Porthleven () is a town, civil parish and fishing port near Helston, Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The most southerly port in Great Britain, it was a harbour of refuge when this part of the Cornish coastline was infamous for wrecks in the days of sail. The South West Coast Path from Somerset to Dorset passes through the town. The population at the 2011 census was 3,059.

Established under the Local Government Act 1894, the rural district was abolished in 1934 to create Camborne–Redruth Urban District and Kerrier Rural District, as well as enlarging Helston Municipal Borough.

Penrose (Cornish: Penros) is a house (in private ownership) and National Trust estate amounting to 1536 acres, east of Porthleven and in the civil parish of Sithney, Cornwall, England. The estate includes Loe Pool and Loe Bar which was given into the ownership of the National Trust in 1974 by Lt. Cdr. J. P. Rogers, and stretches along the coast to Gunwalloe. The estate was owned by the Penrose family for several hundred years before 1771 when it was bought for £11,000 by the Rogers family, whose descendants still reside in Penrose House.

The village is three miles (5 km) west of Helston.Other settlements in the parish include the villages of Ashton, Carleen and Godolphin Cross; the coastal village of Praa Sands; and the Great Work Mine. The ward population at the Census 2011 had increased to 4,757. Breage civil parish had a population increase to 3181.Breage is named after Saint Breaca, a missionary from Ireland (to whom the 15th-century church is dedicated) and it is in the former Kerrier District.

Breaney Methodist chapel is a Methodist chapel in the village of Breage, near Helston, Cornwall, UK. The chapel is on Trewithick road in Breage, past the school. It was built in 1829 for and by the Miners of Breage. There were many other chapels in Breage parish (all of them turned into houses except one which is now a social club). The chapel is listed as of having architectural merit and must be painted white as it is a marker for fishermen in the bay. It was officially called Troon Methodist chapel until 1992 when the name changed to Breaney. Breaney was the name chosen by the uniting congregations of Breage and Sithney obviously taking half of each name! In 1992 the chapel was renovated with a new first floor worship area, new seating, new carpets, new paint, a new organ and more whilst key features such as the gallery pews and plaster columns were retained. In 2016 the future of the chapel was questioned in a rationalisation process by The Lizard & Mounts bay Methodist circuit. After much prayer and discussion the fellowship are seeking new ways to serve the community and share the love of God. The Methodist chapel originally had a very old, mainly wood pipe organ which was fitted in the organ loft but in 1992 the organ was taken out and replaced by an electronic organ. There is an Ordnance Survey benchmark on the bottom wall of the chapel on a corner.

Breage Parish Church is the Anglican parish church of the parish of Breage, Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is dedicated to Saint Breage or Breaca, said to have been an Irish nun who came to Cornwall in the 5th-century.

Wheal Fortune or Great Wheal Fortune is the site of a mine in the civil parishes of Breage and Sithney in west Cornwall. Part of the disused mine was designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its geological interest in 1991 and is also a Geological Conservation Review site of national importance for the minerals on the site.

Trewithick is a hamlet in the parish of Breage in Cornwall, England. The hamlet is at the end of Trewithick Road from the A394 (formally known as School Road) and is at the junction between Porthleven and Rinsey via Breage. The hamlet is mainly farms; however, there are also some cottages there. Breaney Methodist Chapel is about half a mile from the hamlet.

Sithney (Cornish: Merthersydhni) is a village and civil parish in the West of Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. Sithney is north of Porthleven. The population including Boscadjack and Crowntown at the 2011 census was 841.It is named after Saint Sithney, the patron saint of the parish church. Saint Sithney was one of the band of Irish missionaries who came to west Cornwall. William Worcester recorded in 1478 that the body of the saint lay within the church.

The Loe (Cornish: An Logh), also known as Loe Pool, is the largest natural freshwater lake (50 hectares (120 acres)) in Cornwall, United Kingdom. The earliest recorded appearance of this simple name form was in 1337, when it was called "La Loo", but is mentioned as 'the lake' in 1302; Situated between Porthleven and Gunwalloe and downstream of Helston, it is separated from Mount's Bay by the shingle bank of Loe Bar. Both the Loe (including the southern arm known as Carminowe Creek) and Loe Bar are situated within the Penrose Estate, which is administered by the National Trust, and are designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest by Natural England. It is within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is considered a classic Geological Conservation Review Site. The South West Coast Path, which follows the coast of south-west England from Somerset to Dorset passes over Loe Bar.

Wheal Vor was a metalliferous mine about 2 miles (3.2 km) north west of Helston and 1 mile (1.6 km) north of the village of Breage in the west of Cornwall, England, UK. It is considered to be part of the Mount's Bay mining district. Until the mid-19th century the mine was known for its willingness to try out new innovations. Although very rich in copper and tin ores, the mine never lived up to its expectations. During the later part of the 19th century it had several periods of closure, with an attempt to reopen it in the 1960s which was not successful mainly because of bureaucracy. Today the site is part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape.
