Castle Rock (Colorado)

Castle Rock is a home rule town that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Douglas County, Colorado, United States. The town population was 73,158 at the 2020 United States Census, a 51.68% increase since the 2010 United States Census. Castle Rock is the most populous Colorado town (rather than city) and the 16th most populous Colorado municipality. Castle Rock is a part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Front Range Urban Corridor. The town is named for the prominent, castle-shaped butte near the center of town.

Douglas County School District Re. 1 is a school district that serves Douglas County, Colorado. The district was formed in 1958 by the consolidation of 17 smaller school districts, adding the "Re. 1" to its name to note the district's first reorganization. In August 2019, the Arapahoe Community College Sturm Collaboration Campus at Castle Rock, Colorado has opened. This is a partnership with the district and Colorado State University. Classes at the new 43,000-square-foot facility at 4500 Limelight Ave. begins Aug. 19. Initial educational offerings will be in the areas of business and entrepreneurship, health care, cybersecurity and secure software, information technology/programming, general education and workforce training.

The First National Bank of Douglas County, at 300 Wilcox St. in Castle Rock, Colorado, in Douglas County, Colorado, was built in 1904. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. It was designed by architect George Louis Bettcher. It was deemedsignificant for its architecture. It is an excellent intact example of the Late Victorian design with many elements of Romanesque Revival style.... The two-part corner commercial building is faced with rock-faced rhyolite stone that was quarried outside of Castle Rock. This building was the second home for the bank and represents economic shifts occurring in the community as the bank sought a more permanent home during a time of community growth and as the bank shifted from out of state "back East" investors to local ownership. It has also been known as the Masonic Building. Its second floor was originally used as a meeting hall for local fraternal organizations. The building was vacant for three years starting in 1933, then purchased by the local Masons.It is the only architect-designed Romanesque Revival building in Castle Rock.

The Castle Rock Depot is a historic Denver & Rio Grande Railway train station, now the Castle Rock Museum and located at 420 Elbert St. in Castle Rock, Colorado.

Douglas County High School, sometimes nicknamed as DCHS and locally identified as DC, is a public high school in Castle Rock, Colorado. It is the oldest school in the Douglas County School District.

Daniel C. Oakes High School is a public school located in Castle Rock, Colorado. The school is a part of Douglas County School District RE-1. It has 161 students and has courses from grades 9–12.The school was founded in the year 1986. Derek Fleshman is the principal of the school.

Castle View High School is a public high school in Castle Rock, Colorado. It is part of the Douglas County School District. It opened in August 2006.

The Meadows is a master planned community, located in Castle Rock, Colorado along the Rampart Range of the Rocky Mountains Front Range. It is approximately 24 miles (39 km) south of Denver and 41 miles (66 km) north of Colorado Springs. The community is interconnected by 24 miles (39 km) of trails and contains 1,100 acres (4.5 km2) of parks and land for public use. Within the community, there are several schools, churches, playgrounds, ball fields, pools, restaurants and a cultural arts center.

Ridgeline Open Space is a public park located within The Meadows neighborhood in Castle Rock, Colorado along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. It sits at an elevation of 6,607 feet (2,014 m) and consists of 370 acres (1.5 km2) of public land that has been designated for conservation and recreational use. There are over 8 mi (13 km) of trails with panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains to the west and Castle Rock below.

Continental Divide Raceways was a race track located in Castle Rock, Colorado, about 30-mile (48 km) south of Denver. Built in 1959, it featured a 2.8-mile (4.5 km) road course, half-mile (.805 km) oval, and 4,200-foot (1,300 m) drag strip. The land was intended to be used for a multi-sport spectator venue, but a racing complex was built after a hill climb was staged on the property. The track saw its most active time in the 1960s, hosting the USAC National Championship, major sports car races, and Trans-Am. On July 30, 1972 Evel Knievel successfully jumped 11 Dodge vehicles on his motorcycle at the track. The track closed in 1979 due to a fatal accident but reopened in 1981, holding a NASCAR Winston West Series stock car race in 1982 before being sold to real estate developers in 1983.
