Rake Hall

The A5117 is a road in Cheshire, England. It runs between Shotwick (53.2374°N 2.9875°W / 53.2374; -2.9875 (A5117 road (western end))) and Helsby (53.2613°N 2.7814°W / 53.2613; -2.7814 (A5117 road (eastern end))) and connects the A550 at Woodbank to the M56. As such it forms a northerly bypass to Chester and a shorter route between the North West and North Wales than the A55.

Located off Junction 10 of the M53, it is the largest outlet centre in the United Kingdom, with 145 stores and the first designer outlet village in Europe, when it opened in March 1995. It is run by McArthurGlen, and has a wide range of outlet stores run by large brands. As factory outlets, the stores primarily offer goods from previous seasons at discounted prices. It is a large local employer, with its own JobCentre Plus and retail training academy. Brands include, Bose, Levi's, Fila, Burberry, The North Face, Fred Perry, Calvin Klein Jeans, Karen Millen, Polo Ralph Lauren, Molton Brown, East, Diesel, Tommy Hilfiger, Warehouse, Whittard of Chelsea, Nike Factory Store, Joules and Henri lloyd. There is a leisure park, the Coliseum, located adjacent to the centre, with more shops, Tenpin bowling alley, a Vue Cinema, Freedome and Paradise Island Adventure Golf. Places to eat across the two sites include Frankie & Benny's, Miller and Carter Grill, Nando's, Chiquito, Prezzo, Harry Ramsden's, Spudulike, TGI Friday's, Giraffe, Pizza Express and Wagamama.

Cheshire Oaks Arena is a sports arena that is located as part of the Ellesmere Port Sports Village, a leisure centre in Ellesmere Port, England. On match days, the hall is converted into the arena with a seating capacity for 1,400 spectators. The arena's main tenants are the Cheshire Phoenix, who moved from their previous home at the Northgate Arena in Chester for the start of the 2015–16 season.

Chorlton-by-Backford is a former civil parish in the Borough of Cheshire West and Chester and ceremonial county of Cheshire, England, approximately 3 mi (4.8 km) to the north of Chester. It was abolished in 2015 and merged into the civil parish of Backford.Chorlton Hall is a Grade II listed building within the area.In the 2001 census it had a population of 80, increasing to 124 at the 2011 census.The name is likely derived from the Old English words ceorl (meaning a free peasant) and tūn (a farmstead or settlement).

Croughton is a hamlet and civil parish on the outskirts and 3.5 miles (5.7 km) north of the city of Chester, and part of the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire. The Shropshire Union Canal runs through Croughton.

Stoak is a small village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester; and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. Within the parish, to the west of the village is the intersection of the M53 and M56 Motorways, and to its east the Shropshire Union Canal. The population of the parish as taken at the 2011 census was 171. The name of the parish was changed from the previous Stoke after a review of town and parish councils in the Cheshire West and Chester unitary authority. The parish should not be confused with a different Cheshire parish called Stoke, in Cheshire East. The parish church in the village, St Lawrence's Church, is a Grade II* listed building.

Chorlton Hall is a country house to the east of the village of Backford, Cheshire, England. It was formerly in the parish of Chorlton-by-Backford. The house was built probably in the middle of the 18th century. The original owners were the Stanley family of Hooton. In 1811 it was bought by the historian, George Ormerod, who wrote his History of Cheshire while living in the house. Ormerod sold the house in 1823 to the Wicksted family of Nantwich.It was extended in 1845–46 by the architect Sir James Picton for James Wickstead Swan. The plan of the house is U-shaped. It is rendered with slate roofs and rendered chimney stacks. The house stands on a stone plinth and is in 2½ storeys. Its front is in three bays; the central bay has three windows, the lateral bays project forward, are gabled, and each has one window. Internally, the dining room is plastered in Jacobean style, and the drawing room in Gothic style. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Whitby Park is the main urban park in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, England. It is managed by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Ellesmere Port ( ELZ-meer) is a port town in the Cheshire West and Chester borough in Cheshire, England. Ellesmere Port is on the south eastern edge of the Wirral Peninsula, 6 miles (9.7 km) north of Chester, on the bank of the Manchester Ship Canal. The town had a population of 61,090 in the 2011 census. Ellesmere Port also forms part of the wider Birkenhead urban area, which had a population of 325,264 in 2011.The town was originally established on the River Mersey at the entrance to the Ellesmere Canal. As well as a service sector economy, it has retained large industries including Stanlow oil refinery, a chemical works and the Vauxhall Motors car factory. There are also a number of tourist attractions including the National Waterways Museum, the Blue Planet Aquarium and Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet.

Backford is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. It is situated between Chester and Ellesmere Port on the A41 trunk road, to the north of the Shropshire Union Canal. Backford Cross is located about 2.5 km (1.6 mi) to the north, the village of Mollington is approximately 2.5 km (1.6 mi) to the west and the hamlet of Croughton is about 3 km (1.9 mi) to the east. According to the 2011 census the parish had a population of 117. Formerly a township in the Wirral Hundred, its population was 138 in 1801, 155 in 1851, 141 in 1901, 119 in 1951 and 109 at the 2001 census. The neighbouring civil parish of Chorlton-by-Backford was added to Backford in 2015.St Oswald's Church is in the centre of the village, as is Backford Hall, which is a Grade II listed building. Until its sale for residential redevelopment in 2012, Backford Hall had operated as offices for Cheshire West and Chester Council. Its grounds were used as a golf course by the now defunct Backford Hall Golf Club from the late 1930s until 1950.
