Burlington Downtown Historic District

Burlington is a city in Racine and Walworth counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, with the majority of the city located in Racine County. The population of the city was 11,047 as of the 2020 census.

The Kane Street Historic District is a residential historic district in central Burlington, Wisconsin. The district includes 158 buildings, 137 of which are considered contributing buildings to its historic character, and a statue of Abraham Lincoln. Development in the district began in the 1840s shortly after Burlington was settled and continued through the mid-twentieth century, though construction peaked in the decades after the Wisconsin Central Railroad opened a station in Burlington in 1884. Many of the homes in the district belonged to Burlington's most influential residents, including merchant Ephraim Perkins, the Meinhardt banking family, and Louis H. Rohr, owner of the Wisconsin Condensed Milk Company. The district includes examples of most of the popular American architectural styles of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Its earliest homes have Greek Revival, Italianate, and gabled ell vernacular designs. The Queen Anne style was popular during the district's building boom, and 54 of its houses utilize the style. Early twentieth century styles are also well-represented in the district, including American Foursquare, bungalow, Colonial Revival, Dutch Colonial, and Tudor Revival. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 25, 2014. The 1882 Meinhardt House, a large Queen Anne home in the district, burned down in November 2024.

The White River is a freshwater tributary located in the counties of Racine and Walworth, Wisconsin, that flows for 19 miles out of Geneva Lake in Lake Geneva to the Fox River in Burlington. The river flows through the 200-acre White River Park, which is managed by the Geneva Lake Conservancy and Walworth County Park System. The remains of a dam from the 19th century are visible on Sheridan Springs Road where it crosses the river entering Lyons, Wisconsin from the west. This formed a mill pond that is still shown on maps today even though it was drained several decades ago.The White River is a destination for kayakers and canoers as it offers a range of ripples with a sand and pebble bottom and clear water. There is a section with class II rapids emptying into a relatively large, deep pool that is popular with paddlers looking to cool off in the hot summer months. The river is best in the spring when water levels are higher as these levels decrease into the late summer months unless rainfall is high. Paddlers choosing to finish the river will enter into Echo Lake in Burlington.

Catholic Central High School in Burlington, Wisconsin, United States, is a private, Catholic, co-educational high school in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Founded in 1920, it offers both college-prep and general studies for grades 9 through 12.

Burlington Community Swimming Pools and Bathhouse in Burlington, Wisconsin, is a historic property that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 23, 2013.The property, located at 394 Amanda Street, consists of a swimming pool and bathhouse that were privately built in 1965. It was listed on the National Register as an "excellent example of contemporary style architecture," including the use of prestressed and precast concrete structural members manufactured in the local area. It was designed by Carl Iverson.

The census-designated places of Bohners Lake, and Browns Lake are located within the town. The unincorporated community of Cedar Park is also located in the town.

Burlington High School is a public high school in Burlington, Wisconsin. It is administered by the Burlington Area School District. The school's mascot is the Demon and its colors are orange and black. Its fight song borrows the melody of the traditional Navy song Anchor's Aweigh.

Burlington Municipal Airport (ICAO: KBUU, FAA LID: BUU) is a public use airport located 1 mile (1.6 km) northwest of the central business district of Burlington, a city in Racine County, Wisconsin, United States.It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2021–2025, in which it is categorized as a local general aviation facility.Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned BUU by the FAA but has no designation from IATA. The airport does not have scheduled airline service. The closest airport with scheduled airline service is Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport, about 27 miles (43 km) to the northeast.

Browns Lake is a census-designated place (CDP) in Racine County, Wisconsin around a lake of the same name. The population was 1,879 at the 2020 census. It is politically a part of the town of Burlington, along with Bohners Lake.

Honey Lake (also Vienna) is an unincorporated community located in Racine and Walworth Counties, Wisconsin, United States.The Walworth County portion is located within the town of Spring Prairie, and the Racine County portion is part of the village of Rochester.

Rochester is a village in Racine County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,785 at the 2020 census. The village is located within the former Town of Rochester. On November 4, 2008, the village of Rochester voted to consolidate with the Town of Rochester.
