Geilenkirchen station

Geilenkirchen (German pronunciation: [ˈɡaɪlənkɪʁçn̩] (listen), Ripuarian: Jellekerke [ˈjæləˌkæʀ˦(ə)kə]) is a town in the district Heinsberg, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated near the border with the Netherlands, on the river Wurm, approx. 15 km (9.3 mi) north-east of Heerlen and 20 km (12.4 mi) north of Aachen. It was the site of Operation Clipper in November 1944. The town gives its name to nearby NATO Air Base Geilenkirchen. The base is home to 17 E-3A airborne early warning and control aircraft manned by crews from 14 nations. On July 24, 2019 the highest temperature ever recorded in Germany was measured in Geilenkirchen at 40.5 °C (104.9 °F) during a heat wave that affected much of Europe. The record was broken the following day when temperature in Lingen reached 42.6 °C (108.7 °F).

Übach-Palenberg (Ripuarian: Übach-Pallebersch) is a town in the Heinsberg district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was formed by the merger of two villages, Palenberg and Übach.

Übach-Palenberg station is in Übach-Palenberg on the southern edge of Heinsberg in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is located on the Aachen–Mönchengladbach railway on the western outskirts of Palenberg near the Wurm and is served by the Wupper-Express and the Rhein-Niers-Bahn. Its current form reflects its reconstruction and modernisation in the 1990s and in 2008. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station.

Rimburg (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈrɪmbʏr(ə)x]) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located in the municipality of Landgraaf, on the German border. Rimburg was a separate municipality until 1887, when it was merged with Ubach over Worms.Rimburg is a village (consisting of the cores and Rimburg Broekhuizen) on the River Worm in eastern South Limburg. Rimburg is part of the municipality of Landgraaf. It is part of the former municipality Ubach over Worms. In the early 1980s the municipalities of Schaesberg, Ubach over Worms and Nieuwenhagen were collectively known as the SUN municipalities, until they merged to form the new municipality of Landgraaf.

Ubach over Worms (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈybɑx oːvər ˈʋɔr(ə)ms]) is a former municipality located in the southeast of the Netherlands, in the province of Limburg. In 1982 it was incorporated into the new municipality of Landgraaf along with Schaesberg and Nieuwenhagen. The German name for this part of Landgraaf is "Waubach". It is believed the latter name derives from Waldbach, which is German for "woodland creek", referring to the local Worm stream. This name is said to have later become corrupted to Waubach. Ubach over Worms as a municipality dates back to 1795. It contained the five hamlets; Groenstraat, Rimburg, Waubach, Lauradorp and Abdissenbosch. After the French occupation the Kingdom of the Netherlands was formed and the Overworms area was separated from the German town Übach. They then chose the name Ubach over Worms, which means Ubach over Worms River, as seen from the German Übach.

Alsdorf (German pronunciation: [ˈalsdɔʁf] (listen)) is a municipality in the district of Aachen, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Until the 21st century Alsdorf was a mining area, but now many service companies have established themselves in Alsdorf. Alsdorf has an indoor arena, a cinema, a mining museum and a zoo. One of Alsdorf's famous sights is the old Castle.

The Lindern–Heinsberg (Rheinl) railway, also called the Heinsberger Bahn (Heinsberg Railway) or Wurmtalbahn (Wurm Valley Railway) is a single-track branch line from Lindern on the Aachen–Mönchengladbach railway to Heinsberg in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It was opened in 1890.
