Carmel Adventist College is an independent Seventh-day Adventist co-educational secondary day and boarding school, located in the Perth suburb of Carmel, Western Australia, Australia. The College caters for students from Years 7 to 12 and is open to any student who wishes to study and learn within a Christian environment. The College is part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church's worldwide educational system, the world's second-largest Christian school system.

Bickley is a suburb located within the City of Kalamunda, in Perth, Western Australia. It is situated on the Darling Scarp and is known for the brook of the same name.Before 1949 it was a stopping place on the Upper Darling Range Railway. It was originally known as "Heidelburg" or "Heidelberg", but during World War I, Western Australian Government Railways and Tramways renamed it "Bickley" after a local pioneer Wallace Bickley.It has been the site of holiday and other sorts of camps.The Seven Network and Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Perth television transmission towers have been located there since the founding of television in Perth in 1959.Perth Observatory, originally situated in West Perth is also currently located in Bickley.It is also one of the major meteorological stations within the Perth Metropolitan Area due to its length of time of operation and location on the Darling Scarp.It is also the location of water reservoirs.

Pickering Brook is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kalamunda. Prior to 1949 it was a stopping place on the Upper Darling Range Railway. It was named after nearby Pickering Brook. The brook is named after an early settler, Captain Edward Picking whose name was sometimes recorded as Pickering. The suburb of Pickering Brook was officially created on 12 January 1973. Part of it was formerly known as Carilla.Like nearby areas such as Karragullen, Pickering Brook is primarily made up of various family-run orchards. The suburb was seriously under threat in December 2001 from a bushfire.In June 2008, the previously named Pickering Brook National Park associated with the locality was named Korung National Park.

Walliston is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kalamunda. Prior to 1949 it was a stopping place on the Upper Darling Range Railway. It was named after John and Emma Wallis, the area's first settlers who arrived in the 1880s. The name was applied by the Railway Department in 1915.In 2008 the Kalamunda shire redrew Walliston's suburb boundaries, resulting in Wallis Lane and the Wallis homestead, still occupied by descendants of John and Emma Wallis, no longer being considered part of the Suburb of Walliston. The Nine Network's Perth Television transmission tower is located here. This suburb's main feature is a light industrial area in the north-eastern part of the suburb, an Australia Post mail-processing centre, a Transperth bus depot, City of Kalamunda council equipment storage facilities, a large workshop and a few automotive specialists. Walliston Primary School is a public primary school in the suburb.

The Victoria Dam is a water supply dam providing water for the city of Perth, Western Australia. It is situated on the Darling Scarp near Lesmurdie, and crosses Munday Brook. Two dams have stood at the present site; the older dam was the first permanent water supply for the colony and also the first dam in Western Australia. It stood for almost 100 years before being replaced with the current dam.

Hacketts Gully is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kalamunda. It was officially named in 1972 and commemorates an early settler and market gardener, Thomas Hackett.

The Perth Observatory is the name of two astronomical observatories located in Western Australia (WA). In 1896, the original observatory was founded in West Perth on Mount Eliza overlooking the city of Perth (obs. code 319). Due to the city's expansion, the observatory moved to Bickley in 1965. The new Perth Observatory is sometimes referred to as Bickley Observatory (obs. code 322, 323).

Canning Mills is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia in the City of Kalamunda. The suburb was gazetted on 22 September 1972. Its name relates to the Canning River.It was the terminus and main destination of the Canning Jarrah Timber Company-constructed Upper Darling Range Railway during the early stages of its operation until 1912 when the line was extended.

St Brigid's College is an independent Roman Catholic co-educational primary and single-sex secondary day and boarding school for girls, located in Lesmurdie, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. The campus consists of a school for girls only in Year 12 to Year 12 and a co-educational junior school for boys and girls in Year K to Year 6, sporting grounds, and boarding facilities for 137 students. The college's brother school is Mazenod College, where many male students attending St Brigid's Primary School continue their education.

Piesse Brook is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia in the City of Kalamunda. It was officially named in 1972, although the name had been in use since 1890 for a watercourse in the area which honoured William Roper Piesse, a prominent citizen with a large family who were based in Guildford.

Mount Gunjin (1,308 feet (399 m)) is a point of high ground between Mundaring Weir and Kalamunda, south of the Mundaring Weir Road. It is north of Mount Dale and south west of Mundaring Weir. It was the location of a Western Australian Forestry Department fire-watching tower, which had a few names including Mount Gunjin lookout tower.The fire tower and hut site are identified in the Kattamordo Heritage Trail pamphlet as being constructed in 1921.Prior to the relocation of the Perth Observatory from Mount Eliza to Bickley, a site near Mount Gunjin had been considered for the observatory.In 1966 Mount Gunjin became the origin point in Western Australia for the National Geodetic Survey.
