Wellington, a village in Herefordshire, England at grid reference SO494481 had a population of 1005 in the 2011 census .The village is sheltered by the wooded slopes of Dinmore Hill to the north, close to the A49 and roughly midway between Hereford and Leominster. Its half timbered 'black and white' houses mixed with later types of buildings in stone and brick give it a strong regional character. A ford through the Wellington Brook by the church is a unique and picturesque sight. The local church is dedicated to St. Margaret of Antioch and is a grade I listed building.The village is a compact settlement mentioned in the Domesday Book. The community is enthusiastic and has recently built an attractive and very successful village shop with a post office and meeting room for hire. An enthusiastic group is mounting a bid to buy the village pub and restore it to success. Another group is developing a much needed children's play area on the sports field. Other groups are establishing accessible footpaths for the disabled. Wellington Primary School is Ofsted rated good and has a current roll of 73 children. It is in association with the forward looking Leominster Primary. The Wellington Social club hosts sporting events and is licensed. Extensive playing fields behind the school offer two full size football pitches with flood lighting and stands with covered seating. Also three tennis courts and bowling green. The village has a football team — Wellington FC — which plays in the Hellenic League. There are many local clubs and societies which meet in the Community Rooms run by the Wellington Community Association. Wellington Parish Council meets monthly on the first Thursday.

Moreton on Lugg is a village and civil parish in Herefordshire, England. The city and county town of Hereford is approximately 3 miles (5 km) to the south; the market and minster town of Leominster 8 miles (13 km) to the north.The village lies between the A49 trunk road and the Welsh Marches railway line. At the 2001 Census, the population of the village was 952, which had decreased to 920 by the time of the 2011 Census.The settlement is mentioned in the Domesday Book as being in the Hundred of Cutestornes and having eight villagers and five slaves. The name derives from Old English Mōr-tūn (town by a fen), and its proximity to the River Lugg. In Medieval times, the village was listed as Morton Juxta Logge. In the 16th century the Lords of the Manor at Morton-upon-Lugg were the Perrott family.The village had a railway station on the Welsh Marches Line that operated between December 1853 and June 1958. In the early days of railway operation, the railway station at Moreton was notable for having its ticket office inside a hollow oak tree with a circumference of 62 feet (19 m).The Church of St Andrew is a Grade II listed structure which was built around the 15th century and renovated in 1867. The church is in a joint benefice with the Church of St Peter at Pipe and Lyde.On the other east of the River Lugg is Freens Court, investigated by the TV programme Time Team in 1999 as a possible site for the Saxon palace of King Offa. The dig confirmed the existence of a large aisled building but it was thought to date from the mediaeval period.An area north of the village around SO505477 was used for many years by the Royal Army Ordnance Corps for the storage of surplus materials, including the decorations from the July 1969 investiture of the Prince of Wales. The internal railway at the RAOC site was used for training SAS troops to attack railway carriages. When the RAOC site closed in the early 2000s, it was bought by Greatwest Investments Limited for development into a business park.

Dinmore Manor House is a large rural house in a well-wooded, hilly part of Herefordshire in the least populous parish of the county, Dinmore. It was substantially rebuilt in late 16th century, altered around 1830 and extended around the year 1928. The main house is a Grade II listed building. The outlying chapel is mostly medieval and is grade II* listed.

Moreton-on-Lugg railway station was a station in Moreton-on-Lugg, Herefordshire, England. The station was opened in 1853, closed to passengers in 1958 and closed completely in 1964.

Queen's Wood Country Park is the only designated country park in the county of Herefordshire. A tourist attraction on Dinmore Hill, it has two components. Its arboretum is a 47-acre (0.19 km2) tree collection with over 1,200 rare and frequently exotic trees. Queens Wood's ancient woodland is a 123-acre (0.50 km2) lightly coppiced woodland to maintain a semi-natural habitat which is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Local Nature Reserve (LNR). The site is managed by a partnership between Herefordshire Wildlife Trust and New Leaf.

Dinmore Tunnel is the name given to two railway tunnels located on the former Shrewsbury and Hereford Railway (S&HR) line between Hereford station and Leominster station. The first tunnel (currently the 'up' tunnel) was built in 1853, with the second tunnel (the 'down' tunnel) being added in 1891. Both are still in use and are jointly the 15th longest tunnels on the former Great Western Railway. To the south of the tunnel was Dinmore railway station, which closed in 1958. They are located just south to the village of Hope Under Dinmore and tunnels under Queen's Wood Country Park & Arboretum.

Marden is a village and civil parish in the English county of Herefordshire. Marden village is approximately 7 miles (11 km) due north of the city of Hereford, and is contiguous with the hamlets of Walker's Green and Paradise Green. The parish also includes the hamlet of Burmarsh to the south of the village. The Marches Way long-distance footpath passes through the village and, heading south, then crosses Sutton Walls Hill Fort.A company growing, packing, importing and exporting soft fruit and asparagus is based in the village, and employs more than 2,400 people, predominantly Romanians and Bulgarians, to work on its farms in Herefordshire and Kent.The cattle breeder, Richard de Quincey, lived in Marden from 1922 until his death in 1965.

Pipe and Lyde is a village and civil parish in Herefordshire, England. The parish includes the village of Pipe and Lyde and the hamlets of Lower Lyde and Upper Lyde. The population of the civil parish as taken at the 2011 census was 344. Parts of the church of St Peter date from the 13th century including the south doorway which includes Transitional moulding. James Honeyman-Scott (1956-1982), the Pretenders guitarist, is buried in the churchyard.

Dinmore Hill rises steeply above the River Lugg in Herefordshire, England and is effectively the prominent eastern ridge of an area of high ground which reaches a height of 236 m (774 ft) at Birley Hill some 4 to 5 km (2+1⁄2 to 3 mi) to the west. It lies roughly midway between the town of Leominster to the north and the city of Hereford to the south, the A49 road which links them climbing the hill in a series of sweeping bends. The north–south railway lines run within the two Dinmore Tunnels beneath the hill. In civil engineering preparation for the building of the present Hereford railway station, and as the only company planning to enter the town from the north, in 1849 the Shrewsbury and Hereford Railway company built a brick works north of Dinmore Hill, which was fed by clay from the earthworks of the tunnel being dug underneath it. In 1852, 2+1⁄2 years later and having used 3,250,000 bricks, the first tunnel was completed.At the northern foot of the hill is the hamlet of Hope under Dinmore.Queen's Wood Country Park sits within woodland atop the hill to the west of the road. An area of the flat hilltop to the east of the road was the subject of an archaeological dig by the Time Team television programme in 2009. Its three-day excavation revealed massive ditches which were interpreted as demarcating an Iron Age camp.
