The third Onondaga County courthouse stood in Clinton Square, Syracuse, New York, from 1858 to 1968. Designed by Horatio Nelson White in the Italianate architectural style, the building functioned as a courthouse until 1907. After another courthouse superseded it, the building held various governmental offices for about fifty years. The Onondaga County court was moved from its initial building in the town of Onondaga Hill to a courthouse between Salina and Syracuse in the first half of the 19th century. After the second courthouse burnt down in 1856, White, at the time the best-known Syracuse architect, was hired to design a new building, this time located in downtown Syracuse. The courthouse was made from hand-cut Onondaga Limestone and dedicated in early 1858. Despite renovations into the 1870s, by the turn of the century the building was run-down and a new courthouse was built to replace it. After the court was relocated in 1907, the building held the Syracuse Board of Education until 1945, and several other organizations including the Syracuse Police Department into the 1960s. By the 1960s, the building was largely unoccupied and at threat of demolition. Despite proposals to repurpose the building in various ways, including in the book Architecture Worth Saving in Onondaga County, it was demolished in 1968. The stones that made up the top 36 or 37 feet (11 or 11 m) of the courthouse's 80 feet (24 m) tall tower were preserved and as of 2022 are held unassembled at the Syracuse Hancock International Airport.

Clinton Square is an intersection in downtown Syracuse, New York, United States. The square was the original town center and first came into existence in the early 19th century where roadways from north and south convened. With the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825 the intersection was further transformed. During the 19th century, the square was a marketplace that also hosted several public events, including an 1870 public barbecue reportedly attended by 20,000 people. As a busy intersection, the square hosted several large hotels and other historic buildings. The Soldiers and Sailors Monument was dedicated in the square in 1911. In 1917 the Canal was closed and filled in. In the decades that followed, Clinton Square was redeveloped into a park that holds various annual festivals. Since the 1990s, the square has held an ice skating rink in the winter. A major 2001 redevelopment project saw a larger fountain implemented. Clinton Square is also the site of Syracuse's municipal Christmas tree and menorah during the holiday season. The modern era has seen a number of festivals take place in the square, beginning with the 1991 Jazz Fest.

The Wieting Opera House was a performance hall in Syracuse, New York, that hosted operas, films, and other performances from 1852 to 1930. The building's first iteration was funded by John Wieting and known as Wieting Hall. It burnt down after four years, in 1856. Wieting rebuilt the hall that year, and in 1870 renovated it into an opera house. Towards the end of the 19th century, the opera house was a major theater in the Eastern United States and held test performances of shows that were bound for performance on Broadway in New York City. The opera house burnt down in 1881 and 1896, and was rebuilt both times, the second time by Wieting's wife, Mary Elizabeth Wieting. The opera house began showing movies in the early 20th century, and closed in 1930, when it was replaced with a parking garage.

The Niagara Mohawk Building is an art deco classic building in Syracuse, New York. The building was built in 1932 and was headquarters for the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, what was "then the nation's largest electric utility company".The Art Deco building was designed by Syracuse architect Melvin L. King in a consultation with Buffalo firm Bley and Lyman.The company has since been acquired by merger into National Grid plc. According to the National Park Service: The Niagara Hudson Building in Syracuse is an outstanding example of Art Deco architecture and a symbol of the Age of Electricity. Completed in 1932, the building became the headquarters for the nation’s largest electric utility company and expressed the technology of electricity through its modernistic design, material, and extraordinary program of exterior lighting. The design elements applied by architects Melvin L. King and Bley & Lyman transformed a corporate office tower into a widely admired beacon of light and belief in the future. With its central tower and figurative winged sculpture personifying electric lighting, the powerfully sculpted and decorated building offered a symbol of optimism and progress in the context of the Great Depression. The building was listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places in June 2010. The listing was announced as the featured listing in the National Park Service's weekly list of June 25, 2010. It had then been nominated by New York State's Board of Historic Preservation for listing on the National Register of Historic Places in December 2009.

The C. W. Snow and Company Warehouse was built in 1913. It was designed by Russell & King. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.It was listed for its Modern Movement architecture.The building was renovated extensively in recent years. Windows that had been bricked in were restored, and much more.

The Third National Bank, also known as the Community Chest Building, is located on James Street in Syracuse, New York. It was designed by architect Archimedes Russell in 1885. It is significant for its architecture and for its role in commerce in Syracuse in the late eighteenth century. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The Onondaga County Savings Bank was chartered in 1855 in Syracuse, New York. It was a franchise ahead of its time and had four separate branches by the late 19th century. The Onondaga County Savings Bank Building was constructed in 1897 adjacent to the Erie Canal in Clinton Square.In 1968, the bank shortened its name to Onondaga Savings Bank and in 1987 it changed again to OnBank.

The Gridley Building, built in 1867 and known previously as the Onondaga County Savings Bank Building, is a prominent historic building on Clinton Square and Hanover Square in Syracuse, New York, United States. It was designed by Horatio Nelson White and was built adjacent to what was then the Erie Canal and is now Erie Boulevard.

Syracuse Savings Bank Building, also known as Bank of America building, is a historic building in Syracuse, New York designed by Joseph Lyman Silsbee. It was built in 1875 adjacent to the Erie Canal, and, at 170 feet tall, was the tallest building in Syracuse. It opened in 1876 as Syracuse Savings Bank. Its passenger elevator, the first in Syracuse, was a curiosity that drew visitors.

The Gere Bank Building is a five-story building located on Water Street in Syracuse, New York. It was designed by Charles Colton, and built in 1894. It is distinctive for its facade and use of contrasting materials. The cost of the building was $150,000, including nearly $50,000 for fireproof vaults in a room beneath the sidewalk. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. It is part of the Hanover Square Historic District. In the warm weather months, entertainment is common on the plaza around the fountain. Workers in the surrounding office buildings and retail establishments often lunch there.

The White Memorial Building is a Gothic-style building prominently located on the main downtown street of Syracuse, New York. It was designed by Joseph Lyman Silsbee.
