Adams, Massachusetts

Adams is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the town of Adams in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 5,515 at the 2010 census, out of 8,485 in the entire town of Adams.

The Berkshire Mill No. 1 is a historic mill complex on Hoosac Street in the center of Adams, Massachusetts. Built in 1895 by the locally prominent Plunkett family, it is an important surviving reminder of the town's industrial textile past. Now converted into mixed residential and commercial use, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum (reporting mark BRMX) is a railroad museum located in Lenox, Massachusetts, United States that offers historical exhibits. The museum was founded in 1984 as a not-for-profit organization. During the 1980s and 2003–2011, it offered tourist train rides between Lenox and Stockbridge on the Housatonic Railroad right-of-way. In 2016 the museum began tourist train service in North Adams, Massachusetts.

The Simmons Block is a historic commercial building in Adams, Massachusetts. Built about 1885, it is one of town's most elaborate examples of Queen Anne Victorian architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Adams is a former train station at 10 Pleasant Street in Adams, Massachusetts. Built in 1899, it served as the town's principal rail station on the North Adams Branch of the Boston and Albany Railroad until the mid-20th century. The surviving buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 as the Pittsfield & North Adams Passenger Station and Baggage & Express House. The former station is currently the home of a sports bar and restaurant.

The Jones Block is a historic commercial building at 49–53 Park Street in Adams, Massachusetts. Built about 1895, it is one of a small number of surviving commercial buildings from the town's most rapid period of growth. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Park Street Firehouse is an historic fire station in Adams, Massachusetts. It was built around 1890, during the boom of Adams' industrial facilities, and is a prominent local example of Queen Anne Victorian architecture executed in brick. The station, now in commercial use, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Berkshire Arts & Technology Charter Public School (BART), located in Adams, United States is a tuition-free, college-preparatory public school serving 6th through 12th grade students in Berkshire County. Students may enter in 6th through 10th grade, no new students are accepted in the 11th or 12th grade year. BART primarily serves students in Adams, Cheshire, Clarksburg, Florida, Hancock, Lanesborough, North Adams, Pittsfield, Savoy and Williamstown. Students from other towns may enroll if space is available.

The P.J. Barrett Block is a historic block in Adams, Massachusetts. It is one of the four brick buildings on Park Street along with the Jones Block, Armory Block, and the Mausert Block, opposite the Town Hall. The block was built in roughly 1880, during a period of rapid industrial expansion in Adams. The original uses of the building were to provide retail shops on the ground floor and apartment-style housing above, a common feature of buildings of the period. It has a somewhat utilitarian appearance, which may be reflective of the relative haste in which it was designed and built. The building has a brick face, and the windows on the upper floors have curved pediments. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.In 1984, after a period of abandonment, the building was rehabilitated by Dawson Associates into two commercial spaces and eight apartments of affordable housing. Financing was a blended form from an area bank, the (then) Massachusetts Government Land Bank under a pilot program to encourage changes in local tax abatement procedures to incentivize the redevelopment of abandoned properties, and the Town of Adams. Dawson Associates consisted of Mr. Donald Ruffer a prominent area Realtor, Mr. Richard Moscatelli, Executive Director of Housing Now, and Carter Terenzini, the City of Pittsfield's first Commissioner of Community and Economic Development and subsequently a Principal of RCT Associates. All were from Pittsfield, MA. In June 2016, a fire on a stove in a third floor apartment, displaced four families and resulted in damage to the upper floors and attic.

The Armory Block is a historic commercial building at 39-45 Park Street in Adams, Massachusetts. Built in 1894-95, it is a fine example of Renaissance Revival architecture, and one of the town's most architecturally sophisticated commercial buildings. It served as the local National Guard armory until 1914, and now houses commercial businesses. It was listed on the National Historic Register in 1982.

St. Stanislaus Kostka Church is a mission church designated for Polish immigrants in Adams, Massachusetts, United States.Founded in December 1902, it is one of the Polish-American Roman Catholic parishes in New England in the Diocese of Springfield in Massachusetts. On January 1, 2009, was temporarily closed by decision of the Bishop Timothy A. McDonnell of the Diocese of Springfield in Massachusetts. After 1,150 days of parishioners sitting in vigil, it was announced on February 18, 2012, that St. Stan's would reopen on Palm Sunday (April 1) 2012. The church offers Sunday Mass, all Holy Days of Obligation, weddings, funerals, and baptisms. St. Stan's now serves as a mission church of St. John Paul II Parish in Adams.

The Mausert Block is a historic commercial building at 19—25 Park Street in Adams, Massachusetts. Built in 1900-01, it is a prominent local example of Romanesque Revival architecture. It is one of the four brick buildings on Park Street along with the P. J. Barrett Block, Jones Block, and Armory Block, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
