Salford Royal Hospital (formerly known as Hope Hospital) is a large university teaching hospital in Pendleton, Salford, England operated by Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. It is one of the top-performing hospitals in the United Kingdom.

The 1984 Eccles rail crash occurred on 4 December 1984 at Eccles, Greater Manchester, when an express passenger train collided at speed with the rear of a freight train of oil tankers. The driver of the express and two passengers were killed, and 68 people were injured. The cause of the accident was determined to be that the driver of the express train had passed a signal at danger.

Ladywell is a tram stop on the Eccles Line of Greater Manchester's light rail Metrolink system. It is located in the Ladywell area of the City of Salford, in North West England, and opened on 12 June 1999 as part of Phase 2 of the system's expansion. Ladywell has a Park and Ride car park for Metrolink customer which is a few minutes' walk from the end of the platforms. The tram stop itself is named after the nearby roundabout, Ladywell roundabout, under which the tram lines are tunnelled.

Trafford power station supplied electricity to the Trafford and Stretford areas of Greater Manchester, and to the national grid, from 1929 to 1976. The generating station was built by the Stretford and District Electricity Board which it operated until the nationalisation of the British electricity supply industry in 1948. The 60 megawatt coal-fired station was supplemented in 1952 with an experimental 15 megawatt gas turbine generating set.

It is composed of a bus station, and a single-platform Metrolink light rail station, the latter of which is the terminus of the system's Eccles Line. It opened on 21 July 2000. It is roughly 310 metres (340 yd) away from Eccles railway station.

Ellesmere Park High School is a coeducational secondary school located in the Ellesmere Park area of Eccles, Greater Manchester, England.Ellesmere Park High School has undergone several changes over the years. Essentially the school site that we now know as Ellesmere Park High School, on Wentworth Road, was originally built as a county secondary school and was officially opened in 1957 as Ellesmere County Secondary School. Later, its name was changed to Ellesmere Park Secondary Modern School as the school leaving age was extended.
