Bradshaw is an unincorporated community in the northern sections of Montgomery and Roanoke counties in the U.S. state of Virginia. Bradshaw occupies a narrow valley between the north slope of Fort Lewis Mountain and the south slope of Catawba Mountain.Bradshaw is bisected by State Route 622, known as Bradshaw Road, which runs from State Route 311 at Masons Cove in Roanoke County to North Fork Road at Ironto in Montgomery County. A portion of the road passes alongside the Havens Wildlife Management Area of the Virginia Department of Games and Inland Fisheries. The regional landfill for the Roanoke Valley is located in Bradshaw. Refuse is delivered to the landfill once per day by a special train operated by Norfolk Southern instead of by truck over Bradshaw Road. The Montgomery County portion of Bradshaw is part of the Blacksburg–Christiansburg Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the Roanoke County portion is part of the Roanoke Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Johnsville Meetinghouse, also known as Johnsville Old German Baptist Meetinghouse, is a historic Old German Baptist Brethren meeting house located near Catawba, Roanoke County, Virginia. It was built in 1874, and is a simple, one story, one room building with five bays and a partial basement. It has a metal gable roof and features hand-planed clapboard siding and handmade window frames and glass.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Glenvar High School is a public high school in Roanoke County, Virginia, United States. It is one of the five high schools for the Roanoke County public school system. Glenvar High School serves the western end of Roanoke County and is located in the community of Glenvar, which is immediately west of Salem, Virginia.

Dixie Caverns is a commercial show cave located in the Riverside community of Roanoke County, Virginia, USA, four miles west of Salem. The cave is a limestone solution cave.

Pleasant Grove, also known as Joseph Deyerle House, Deyerle Homeplace, and Glenvar is a historic home located near Salem in Roanoke County, Virginia. It was built in 1853, and is a two-story, three-bay, Greek Revival style brick dwelling. The front facade features a well-proportioned Ionic order portico with slender tapered, fluted columns. It also has an original sunroom measuring 7 feet by 14 feet. Also on the property are the contributing kitchen (now connected to the main house), spring house, smokehouse, servant's house, and privy.Much of the woodwork was done by a carpenter named Gustave A. Sedon, who worked closely with both Joseph and his half-brother, Benjamin Deyerle. "One of the most interesting things about Pleasant Grove is the fine architectural detail on the front which was put out on the house by Gustavus Sedon (sic), a German carpenter/handyman contractor. The house has interesting Ionic columns which Sedon carved and a cast iron balcony up on the top which Sedon or Joseph Deyerle, the owner of the house, ordered from Lynchburg, Virginia or maybe from Richmond. Someday I'll pursue this iron work but its interesting to know that the exact ironwork is on the Witherow house in Lexington, Virginia, on a house on Main Street in Lynchburg, Virginia, and another building in Richmond, Virginia."It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

McDonalds Mill is an unincorporated community in the northeastern section of Montgomery County, Virginia. Located approximately 10 miles east of Blacksburg, Virginia along State Route 785, McDonalds Mill lies at the floor of the Catawba Valley and is bound on the south by Paris Mountain and to the north by Gallion Ridge.

Glenvar is a census-designated place (CDP) in western Roanoke County, Virginia, United States. The population as of the 2010 Census was 976. The center of the community lies along US 11/US 460 about one mile west of the Salem city limits. The community is home to Glenvar High School which serves most of the western sections of Roanoke County. As a result, the entire area of Roanoke County which is west of Salem and in the Roanoke Valley between Poor Mountain and Fort Lewis Mountain, including other communities such as Wabun, Fort Lewis, and Dixie Caverns, is often called Glenvar. In January 2020 the Swedish truck maker Volvo announced that they would build an assembly plant for its subsidiary Mack trucks in Glenvar. The plant is expected to employ 250 people. This was reported by the Roanoke Times by Casey Fabris on 30 January 2020. However, the global pandemic of the coronavirus has halted production temporarily at all of Mack(Volvo) locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia.

Riverside is an unincorporated community in western Roanoke County, Virginia, United States. The community lies along the Roanoke River near Dixie Caverns along U.S. 11/U.S. 460. The area is more commonly referred to as Dixie Caverns instead of Riverside.

Bonsack is an unincorporated community in eastern Roanoke County, Virginia, United States. The community is located near the junction of US 460 and US 220 Alternate.

Havens Wildlife Management Area is a 7,190-acre (29.1 km2) Wildlife Management Area in Roanoke County, Virginia. Located in the Appalachian Highlands and occupying a part of Fort Lewis Mountain, it is steep and generally inaccessible; elevations in the area range from 1,500 to 3,200 feet (460 to 980 m) above sea level. Save for a few intermittent streams and watering holes created for wildlife, there is little water present; in addition, the area's soils are generally shallow and poor. The area was previously used for timber production, and today hosts a mixture of oaks, hickories, and pine.Havens Wildlife Management Area is owned and maintained by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. The area is open to the public for hunting, trapping, hiking, horseback riding, and primitive camping. Access for persons 17 years of age or older requires a valid hunting or fishing permit, or a WMA access permit.

Bowstring Truss Bridge, also known as the Roaring Run Bowstring Truss Bridge and King Tubular Arch Truss Bridge, is a historic bowstring truss bridge located at the Ironto Rest Area near Ironto, Montgomery County, Virginia. It was built by the King Bridge Company in 1878, and is a single-span, four-panel tubular arch pony truss. It measures 55 feet (17 m) long, 12 feet (3.7 m) wide, and 6 feet 6 inches (1.98 m) high with an open roadway width of approximately 9 feet 6 inches (2.90 m). The bridge was partially disassembled and moved from its original location to a second site during the 1930s, where it remained until moved to its current location in 1977.The bridge was documented by the Historic American Engineering Record in 1983 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Lafayette is a census-designated place (CDP) between the cities of Roanoke and Christiansburg in eastern Montgomery County, southwest Virginia, United States. The population as of the 2010 Census was 449. It is located adjacent to Elliston, at the confluence of the North and South Forks of the Roanoke River. The Lafayette Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
