Ahaus

Ahaus (In German Bahnhof Ahaus) is a railway station in the town of Ahaus, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The station lies on the Dortmund–Enschede railway, and its train services are operated by Deutsche Bahn.

The Battle of Stadtlohn was fought on 6 August 1623 between the armies of the Electoral Palatinate and of the Catholic League during the Thirty Years' War. The League's forces were led by Johann Tserclaes, Count of Tilly, the Protestants by Christian of Brunswick. The battle resulted in a resounding Catholic victory that largely ended the military resistance of the Palatinate forces and thus marked the end of the first phase of the Thirty Years' War.

The line between Enschede and Gronau was closed in 1981 and re-opened in 2001. To the west of the station are 3 sidings.

Glanerbrug [ɣlaːnər'brʏx] is a town in the east of the city of Enschede, Netherlands. It is close to the border, formed by the stream Glanerbeek, with Germany and the city of Gronau, North Rhine-Westphalia. The name of Glanerbrug is derived from the bridge over the Glanerbeek (brug in Dutch is bridge in English). On 7 April 1990 the Glanerbrug meteorite fell through the roof of a house there.
