Blood Hill is a wind farm near Hemsby in Norfolk, England. It is the smallest windfarm owned by E.ON; taking up 3 hectares. It has a nameplate capacity of 2.25MW which is enough to power 1000 homes at peak. There were 10 Vestas V27-225 kW turbines which were 30 metres tall and stand on top of Blood Hill. They are visible from the villages of Hemsby and Winterton-on-Sea. Blood Hill began operating in December 1992 and was one of the first windfarms in the United Kingdom. In 2000 a much larger 65m 1.5MW Ecotricity turbine was built adjacent to the site.In 2015 a repowering of the site saw the original 10 turbines replaced with 2 two Turbowind T400 wind turbines.

Martham Broad is a 60-hectare (150-acre) national nature reserve north of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk. It is managed by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, and is part of the Upper Thurne Broads and Marshes Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is also part of the Broadland Ramsar site and Special Protection Area, and The Broads Special Area of Conservation.This reserve is composed of two shallow broads divided by the River Thurne, together with fen, reedbeds and marshes. There are a number of bat species and breeding birds include bearded tits, common terns, Cetti's warblers and marsh harriers.There is public access to the site.

Winterton-on-Sea is a village and civil parish on the North Sea coast of the English county of Norfolk. It is 8 miles (13 km) north of Great Yarmouth and 19 miles (31 km) east of Norwich.The civil parish has an area of 2.2 square miles (5.7 km2) and at the 2001 census had a population of 1,359 in 589 households. Winterton-on-Sea borders the villages of Hemsby, Horsey and Somerton. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of Great Yarmouth. Between the village and the North Sea are Winterton Dunes which include a 109 hectares (270 acres) National Nature Reserve and are inhabited by several notable species such as the natterjack toad. Winterton and neighbouring beach, Horsey, are major wildlife sites, even over the winter. During the months of November to January, a colony of Atlantic Grey Seals heads on to the beach to give birth to seal pups. This has been described as "one of Britain’s greatest wildlife spectacles" and attracts tourists from all over the country.

Winterton-Horsey Dunes is a 427-hectare (1,060-acre) biological and geological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk. It is a Special Area of Conservation and a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade I. Winterton Dunes is a National Nature Reserve Winterton Ness is a Geological Conservation Review site. The whole site is in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This site has extensive dunes together with areas of grazing marsh and birch woodland. Invertebrates include a rare amphibian and a rare butterfly. The site is geologically important as it displays the processes which control dynamic dune development.The beach is open to the public.

The Broads (known for marketing purposes as The Broads National Park) is a network of mostly navigable rivers and lakes in the English counties of Norfolk and Suffolk. Although the terms "Norfolk Broads" and "Suffolk Broads" are correctly used to identify specific areas within the two counties respectively, the whole area is frequently referred to as the Norfolk Broads. The lakes, known as broads, were formed by the flooding of peat workings. The Broads, and some surrounding land, were constituted as a special area with a level of protection similar to a national park by the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads Act 1988. The Broads Authority, a special statutory authority responsible for managing the area, became operational in 1989.The area is 303 square kilometres (117 sq mi), most of which is in Norfolk, with over 200 kilometres (120 mi) of navigable waterways. There are seven rivers and 63 broads, mostly less than 4 metres (13 ft) deep. Thirteen broads are generally open to navigation, with a further three having navigable channels. Some broads have navigation restrictions imposed on them in autumn and winter, although the legality of the restrictions is questionable.The Broads has similar status to the national parks in England and Wales; the Broads Authority has powers and duties akin to the National Parks but is also the third-largest inland navigation authority. Because of its navigation role the Broads Authority was established under its own legislation on 1 April 1989. The Broads Authority Act 2009, which was promoted through Parliament by the authority, is intended to improve public safety on the water.

Hall Farm Fen, Hemsby is a 9.2-hectare (23-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest west of Hemsby in Norfolk. It is part of the Broadland Ramsar site and Special Protection Area, and The Broads Special Area of Conservation.This area of unimproved fen grassland and dykes is grazed by horses and cattle. It has diverse flora, including many orchids. The dykes have well developed aquatic plants and a rich variety of invertebrates, including the nationally rare freshwater snail Segmentina nitida.There is public access from a footpath through the site.

Winterton Ness is an area of foreland on the North Norfolk coast of England. Winterton Ness is located to the north of the village of Winterton-on-Sea between grid reference TG489216 in the north to TG506181 to its south. Technically it is a narrow cuspate foreland with a high obtuse angle between its two shorelines. A number of studies appear inconclusive as to the nature of erosion or, conversely, accretion of sediment in the area. The area was described by Daniel Defoe during the first of his trips for his account A Tour thro' the Whole Island of Great Britain.

Winterton Dunes is an extensive dune system on the east coast of Norfolk, England, which has been designated as a National Nature Reserve of 109 ha. Winterton Dunes is within the Norfolk Coast AONB. The site is unusual in that it shows greater ecological similarities to the dune systems of the Baltic - which support acidic plant communities - rather than the dunes on the North Norfolk Coast - where the sand is calcareous. The site supports well developed areas of dune heath, wet 'slacks' between dunes and dune grassland which grades into grazing marsh and birch woodland.

Martham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is situated some 15 km (9.3 mi) north-west of the town of Great Yarmouth and 30 km (19 mi) north-east of the city of Norwich.The villages name means 'marten homestead/village' or 'weasel/marten hemmed-in land'. The civil parish has an area of 11.84 km2 (4.57 sq mi) and in the 2001 census had a population of 3,126 in 1,267 households, the population including Cess and increasing at the 2011 Census to 3,569. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of Great Yarmouth. In recent years the population has expanded with considerable housing being constructed. Bus service to Great Yarmouth is regular. There was a station in the village adjacent to a level crossing on Rollesby Road Martham railway station, but this closed in 1959, when the entire line from Great Yarmouth to North Walsham was eliminated. The station buildings stood for another 30 years. Education is available in the village from Early Years to aged 16. Martham Primary & Nursery caters for children up to year 6, with Flegg High School taking students from year 7 to year 11. Post 16 education is available at other establishments outside of Martham. The village has several Georgian houses, a large village green, covering three areas of greensward and two duck ponds. Near St Mary's church Church of England, Ferrygate Lane leads to Martham Ferry, where an unusual floating swing bridge crosses the River Thurne. The bridge leads to Heigham Holmes, an island nature reserve, which can only be accessed by the public on special occasions. About 2 km (1.2 mi) to the north of the village is Martham Broad, a 140 acres (57 ha) nature reserve, which is not navigable by boat.The Saxons settled in Martham around AD601 and gave the village its name, "the ham of the martens", the home of the polecats.The Anglican missionary Anna Hinderer died in the village in 1870.

Horsey Windpump is a windpump or drainage windmill in the care of the National Trust in the village of Horsey, on The Broads near Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. The structure is a grade II* listed building.

Winterton Lighthouse is located in Winterton-on-Sea in the English county of Norfolk. In 1845 Winterton Ness was described as being 'well known to the mariner as the most fatal headland between Scotland and London'. As well as marking the headland, the lighthouse was intended to help guide vessels into the Cockle Gat, which provided the northern entry into the safe water of Yarmouth Roads. The lighthouse was known to Daniel Defoe and is mentioned in his novel Robinson Crusoe.A lighthouse is known to have stood in this location since the early 17th century; it was initially lit by a coal-burning brazier. Since then it has been rebuilt on a number of occasions. For well over a century there were three smaller lighthouses in the immediate vicinity in addition to the main 'fire light', all of which were concurrently operational. The present lighthouse dates from the mid-1860s; it was decommissioned in 1921.
