Staunton High School is a public high school in Staunton, Virginia, United States. It is a part of Staunton City Schools, a public school district that also includes three elementary schools, a middle school, and an alternative education program.

Staunton ( STAN-tən) is an independent city in the U.S. Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 25,750. In Virginia, independent cities are separate jurisdictions from the counties that surround them, so the government offices of Augusta County are in Verona, which is contiguous to Staunton. Staunton is a principal city of the Staunton-Waynesboro Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had a 2010 population of 118,502. Staunton is known for being the birthplace of Woodrow Wilson, the 28th U.S. president, and as the home of Mary Baldwin University, historically a women's college. The city is also home to Stuart Hall, a private co-ed preparatory school, as well as the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind. It was the first city in the United States with a fully defined city manager system.

Mary Baldwin University (MBU, formerly Mary Baldwin College) is a private university in Staunton, Virginia. It was founded in 1842 as Augusta Female Seminary. Today, Mary Baldwin University is home to the Mary Baldwin College for Women, a residential women's college with a focus on liberal arts and leadership, as well as co-educational residential undergraduate programs within its University College structure. MBU also offers co-educational graduate degrees as well as undergraduate degree and certificate programs for non-traditional-aged students. The university is the oldest institution of higher education for women in the nation affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA), and it is home to the only all-female corps of cadets in the world.

Temple House of Israel is a Reform Jewish congregation and synagogue located at 15 North Market Street, in Staunton, Virginia, in the United States. Founded in 1876 by Major Alexander Hart, it originally held services in members' homes, then moved to a building on Kalorama street in 1885, the year it joined the Union for Reform Judaism.In 1925 the congregation constructed its current building at 115 North Market Street, a contributing property to the Gospel Hill historic district. The Moorish Revival structure was designed by Sam Collins of T.J. Collins and son, and includes Mercer tiles, and windows and a glass screen by Charles Connick of Boston.As of 2019, Rabbi Randi Nagel served Temple House of Israel as rabbi.

Staunton Military Academy was a private all-male military school located in Staunton, Virginia. Founded in 1884, the academy closed in 1976. The school was highly regarded for its academic and military programs, and many notable American political and military leaders are graduates, including Sen. Barry Goldwater, the 1964 Republican presidential candidate, and his son, Rep. Barry Goldwater Jr., 1960's folk singer Phil Ochs, Ramones guitarist Johnny Ramone and John Dean, a White House Counsel who was a central figure in the Watergate scandal of the early 1970s. A museum dedicated to the school's history is located on its former campus, now part of Mary Baldwin University. Throughout its history, the academy was referred to by students, faculty, and Staunton residents simply by its initials, SMA.

The Kable House is an Italianate building from 1873 on the Mary Baldwin University campus. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 19, 1979. It is a two-story, five-bay brick house on a raised basement. Construction started in 1873, and was completed in 1874, for John W. Alby. In 1884, Captain William Hartman Kable purchased the house and opened the Staunton Male Academy (which was renamed again in 1886 to Staunton Military Academy, at the same location) in the building.The house was remodeled in 1917 by T.J. Collins architectural firm, and added indoor plumbing and a kitchen, as well as some modifications to the exterior. Staunton Military Academy continued to operate until 1976, at which time the building was purchased by Mary Baldwin College.

The Valley Hotel is a historic building that was constructed in Staunton, Virginia built around 1815.The Valley Hotel is located on Augusta Street across the street from a Baptist church (shown in picture). After it was a hotel, the building became a center for the African-American community. As of 2007, it housed a clock shop.

Stuart Addition Historic District is a national historic district located at Staunton, Virginia. The district encompasses 93 contributing buildings in a primarily residential section of Staunton. The district includes some early 19th-century structures, but most of the homes were built after 1870. The medium-density residential area includes notable examples of the Colonial Revival, Italianate, and Gothic Revival styles. Notable buildings include the Blakely or Templeton House (c. 1865, 1917), Steele House (1928), Kivlighan House (1910), Arlington Flats (c. 1890, c. 1905), D. Webster Davis School (1915), St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (1895), Augusta Street Methodist Church (1876, 1911), Ebenezer Baptist Church (1910), and Mt. Zion Baptist Church (1904). Located in the district is the separately listed C. W. Miller House.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Rose Terrace building is a historic building on the Mary Baldwin University campus in Staunton, Virginia. It was built about 1875, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, three-bay, L-shaped, brick Italianate style building. It has a hipped roof and six handsome, tall chimneys with elaborately corbelled caps. Also on the property is a contributing small two-story outbuilding known as "Little House."Rose Terrace was originally a single family residence, then housed Augusta Sanitarium from 1910 to 1919. The building was purchased by Mary Baldwin College in 1919. It was once used as the college president's home, and also served as a student dormitory. The building currently houses the offices of the Shakespeare & Performance graduate program. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1979.

J. C. M. Merrillat House, also known as Hunter House, is a historic house located at Staunton, Virginia. It was built in 1851, and is a two-story, five-bay, Gothic Revival style frame cottage with a two-story wing. It has board-and-batten siding and a gable roof interrupted by a large central gable with a finial. The front facade features a one-story porch supported by large brackets. It was built by Dr. J. C. M. Merrillat, a prominent early administrator at the nearby Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It is located in the Gospel Hill Historic District.

Oakdene is a historic home located at Staunton, Virginia. It was built in 1893, and is a large 2+1⁄2-story, Queen Anne style frame dwelling with an irregular plan. It has a great variety of textures and materials, and features a carved entrance porch, a central turret with a chimney up the middle two sun porches, several tall chimneys with elaborately corbelled caps and decorative brickwork, and a turret with a conical roof. The main roof is of slate and is composed of both hipped and gabled elements. Oakdene was built for Edward Echols, who served as lieutenant governor of Virginia from 1898 to 1902 and was president of the local National Valley Bank. His father General John Echols died at Oakdene in 1896. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It is located in the Gospel Hill Historic District.

Gospel Hill Historic District is a national historic district located at Staunton, Virginia. The district encompasses 180 contributing buildings in a primarily residential section of Staunton. The district is characterized by an abundance of fine homes, ranging in size from cottages to mansions and dating from 1840 to 1930. The buildings include distinguished examples of a century of architectural styles from Greek Revival to Bungalow. Notable buildings include "Kalorama" (c. 1800), "Capote" (1905), Effinger House (c. 1898), and Temple House of Israel (1925). Located in the district are the separately listed Woodrow Wilson Birthplace, Catlett House, Arista Hoge House, J. C. M. Merrillat House, Thomas J. Michie House, Oakdene, and The Oaks.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
