Spring Hill is an unincorporated community in Augusta County, Virginia, United States.The earliest inhabitant was the Irish sea captain James Patton, whose first home was a log cabin he built in 1741 at Spring Hill, on what is still known as the Patton Farm Road.: 17–18  On 25 October 1746, On 15 January 1754, Patton signed a contract with two Augusta County carpenters to construct a new home for him at Spring Hill: "a solidly-made a one-room log house, twenty feet square, to include...a wooden floor, high ceiling, and spacious loft.": 127 : 8 In 1882, Spring Hill was a thriving village with several stores and two churches. It, like other communities in Augusta County, flourished into the early 1900s. Today, all that is left is a Presbyterian church, some houses, and a few abandoned storefronts. It is part of the Staunton–Waynesboro Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Long Glade Farm, also known as Short Glade Farm and Springdale Farm, is a historic plantation house and farm located near Mount Solon, Augusta County, Virginia. The house was built in 1852, and a two-story, three-bay, "I-house" form brick dwelling in the Greek Revival style. It has an original rear ell. The front facade features a reconstructed front porch with Doric order columns and a balustrade. Also on the property are a contributing meat house, former slaves quarters, a corn crib, a bank barn, a pig house, and a family cemetery.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

Augusta County is a county in the Shenandoah Valley on the western edge of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. The second-largest county of Virginia by total area, it completely surrounds the independent cities of Staunton and Waynesboro. Its county seat is Staunton, but most of the administrative services have offices in neighboring Verona. The county was created in 1738 from part of Orange County and was named after Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha. It was originally a huge area, but many of its parts were carved out to form other counties and several states until the current borders were finalized in 1790. As of the 2020 census, the county's population was 77,487. Along with Staunton and Waynesboro, it forms the Staunton–Waynesboro, VA Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Hanger Mill, also known as Huff Mill, is a historic grist mill located at Churchville, Augusta County, Virginia. It was built about 1860, and is a 2 1/2-story, limestone and heavy mortise-and-tenon frame building with a metal gable roof and weatherboard siding. It has an attached one-story office structure. The mill operated until 1940, and retains most of its milling machinery.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Cobble Hill Farm is a 196-acre farm in Staunton, Virginia. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 2004. It is composed of three parcels: two tenant farms and the Cobble Hill parcel. The Cobble Hill house is a 2+1⁄2-story masonry house with a steep-gabled roof, with accents in the Tudor Revival and French Eclectic styles, with a formal garden and pool. It has a one-story, side-gabled porch, with a large, coursed-stone chimney near the entry porch. The roof surfaces are all finished with wood shingles. The building was designed in 1936 by Sam Collins, and built in 1937 for William Ewing's widow.One of the tenant farms lies across the street and is accessed from Woodlee Rd., and contains a frame, two-story, three-bay, center hall plan vernacular farmhouse, plus several outbuildings, with 46 acres of land. The second tenant farm consists of a frame, side-gabled, three-bay, 2+1⁄2-story I house with an ell addition, and sits on 63 acres of farm land. Cobble Hill Farm has several contributing sites and structures, including a garden, pool, shed complex, dairy and feed barns, a summerhouse, a tower, and the buildings of the tenant parcels. It is still a functional farm, producing sheep and hay. Its area of historical significance is in architecture and engineering.

North River High School was a historic public school building located at Moscow, Augusta County, Virginia. Built in 1930, it was a brick building consisting of an auditorium/gymnasium as the core of the building with rectangular gabled blocks on either side containing two rooms with the projecting gable ends. It had a steeply pitched gable roof and entrance portico reflecting the Colonial Revival style. Additions were made to the building in 1942 and 1950. Also on the property was a contributing brick agriculture building.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Moscow is an unincorporated community in Augusta County, Virginia, United States, located on State Route 42 about 8 miles (13 km) south of Bridgewater. With only a few residents, it consists of a Brethren church, an elementary school, a cabinet shop, a few houses, and a small store. This is mostly a business area for the Mount Solon area. North River High School was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. The name was also taken from the Russian city.

Churchville is a census-designated place (CDP) in the western part of Augusta County, Virginia, United States. The population as of the 2010 Census was 194. Churchville is part of the Staunton–Waynesboro Micropolitan Statistical Area. An 1855 gazetteer described the village as a stagecoach stop that contained "2 churches, 2 stores, and 2 schools." Churchville was a famous town during the time of the Civil War. W. Taylor Reveley III, 27th President of the College of William and Mary was born in Churchville. Churchville is a tree-lined community that is home to several churches (currently 4), the Churchville Public Library, part of the Augusta County Library Branch, and Churchville Elementary School (Grades K-5). Hanger Mill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Waverly Hill is a historic mansion located at Staunton, Virginia. It was designed by architect William Lawrence Bottomley (1883–1951) and built in 1929. It consists of a 2 1/2–story, five-bay, center section flanked by one-story wings connected by low, one-story hyphens in the Georgian Revival style. The house is constructed of brick, and the central section and wings are topped by slate-covered hipped roofs.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Staunton High School is a public high school in Staunton, Virginia, United States. It is a part of Staunton City Schools, a public school district that also includes three elementary schools, a middle school, and an alternative education program.

Staunton ( STAN-tən) is an independent city in the U.S. Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 25,750. In Virginia, independent cities are separate jurisdictions from the counties that surround them, so the government offices of Augusta County are in Verona, which is contiguous to Staunton. Staunton is a principal city of the Staunton-Waynesboro Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had a 2010 population of 118,502. Staunton is known for being the birthplace of Woodrow Wilson, the 28th U.S. president, and as the home of Mary Baldwin University, historically a women's college. The city is also home to Stuart Hall, a private co-ed preparatory school, as well as the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind. It was the first city in the United States with a fully defined city manager system.

Steephill, also known as Steep Hill, is a historic home built in c. 1878 and located at Staunton, Virginia. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It also went by the name Peyton Estate, it had been the family home for John Lewis Peyton and his heirs until 1964.
