The Nevada State Museum in Carson City is one of seven Nevada State Museums operated by the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs. The primary building of the museum is the former Carson City Mint. The exhibits include: The world's largest exhibited Columbian Mammoth, found in the Black Rock Desert The silver service from the USS NevadaThe Nevada State Museum, Carson attracts various spectators in observing and appreciating the natural and cultural heritage of Nevada. It demonstrates the history from prehistoric period to modern day of the state including old geology, prehistoric animalian neighbors, days of silver mining and American Indian culture.

The Carson City Mint was a branch of the United States Mint in Carson City, Nevada. It primarily minted silver coins; however, it also minted gold coins, with a total face value in dollars nearly equal to that of its silver coins. The mint minted coins in 21 different years. The Carson City Mint was created in 1863 but was not put into operation until 1870. It ran until 1885, went on a hiatus, and resumed operations in 1889, after which it ran until 1893, when it closed permanently. It is now the Nevada State Museum, Carson City.

The Adams House in Carson City, Nevada, located at 990 N. Minnesota St., is a historic Bungalow/Craftsman-style house that was built during 1922-23 by DeWitt Adams, for his family. It is a "modest" building but a good example of a small bungalow with American Craftsman architecture. Its design is believed to have been a catalog plan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.The property was listed for sale, marketed for use as offices, in 2013.

The David Smaill House, at 313 W. Ann St. in Carson City, Nevada, was built in c.1876. Also known as the Smaill House, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.It was deemed significant "for its associations with the early residential development of Carson City, Nevada", according to its NRHP nomination, which went on to note: "The dwelling is representative of the small, vernacular dwellings associated with Carson City's working class in the late 19th century. The building is architecturally noteworthy for its simplicity of design and elaborate exterior ornamentation.": 3  The original house was built by Smaill at least partway during 1876 and then sold by Smaill in 1877, though David and Rachel Spratte Smaill lived there up to 1879 at least.

The Orion Clemens House, also known as Mark Twain's House, is a two-story Late Victorian house located at 502 N. Division St. in Carson City, the capital of the U.S. state of Nevada. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The listing included two contributing buildings. The house was built in 1862 by Orion Clemens, a lawyer who served as the first Secretary of the Nevada Territory. It has also been known as the Governor's Mansion from times when Orion was territorial governor pro tem while Governor James W. Nye was absent. The house often hosted Orion's younger brother Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain.

Carson Nugget is a hotel and casino located in Carson City, Nevada. The Carson Nugget is nearly 30,000 square feet. The property features slots, table games, keno, three restaurants, meeting spaces and 83 hotel rooms.

The Virginia & Truckee (V&T) Railroad Depot of Carson City, Nevada is a historic railroad station that is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). It is significant for its association with the economically important role of the V&T railroad historically in Carson City following discovery of the Comstock Lode mine in 1859. To a lesser degree, according to its NRHP nomination, the depot building is also significant architecturally "as a well-preserved example of a wood-frame passenger depot procured from a railroad company pattern book within the V&T's former sphere of operation.": 7 Located on the Southeast corner of the Washington Street intersection with Carson Street, it served the Virginia and Truckee Railroad until 1950, when the railroad shut down.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.The Reno, Gold Hill, and original Virginia City Depots still exist, as well as the V&T Freight Depot in Virginia City.

The Carson City Post Office is a historic building in Carson City, Nevada built from 1888 to 1891. It was designed by architect Mifflin E. Bell. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.It is significant as the second federal building built in Nevada (the earliest federal building in Nevada is the Carson City Mint), and the only one of its architectural style, which is Richardsonian Romanesque. It served as a courthouse of the United States District Court for the District of Nevada from 1891 to 1965. In 1999 it was renamed the Paul Laxalt State Building for former Nevada Governor Paul Laxalt, and now houses the Nevada Commission on Tourism.Bell, a Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department, was the initial architect, while work was completed under Supervising Architect successors Will Frost and James Windrum.

The Foreman–Roberts House, formerly the James D. Roberts House and now also known as the Foreman–Roberts House Museum, is a historic house and museum located at 1217 N. Carson St. in Carson City, Nevada. The house was built in 1859 and was moved to the present location in 1873. Known also as the Thurman Roberts House for the last member of the Roberts family, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the headquarters of the Carson City Historical Society and is open to the public by appointment and for special events. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. It is significant "as a rare example of the Gothic Revival Style of architecture", being the only surviving example in Carson City and one of few in Nevada. It is also the oldest surviving house in Carson City.: 3 The house was documented by drawings in the Historic American Buildings Survey program in 1973.

Abraham (or Abram or Abe) Van Santvoord Curry (February 19, 1815 October 19, 1873) is considered the founding father of Carson City, Nevada. A native of the state of New York, he traveled to the West Coast during the California Gold Rush and settled in Nevada's Eagle Valley, where Carson City was established.Curry served as an assemblyman of the Nevada Territorial Legislature from 1862 to 1863 and was a territorial senator from 1863 to 1864. He was also the first superintendent of the Carson City Mint and the first warden of Nevada State Prison. Curry donated 10 acres (4.0 ha) of land for the site of the Nevada State Capitol, for which the state prison quarry provided the stone for its construction.Curry spent the final years of his life building facilities for the Virginia and Truckee Railroad in Carson City. Though he had achieved prominence in Nevada, his wife claimed that he had only one dollar in his pocket when he died in 1873.

The Abraham Curry House, at 406 N. Nevada St. in Carson City, Nevada, was built c. 1871. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. It is a one-story masonry building that was home for Carson City founder Abraham Curry (d. 1873), who was first Superintendent of the United States Mint in Carson City.

The Lew M. Meder House, at 308 N. Nevada St. in Carson City, Nevada, United States, is a historic house with Late Victorian architecture that was built in 1876. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.Measured drawings of the house were prepared by the Historic American Buildings Survey. Its NRHP nomination suggests that its NRHP recognition would support designation of a surrounding area as a historic district.
