Ghatkopar (Pronunciation: [ɡʱaːʈkopəɾ]) is a suburb in eastern Mumbai. The area is served by the railway station on the Central Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway and the metro station on Line 1 of the Mumbai Metro.

Ghatkopar East Assembly constituency is one of the 26 Vidhan Sabha constituencies located in the Mumbai Suburban district. Ghatkopar East is part of the Mumbai North East Lok Sabha constituency along with five other Vidhan Sabha segments, namely Mulund, Ghatkopar West, Bhandup West, Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar and Vikhroli in the Mumbai Suburban district.

The Rajawadi Hospital (opened on 2 October 1958) is a municipal hospital located in the Rajawadi area of Ghatkopar, Mumbai, India. The hospital's official name is Seth V.C.Gandhi & M.A Vora Municipal General Hospital.

The K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering (KJSCE) was established in 1983 at Somaiya Vidyavihar, and affiliated with the Somaiya Vidyavihar University. It offers 4 year bachelor's degree courses in the departments of Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering. KJSCE is an autonomous college affiliated to the Somaiya Vidyavihar University spread across approx. 65 acres of posh land and stands among the top 3 engineering colleges in Mumbai. It is also one of the only 7 autonomous engineering colleges in Mumbai the others being VJTI, ICT, SP, KJSIEIT, DJ and Thakur.

The 1997 Ramabai killings were a mass killing of Dalit residents of the Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar colony in Mumbai on 11 July 1997. A team of State Reserve Police Force members fired upon a crowd protesting the recent desecration of a statue of Constitution maker B. R. Ambedkar. 10 Dalits were killed and 26 injured in the incident.The statue of Ambedkar was defaced with a garland of shoes which angered the Dalits. The Dalits took to the street and the police opened fire killing 10 Dalits. Police officer Manohar Kadam, who allegedly ordered the firing, was released on bail in 2009.

Amchi Shala is a Marathi medium school, founded by Shri. J. K. Karmalkar in Tilak Nagar, Chembur, Mumbai, in 1961.

Somaiya Vidyavihar University is a private university located in the Vidyavihar suburb of Mumbai, India. Established in 2019, it is the second-largest campus in Mumbai after IIT Bombay, covering an area of approximately 60 acres. Somaiya Vidyavihar University offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various fields, including arts and humanities, science and technology, engineering, teacher education, research, management, commerce and business studies, sports, religion and culture, and entrepreneurship. The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is first self-financed private university in Mumbai.

Ghatkopar is the elevated eastern terminal metro station on the East-West Corridor of the Blue Line 1 of Mumbai Metro serving the Ghatkopar suburb of Mumbai, India. It was opened to the public on 8 June 2014. Ghatkopar is the busiest station on Line 1, with a daily passenger traffic of 115,441 in December 2023.

The Deonar dumping ground is a waste dumping ground or landfill in the city of Mumbai. Located in Shivaji Nagar an eastern suburb of the city, it is India's oldest and largest dumping ground, set up in 1927. The dumping ground is managed by the city's civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (also known as Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai), which also manages two other dumping ground in the city; one in the neighbourhood of Mulund and one recently opened in Kanjurmarg. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on August 6 moved a proposal before the state environment department seeking environment clearance for its proposed waste-to-energy (WTE) plant at the Deonar dumping ground. The BMC’s proposal has been accepted by the state environment impact assessment authority (SEIAA) and is currently under examination by the state-level expert appraisal committee (EAC).

Vidyavihar is a small suburb of Mumbai. It has a railway station with the same name on the Mumbai suburban railway on the Central Railway line. The area consists of mainly the Somaiya Vidyavihar campus and a few residential buildings. Vidyavihar station has two platforms, which are generally crowded during college hours. Lokmanya Tilak Terminus falls very near to the station.

Chembur Station is a railway station in Chembur on the Harbour Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network. It lies near Chembur Market. It has one train in the morning starting from this station. It has two platforms which serves North and South bound railway line. The Chembur Monorail Station is connected with a skywalk to the Chembur Railway Station.

R City Mall is a shopping mall located in Ghatkopar West, Mumbai. The mall spreads across 1.2 million square feet with the capacity to house over 350 stores. The mall has over 194 shopping stores, over 66 food outlets, 10 entertainment areas, 3 ATM facilities, 13 service areas, and a Movie Theatre (INOX Leisure Limited). The mall was opened in two phases, the total size of the first phase of the development is 7.5 lakh square feet. It is a project developed by The Runwal Group.
