Kepier

The College of St Hild and St Bede, commonly known as Hild Bede, is a college of Durham University in England. It is the university's second largest collegiate body, with over 1000 students. The co-educational college was formed in 1975 following the merger of two much older single-sex institutions, the College of the Venerable Bede for men and St Hild's College for women. Hild Bede is neither a Bailey nor a Hill college, and is situated on the banks of the River Wear between Durham's 'peninsula' and Gilesgate.

Durham (Gilesgate) railway station (when in passenger use known simply as Durham and later also as Durham Goods) served the Gilesgate area of Durham City in County Durham, North East England from 1844 to 1857 as the terminus of the Newcastle & Darlington Junction Railway Durham Branch passenger service (later to be incorporated into the Leamside line). Its life as a passenger station was short and it was quickly converted to goods station, a role which it played for more than a century.

St Cuthbert's Society Boat Club (SCSBC) is the rowing club of St Cuthbert's Society at Durham University. Founded in the summer of 1893 with the aim of representing St Cuthbert's Society at collegiate level, it is one of the oldest and most distinguished of Durham's collegiate clubs.

Kepier Hospital (properly the Hospital of St Giles of Kepier) was a medieval hospital at Kepier, Durham, England.

The Racecourse is part of Durham University's sports facilities. It contains squash, tennis and fives courts, cricket, rugby, hockey, and football pitches and rowing houses. It is located along the River Wear and has been used as a sports ground since at least 1733. As well as use by Durham University, the Racecourse is known for hosting two annual events, the Durham Regatta and Durham Miners' Gala. Its cricket ground is used for first class cricket and is the home of Durham MCC University (previously Durham University Centre of Cricketing Excellence).

Collingwood College Boat Club (CCBC) is the rowing club of Collingwood College, part of Durham University. CCBC was formed in 1981 and is housed in the Collingwood College boathouse on the River Wear. The club is often coached by former College Principal and Durham University Boat Club coach Professor Gerald Blake.

St. Giles Church is a grade I listed parish church in Gilesgate, Durham, England. The church was constructed as the hospital chapel of the Hospital of St Giles and was dedicated in on St Barbara's Day, June 1112 by Bishop Flambard to "the honour of God and St Giles". The church became caught up in an 1140 dispute over the bishopric of Durham following the usurpation of the diocese by William Cumin, Chancellor of King David I of Scotland. William of St. Barbara, the rightly elected Bishop, was forced to retreat to, and fortify, the church after his abortive entry into Durham was beaten back by Cumin's men. In response Cumin's men destroyed the hospital, which was later refounded at nearby Kepier. Bishop Puiset later extended the church to reflect its role at the centre of a growing parish, and the current font is believed to date from this time. The church was appropriated to Kepier Hospital which acted as rector, receiving tithes and with the advowson (right to appoint a vicar), appointing a parochial chaplain to minister to the needs of the parish. John Heath, the Elizabethan owner of the Kepier estates, Gilesgate and Old Durham is buried in the church. The ecclesiastical parish of St Giles was divided in 1852 with the creation of a new Belmont parish, served from church of St Mary Magdalene, Belmont and covering Belmont, Gilesgate Moor and New Durham. St Giles Church retains some of Flambard's original building (primarily the north wall) and most of Puiset's additions. Minor restoration and three large windows inserted into the south wall in 1828. The church was restored and extended in 1873-1876 as the parish continued to grow. The Revd Canon Dr Alan B. Bartlett is the current vicar of St Giles since Summer 2008.

St Cuthbert's Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Durham, England. It was opened on 31 May 1827 to replace two previous chapels, one run by the secular clergy and the other by the Jesuits. It is also the home of the Durham University Catholic Chaplaincy and Catholic Society. From 2012 to 2016 the parish was entrusted, along with the chaplaincy, to the Dominican Order, and its congregation has since maintained the Dominicans' influence. The church is a protected building, being part of the Elvet Green Conservation Area. It is named for St Cuthbert of Lindisfarne, the 7th century bishop, healer and patron of Northern England.

Durham Crown Court is a Crown Court venue which deals with criminal cases at Old Elvet, Durham, England. Located immediately to the north of Durham Prison, it is a Grade II* listed building.

The Old Shire Hall is a former municipal building in Old Elvet, Durham. The building, which was the headquarters of Durham County Council from 1898 to 1963, is a Grade II listed building.

HM Prison Durham is a Georgian era reception Category B men's prison, located in the Elvet area of Durham in County Durham, England. Built in 1819, the prison continues to be operated by Her Majesty's Prison Service. Women prisoners were moved in 2005 due to overcrowding and suicides.

The Durham–Sunderland line was a railway line in the North East of England. The line no longer exists, but many features along its path are still visible.
