Cheveley Park Stud

Beech House Stud is an English Thoroughbred racehorse breeding farm located on Cheveley Road near Newmarket, Suffolk currently owned by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Shadwell Racing operation. Originally a land parcel within the Cheveley Park Stud of Col. Harry L. B. McCalmont, it was purchased by Charles Hackford who sold it in 1930 to Martin H. Benson. Benson developed Beech House Stud into a major breeding operation. Among the sires he owned was Windsor Lad, winner of the 1934 Epsom Derby and St. Leger Stakes and in 1935, the Coronation Cup and Eclipse Stakes. In 1938, Benson purchased the unbeaten Italian-bred Nearco from owner/breeder Federico Tesio for £60,000. The Leading sire in Great Britain & Ireland in 1947 and 1949, and one of the most important sires of the 20th century, Nearco's enduring legacy stems primarily from three of his sons: Nasrullah, Royal Charger, and Nearctic who sired Northern Dancer. In 1960, Beech House Stud became part of the substantial Thoroughbred racing holdings of Sir Victor Sassoon whose Epsom Derby winners Crepello and St. Paddy stood at stud here. Sassoon died in 1961 and although his widow continued the racing operations for a time, eventually Beech House Stud was sold to the Italian banker Carlo Vittadini, notably the owner of Grundy. Cheveley Castle was a medieval fortified manor house near Cheveley, Cambridgeshire, England.

The village of Cheveley is situated in the county of Cambridgeshire and lies about four miles east-south-east of the market town of Newmarket. The population of the civil parish was 1,990 at the 2011 Census. Cheveley falls within the local government district of East Cambridgeshire. Geographically, Cheveley stands on the third highest point in Cambridgeshire at 127 metres (417 ft) above sea level. The hamlet of Cheveley Park, a mile from Cheveley, is the home of Cheveley Park Stud.

Woodditton is a village and civil parish in East Cambridgeshire, England. The other settlements in the parish are Ditton Green, Little Ditton and Saxon Street. At the time of the 2001 census, the parish's population (including Kirtling) was 1,789. In 2011, the population was recorded as 1,818.Woodditton lies at the southeastern end of the Devil's Dyke, a defensive earthwork thought to be of Anglo-Saxon origin. The Lord of the Manor of Woodditton in the later 16th century was Sir Robert Cotton, Knt., a younger son of the Lord of the Manor of Landwade, Cambridgshire.

Ashley is a village and civil parish in the East Cambridgeshire district of Cambridgeshire, England, about 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Newmarket. The modern village consists of the two ancient parishes of Ashley and Silverley. Ashley covers 2,250 acres (910 ha) and in the 2011 census had a population of 749. Ashley is in the electoral area of Cheveley ward.

Newmarket Town Football Club is a football club based in Newmarket, Suffolk, England. Affiliated to the Suffolk County FA, they are currently members of the Eastern Counties League Premier Division and play at Cricket Field Road.

Newmarket railway station (Suffolk) was opened by the Great Eastern Railway on 7 April 1902. It is on the Ipswich–Ely line and is 800 yards (730 m) south of the site of the original Newmarket station. Since March 2013, passenger services have been operated by Abellio Greater Anglia.

Bedford House Stables was the main training yard of Luca Cumani. After Cumani's retirement at the end of the 2018 flat racing season, the yard was purchased by trainer Charlie Fellowes.It is located next to the prestigious Bury Road in Newmarket, Suffolk, and became a British Listed building on 30 October 2006. The original construction dates to the 1820s and was built for Francis Russell, 7th Duke of Bedford. Upon his death, the property changed hands multiple times, eventually being bought by horse racing enthusiast James Octavius Machell. In 1892, the property was sold to Henry McCalmont.

Freemason Lodge Stables is the training yard of Sir Michael Stoute, ten-time British flat racing Champion Trainer.It is located next to the prestigious Bury Road in Newmarket, Suffolk.

Clarehaven Stables is a thoroughbred horse racing stable built next to the Bury Road in the horse racing town of Newmarket.It was built early in the 20th century and was bought by the businessman and philanthropist Sir David Robinson in the 1960s, after which it became the base for his successful racing operation. It is now a base to racehorse trainer John Gosden, a British flat racing Champion Trainer, who has trained Breeders' Cup Classic winner Raven's Pass, Derby and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Golden Horn, St. James's Palace Stakes winner Kingman, Dubai Sheema Classic winner Dar Re Mi, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Eclipse Stakes winner Nathaniel, Irish Oaks winner Great Heavens there, and many others.

Newmarket is a market town and civil parish in the West Suffolk district of Suffolk, England. Located (14 miles) west of Bury St Edmunds and (14 miles) northeast of Cambridge. It is considered the birthplace and global centre of thoroughbred horse racing. It is a major local business cluster, with annual investment rivalling that of the Cambridge Science Park, the other major cluster in the region. It is the largest racehorse training centre in Britain, the largest racehorse breeding centre in the country, home to most major British horseracing institutions, and a key global centre for horse health. Two Classic races, and an additional three British Champions Series races are held at Newmarket every year. The town has had close royal connections since the time of James I, who built a palace there, and was also a base for Charles I, Charles II, and most monarchs since. Elizabeth II visited the town often to see her horses in training. Newmarket has over fifty horse training stables, two large racetracks, the Rowley Mile and the July Course, and one of the most extensive and prestigious horse training grounds in the world. The town is home to over 3,500 racehorses, and it is estimated that one in every three local jobs is related to horse racing. Palace House, the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art, the National Horseracing Museum, Tattersalls racehorse auctioneers, and two of the world's foremost equine hospitals for horse health, are in the town, which is surrounded by over sixty horse breeding studs. On account of its leading position in the multibillion-pound horse racing and breeding industry, it is also a major export centre.
