesan convention in November 2015; the previous diocesan cathedral, the Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul, became affiliated with the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina in 2012. Robert Willis, Dean of Canterbury, presented the newly designated cathedral with a Canterbury Cross at a special service in April 2016. Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Michael Curry was also present.
