Hild Bede Boat Club

The College of St Hild and St Bede, commonly known as Hild Bede, is a college of Durham University in England. It is the university's second largest collegiate body, with over 1000 students. The co-educational college was formed in 1975 following the merger of two much older single-sex institutions, the College of the Venerable Bede for men and St Hild's College for women. Hild Bede is neither a Bailey nor a Hill college, and is situated on the banks of the River Wear between Durham's 'peninsula' and Gilesgate.

The Racecourse is part of Durham University's sports facilities. It contains squash, tennis and fives courts, cricket, rugby, hockey, and football pitches and rowing houses. It is located along the River Wear and has been used as a sports ground since at least 1733. As well as use by Durham University, the Racecourse is known for hosting two annual events, the Durham Regatta and Durham Miners' Gala. Its cricket ground is used for first class cricket and is the home of Durham MCC University (previously Durham University Centre of Cricketing Excellence).

St Cuthbert's Society Boat Club (SCSBC) is the rowing club of St Cuthbert's Society at Durham University. Founded in the summer of 1893 with the aim of representing St Cuthbert's Society at collegiate level, it is one of the oldest and most distinguished of Durham's collegiate clubs.

Collingwood College Boat Club (CCBC) is the rowing club of Collingwood College, part of Durham University. CCBC was formed in 1981 and is housed in the Collingwood College boathouse on the River Wear. The club is often coached by former College Principal and Durham University Boat Club coach Professor Gerald Blake.

Durham (Gilesgate) railway station (when in passenger use known simply as Durham and later also as Durham Goods) served the Gilesgate area of Durham City in County Durham, North East England from 1844 to 1857 as the terminus of the Newcastle & Darlington Junction Railway Durham Branch passenger service (later to be incorporated into the Leamside line). Its life as a passenger station was short and it was quickly converted to goods station, a role which it played for more than a century.

The Durham–Sunderland line was a railway line in the North East of England. The line no longer exists, but many features along its path are still visible.

Kepier is a location in the city of Durham, England in the parish of Belmont, close to Gilesgate and beside the River Wear. It is site of the medieval Hospital of St Giles at Kepier. The name derives from 'Kipe weir', meaning a weir with a fish trap and the convenience of being close to a source of fish (a major part of the monastic diet) may have influenced the location of the hospital. Kepier was also the site of a medieval corn mill which continued in use until its destruction by fire on September 24, 1870 caused by a spark from the grinding of the stone millwheels. The mill was never rebuilt; only a stone arch over the remnant of the mill race remains. Kepier may also have been the site of a Roman crossing of the River Wear carrying a postulated Roman road, Cade's Road, which led north to Pons Aelius.The Kepier estate previously extended over much of Gilesgate, Gilesgate Moor and Carrville. In the 1940s, plans for Kepier power station were drafted, but the project was never undertaken.

Durham Crown Court is a Crown Court venue which deals with criminal cases at Old Elvet, Durham, England. Located immediately to the north of Durham Prison, it is a Grade II* listed building.

HM Prison Durham is a Georgian era reception Category B men's prison, located in the Elvet area of Durham in County Durham, England. Built in 1819, the prison continues to be operated by Her Majesty's Prison Service. Women prisoners were moved in 2005 due to overcrowding and suicides.

St Cuthbert's Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Durham, England. It was opened on 31 May 1827 to replace two previous chapels, one run by the secular clergy and the other by the Jesuits. It is also the home of the Durham University Catholic Chaplaincy and Catholic Society. From 2012 to 2016 the parish was entrusted, along with the chaplaincy, to the Dominican Order, and its congregation has since maintained the Dominicans' influence. The church is a protected building, being part of the Elvet Green Conservation Area. It is named for St Cuthbert of Lindisfarne, the 7th century bishop, healer and patron of Northern England.

The Old Shire Hall is a former municipal building in Old Elvet, Durham. The building, which was the headquarters of Durham County Council from 1898 to 1963, is a Grade II listed building.

Green Lane is a cricket ground in Durham, County Durham. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1866, when Durham City played the Northumberland Club. Durham first played at the ground in the 1899 Minor Counties Championship against Norfolk. Durham next used the ground in the 1904 Minor Counties Championship against Northamptonshire. The ground would next be used for Minor Counties cricket in 1975, when Durham returned to play at the ground, before playing their final Minor Counties Championship match there in 1984 against Bedfordshire. In 1988, Durham returned to the ground to play an MCCA Knockout Trophy match against Northumberland. The following season Durham played their final match on the ground in the MCCA Knockout Trophy against Cumberland.The ground has also held a single List-A match in the 1979 Gillette Cup, which saw Durham play Berkshire. Following Durham's elevation to first-class cricket, the Durham Second XI have played a number of matches at the ground.
