Armory Square

The Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology (often referred to as the MOST) is a science and technology museum located in the Armory Square neighborhood of Downtown Syracuse, New York. The Museum includes 35,000 square feet of permanent and traveling exhibits, Science Shop, and several programs and events. The MOST is located in the former Syracuse Armory. Permanent exhibits include: Innovation Station, Dino Zone!, Earth Science Discovery Cave, Upstate Medical University Life Sciences, Lockheed Martin Flight & Space, Science Playhouse, Technotown, BUILD, PLAY, National Grid Energy: Powering Our Future, World of Pollinators and the Telecommunications Lab (formally Ham Radio Station). The MOST has opened a brand new domed theatre, the National Grid ExploraDome, and media lab, MolinaCares Media Lab, in April 2022, in place of the former Bristol IMAX Omnitheatre."The $2.6 million ExploraDome renovation began in March 2021 and updated the theatre’s screens, seating, and surround sound. The renovations also introduced a second-generation laser-illuminated, ultra-high-resolution Laser CineDome projection system, which is only the second to exist in the world and features true 6K resolution playback." Two documentary films and a planetarium show play each day that the museum is open to the public, with featured films changing quarterly.

Syracuse station was the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western's railroad station in Syracuse, New York. It was housed in different buildings in succession. It hosted trains going north to Oswego, New York on the Lake Ontario coast by way of the DLW's acquisition, the former Oswego and Syracuse Railroad; and it also hosted trains going south to Binghamton on the route of the former Syracuse and Binghamton Railroad, and further (via connection) to Hoboken, New Jersey.

The Jefferson Clinton Hotel, formerly known as the Dome Hotel, in the Armory Square area of Syracuse, New York, is a hotel dating from 1927. It was designed by architect Gustavus A. Young, who also worked on the design for the Hotel Syracuse (1924).It is a 10-story building designed in the Commercial style, incorporating light-colored brick, carved stone, and terra cotta. It has "delicately carved stone lintels" above its second-floor windows. These are 25 single or double windows, around three sides of the building. It is a three-part commercial-style building. It is a contributing building in the Armory Square Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The hotel is identified as the "Dome Hotel" in the NRHP nomination.Out of surviving historic hotel buildings in the district, including the Kirk Block (c.1869), the Crown Hotel (c.l876), and the Stag Hotel (1869), the 1927-built Jefferson Clinton is the only one which has not been converted to other uses. It continues "as one of the city's largest hotels, distinguished by its Commercial style design with carved stone lintels and smooth stone facing on the lower two stories."

The Onondaga Creekwalk is a mostly paved, partly bricked, multi-use trail running 4.8 miles (7.7 km) in Syracuse, New York, which has so far seen more than three decades of planning, construction, and delays, starting in 1988. The trail is designed for bicyclists, skaters, and pedestrians to approximately parallel any desired portion of Onondaga Creek's run connecting Kirk Park on Syracuse's South Side, downstream through downtown at Armory Square, and then on to Onondaga Lake at the creek's ultimate mouth. During both of the two overall phases completed so far, designers were able to route the trail partly as a brand new, dedicated path that stayed within view of Onondaga Creek. Other parts were built as compromises in the face of creekside obstacles, generally co-locating the trail with pre-existing street and sidewalk pavement, usually at a significant distance from the water. When added to pre-existing parkways and city streets paralleling Onondaga Creek between West Colvin Street at Kirk Park, upstream to Ballantyne Road in The Valley neighborhood, the total available creekway distance can be interpreted as a paved run of 6.1 miles (9.8 km).

The Landmark Theatre, originally known as Loew's State Theater, is a historic theater from the era of movie palaces, located on South Salina Street in Syracuse, New York, United States. Designed by Thomas W. Lamb, it is the city's only surviving example of the opulent theatrical venues of the 1920s. The Landmark is on the National Register of Historic Places.

South Salina Street Downtown Historic District is a historic district in the United States, representing what was the commercial core of in Syracuse, New York from the mid-nineteenth century to the mid-twentieth century. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 16, 2009. The vacancy rate in the district is high, and some buildings need extensive rehabilitation. Recent revitalization plans served as impetus for seeking listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally it included the east side of the 200 block of South Salina Street, the entire 300 block and one building in the 400 block. This area had 22 contributing buildings and 3 non-contributing buildings. Among the contributing properties are two the White Memorial Building and the Loew's State Theater, also individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2014 its boundaries were increased to include some more side streets. Architects represented in the district include Horatio Nelson White, Archimedes Russell, Charles E. Colton, Joseph Lyman Silsbee, Charles D. Wilsey and Thomas W. Lamb.

The Nancy Cantor Warehouse, or simply The Warehouse, is a former storage warehouse of the Syracuse-based Dunk and Bright Furniture Company in Downtown Syracuse, New York, United States. It is owned and utilized by Syracuse University. It is currently home to the School of Design of the College of Visual and Performing Arts. It served as the temporary home for the School of Architecture, while the on campus Slocum Hall was being renovated. In addition, the Goldring Arts Journalism Program is headquartered in the building.

The Amos Block is a Romanesque Revival building located on the southwest corner of Clinton Square in Downtown Syracuse, New York. The building's developer and namesake, Jacob Amos, served as mayor of Syracuse from 1892 to 1896. Originally, the Erie Canal ran directly behind the Amos Block, and goods were loaded and unloaded from the building's upper levels onto the Canal, while the first floor on the West Water St side contained a retail grocer. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.In 2006, the Amos Block was renovated, and was renamed "The Amos." The building continues to serve as a multi-purpose structure, with retail (including, once again, a grocery store) on the first floor, and residential apartments on the upper floors.

Wunderbar was a queer bar and theater situated in downtown Syracuse that provided a safe haven for the LGBTQ+ community in the surrounding area. Tanner Efinger, the owner of Wunderbar, fostered this space by presenting a multitude of programming representing individual queer communities and being able to cater to the various wants and needs of the queer community in Syracuse.

The White Memorial Building is a Gothic-style building prominently located on the main downtown street of Syracuse, New York. It was designed by Joseph Lyman Silsbee.

The Wieting Opera House was a performance hall in Syracuse, New York, that hosted operas, films, and other performances from 1852 to 1930. The building's first iteration was funded by John Wieting and known as Wieting Hall. It burnt down after four years, in 1856. Wieting rebuilt the hall that year, and in 1870 renovated it into an opera house. Towards the end of the 19th century, the opera house was a major theater in the Eastern United States and held test performances of shows that were bound for performance on Broadway in New York City. The opera house burnt down in 1881 and 1896, and was rebuilt both times, the second time by Wieting's wife, Mary Elizabeth Wieting. The opera house began showing movies in the early 20th century, and closed in 1930, when it was replaced with a parking garage.

Downtown Syracuse is the economic center of Syracuse, New York, and Central New York, employing over 30,000 people, and housing over 4,300. It is also one of the 26 officially recognized neighborhoods of Syracuse.
