The "Body in the Cylinder" refers to a male decedent discovered within a partially sealed steel cylinder on a derelict WWII bomb site in Liverpool, England. The discovery was made in 1945 and it is believed that the body had lain undiscovered for 60 years. Inquiries named a strong (but unconfirmed) candidate for the identity of the decedent; however, the cause of death and the reason for his presence in the cylinder remain a mystery.

Kirkdale railway station is a railway station in Kirkdale, Liverpool, England, located to the north of the city centre on the Northern Line of the Merseyrail network. It acts as the interchange between the branches to Kirkby and Ormskirk; these lines diverge just north of the station. Kirkdale TMD train maintenance depot, the largest depot on the Merseyrail Network, is located adjacent to the station.

Kirkdale TMD is a traction maintenance depot located beside Kirkdale railway station in north Liverpool, England. The depot is the largest on the Merseyrail network; it is located on the Northern Line and is used primarily for stabling units, heavy maintenance and cleaning units both internally and externally.Operation of Kirkdale depot was transferred from Merseyrail to Stadler Rail Service UK in October 2017. The depot is Stadler Rail's United Kingdom headquarters and the majority of the company's UK workforce will be based at this site. At Kirkdale, Stadler Rail will also be responsible for their maintenance setup and staff at the Norwich Crown Point maintenance depot, Glasgow Subway and the future Tyne and Wear Metro maintenance and staff. The site was extended and uprated. Work finished on an extensive re-build in November 2019, allowing the depot to become the main maintenance hub for the new Class 777 fleet.Although Kirkdale is the largest Merseyrail depot, most heavy maintenance is currently carried out at Birkenhead North TMD. This will be reversed once the new Class 777 fleet is fully introduced.

Bank Hall railway station is a railway station in Kirkdale, Liverpool, England, located to the north of the city centre, on the Northern Line of the Merseyrail network. As the area around the station is made up of largely closed industrial buildings, the station is one of the quietest on the Northern Line.

St George's Church is in Everton, Liverpool, Merseyside, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is the earliest of three churches in Liverpool built by John Cragg, who used many components in cast iron which were made at his Mersey Iron Foundry. It is an active Anglican parish church in the Diocese of Liverpool, the Liverpool archdeaconry, and the Liverpool North deanery.

Everton Library is a disused library building in Everton Brow, Liverpool. Designed by architect and Liverpool City Surveyor Thomas Shelmerdine and constructed in 1896, it remained in use as a library until 1999. It was used by community groups for a few years but since 2018 it has been derelict for 12 years. There are plans in progress to convert the building for use as an arts, culture, heritage and enterprise centre. In September 2019, it was named on the Victorian Society's list of the top ten most endangered buildings in England and Wales.

The Throstles Nest Hotel is a pub with guesthouse on Scotland Road in Vauxhall, Liverpool, adjacent to St Anthony's Church. Opened in 1804, the Throstles Nest is the last remaining pub of more than 200 on Scotland Road, formerly the main artery of a crowded tenement area with a heavily Irish population. The guesthouse above the pub was listed as one of Liverpool's ten best hotels in 2014. The business was put up for sale in September 2022.
