John S. Battle High School is a high school located in the Southwest portion of Virginia in Washington County. Built in 1959, the school was named after former Virginia Governor John S. Battle.

Walnut Grove, also known as the Robert Preston House, is a historic plantation house located just outside Bristol in Washington County, Virginia. It was built about 1815, and is a two-story, Georgian style timber-frame dwelling covered with wood weatherboard. The house has a gable roof and has a one-story full-width porch. The Grove was built on the Walnut Grove property in 1857.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Virginian Golf Club, designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 1992, is a luxury golf community located in Bristol, Virginia. It features an 18-hole golf course along with a golf club house, and a swimming and racquet club.

The Moonlite Theatre, also known as the Moonlite Drive-In, is a historic drive-in theater located near Abingdon, Washington County, Virginia. It was built and opened in 1949, and remained one of the few drive-ins still open in Virginia until finally closing in 2013. The theater reopened briefly in 2016 but closed shortly after due to a pending lawsuit. Remaining original buildings and structures include the 65-foot-tall screen tower and office wing, the ticket booth, the concession stand/projector booth building, and the neon-illuminated attraction board at the edge of the highway. The theatre includes 454 parking/viewing spaces designed as reverse-incline ramps.

Douglass School is a historic school building for African-American children in Bristol, Virginia. The original section was built in 1921, with additions and alterations from about 1929 and 1963. It is a two-story, three-bay brick building with a flat roof.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Virginia High School is a high school located in Bristol, Virginia. In 1999, Virginia High started offering the Tri-Cities area's first International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Classes from the Advanced Placement program are also offered to help students who are headed to college. A career and technical wing was added to the main school building to help students who wish to go into a trade straight from high school. Courses offered for this path include: culinary arts, cybersecurity, engineering and manufacturing, coding, business, horticulture, auto-mechanics, building trades, and nursing. Activities include: athletics, academic teams, Spring Festival, and Queen of Hearts. The Spring Festival is an event where students can showcase talent and art combined with a beauty pageant to choose Mr. and Miss Virginia High. The Queen of Hearts Program is an event every February where students at Virginia High, Bristol Tennessee High School, John S. Battle High School, and Abingdon High School compete to raise money for the American Heart Association. Virginia High offers competition on academic teams via the Virginia High School League Scholastic Bowl and Southwest Academic Conference (SWAC). Forensics, robotics, literary magazine, yearbook, and drama are other way for students to showcase their speech and intellectual abilities.

Virginia Intermont College (VI) was a private college in Bristol, Virginia. Founded in 1884 to create additional educational opportunities for women, the college had been coeducational since 1972. It experienced significant financial difficulties during the last years of its existence, was denied accreditation in 2013, and announced its closure on May 20, 2014.The name "Intermont" was a reference to the college's mountain setting. The Holston Range, which merges into the Blue Ridge Mountains, can be seen from the campus in Bristol, Virginia, part of the Tri-Cities region, which also includes Johnson City and Kingsport, Tennessee.

East Hill Cemetery, also known as Maryland Hill, Round Hill, Rooster Hill, and City Cemetery, is a historic cemetery located at Bristol, Virginia. It is an American Civil War-era cemetery established in 1857, with sections for Confederate soldiers and veterans as well as a small section for African American burials. In 1995, the United Daughters of the Confederacy put up a small commemorative monument to the Civil War dead. Among its graves are the founders of the city, representatives of enslaved African-Americans, Civil War soldiers including those who died as a result of the war as well as those who survived the war, a Revolutionary War General of Militia Evan Shelby, and many who have made contributions to Bristol and the nation. It straddles the Tennessee-Virginia border.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

The G.W. Blackley House is one of the oldest houses in Bristol, Tennessee. It was listed on the Bristol Register of Historic Places in 2010. This federal style house was constructed by noted local furniture builder George W. Blackley at 122 East State Street in 1869. Blackley was one of the early settlers of Bristol, arriving in the area from Albemarle County, Virginia, around 1855. He was a master carpenter who built homes and made fine furniture for other settlers.The house stands near historic East Hill Cemetery, where many who took up arms in a war of rebellion against the United States on behalf of the Confederacy are buried, including James Keeling.The G.W. Blackley house is one of the oldest homes in the town of Bristol and the first home built on East Hill. Historic restoration is planned beginning in 2011–2012. The remaining property consists of 0.30 acres.
