Basham is located at the junction of State Routes 615 and 726, 7.4 miles (11.9 km) south-southeast of Christiansburg. A post office was established at Basham in 1882, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1955. The Frank Lawrence House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

It was built in the mid- to late-19th century, and is a two-story frame double-pile center-passage dwelling with a hipped roof and two massive brick chimneys. Also on the property are a contributing meat house and spring house.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Crockett Springs Cottage, also known as Camp Alta Mons Cottage, is a historic home located at Piedmont, Montgomery County, Virginia. It was built about 1889, and is a one-story, four-bay, two-room, frame cottage on brick piers. It features a porch with flat decorative wood posts and a square baluster railing. It is one of the few surviving structures from the large number of resorts within the county. The Crockett Springs Hotel resort went out of business in 1939.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

It is part of the Blacksburg–Christiansburg Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses all of Montgomery County and the city of Radford. Rogers is located at the intersection of Pilot Road (VA 615) and Elliot's Creek Road (VA 675). It also includes the intersection of Nolley Road and Pilot Road. Elliot's Creek Road, (VA 675) is the historic road that connected Shawsville to Riner in the lower half of Montgomery County. The historic Shawsville to Riner Road is now represented by modern-day Allegheny Springs Road, Split Rail Road, Elliot's Creek Road, Nolley Road, and Union Valley Road.

WFNR was last owned and operated by Monticello Media after its 2018 purchase of Cumulus Media's Blacksburg–Christiansburg cluster.WFNR went off the air on January 31, 2019, due to equipment failures at its transmitter site. The station had special temporary authority to remain silent until July 31.Its license was cancelled on February 11, 2022, for being off the air for 3 years.

Alleghany Springs Springhouse is a historic spring house located on the former grounds of Alleghany Springs, at Alleghany Springs, Montgomery County, Virginia. It was built about 1890, and is a two-tier, rustic, hip-roofed, octagonal pavilion. The structure is supported on rough cedar posts with complex intertwined knots of rhododendron branches and roots forming brackets, railings, and even vaulted "ceilings." At the center of the structure is the Alleghany Spring, that has been blocked.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

William Barnett House is a historic home located at Alleghany Springs, Montgomery County, Virginia. It is a long two-story, log and frame structure consisting of a number of elements of different dates. The earliest section may date to 1813, and is the central log section with a two-story frame or log addition and adjacent room and a frame two-room section added in the mid-19th century. It has a rear wing and is topped by a standing seam metal gable roof. It features a two-story ornamental porch that spans the entire front of the building with chamfered posts and sawn balusters. Also on the property are a contributing two-story, single-pen log kitchen; a small stone shed-roofed greenhouse; and a corn crib.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
