The South-Western City School District is Ohio's sixth largest public school district located southwest of the city of Columbus. The district serves nearly 20,000 students throughout the southwest quadrant of Franklin County, including the cities of Galloway, Georgesville, Grove City, and Urbancrest. Briggsdale is a neighborhood of Franklin County in the city of Columbus, Ohio. The neighborhood is on the west/southwest side of the city within the Hilltop area. The area was first settled and founded by the family of Joseph M. Briggs, after whom the neighborhood was named. Joseph Briggs was an active figure in the early years of the township and county operations. The Briggsdale Methodist church was founded with his help, and it now exists as the New Horizons Methodist Church. The present day Briggsdale neighborhood is located near the historical Green Lawn Cemetery to the north as well as Briggs High School to the west.

The A.G. Grant Homestead in Grove City, Franklin County, Ohio, United States, was built around 1840. It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Grove City High School is a high school in Grove City, Ohio, United States. It is one of the five high schools in the South-Western City Schools district. It houses about 1,900 students in grades 9-12. Formerly Jackson High School, Grove City High School moved from the former Park Street building in 1970, where it had been located since 1929. Grove City High School was chartered in the fall of 1895. The average classroom experience of GCHS teachers is 15.89 years. 46 teachers have bachelor's degrees and 63 have master's degrees or beyond. Special training has included TESA, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) training, site-based leadership training, integrated learning, alternative assessment, and alternative classroom management. Grove City High School has been A School Of Excellence for five years now.

Briggs High School is a four-year high school (grades 9–12) located on the southwest side of Columbus, Ohio. It is a part of Columbus City Schools. The building was built in 1974. Briggs' mascot and sports teams are known as the Bruins, and the school colors are purple and gold.

West Columbus, sometimes referred to as westside or the West Side, is a neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio, United States. Unlike other Columbus neighborhoods, it is a broad geographical term used by locals rather than a subdivision or suburb. West Columbus is defined as the entire southwest side of Columbus, bordered on the north by interstates 70 and 670, within Interstate 71 on the east, and on the south and west by the city limits that reach several miles to the outside of the I-270 outerbelt. It covers the ZIP Codes 43223, 43204, 43228, and 43222.

Beulah Park was Ohio's first thoroughbred racetrack and premier event center, offering live thoroughbred racing from October through to early May. The track also offered Quarter Horse racing on select days throughout the season, with the most notable races occurring in mid-October with three AQHA graded stakes. Located seven miles outside Columbus, Beulah Park was open seven days a week for simulcast wagering. It was also known for the Beulah Park Twins (Katie and Jenna), who were the simulcast hosts from 1997 to 2009.

Franklin County Correctional Center I (also known as Franklin County Main Jail or FCCCI) is a 650-bed medium-maximum security correctional facility located in Columbus, Ohio. It is located at 2460 Jackson Pike, Columbus, OH 43223. It opened in 1986.
