Frankenstein Castle, Palatinate

Frankenstein is a municipality in the district of Kaiserslautern, in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany. On a hill towering over the village is Frankenstein Castle. Frankenstein (Pfalz) station is located on the Mannheim–Saarbrücken railway.

Frankenstein (Pfalz) station is the station of the town of Frankenstein in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Deutsche Bahn classifies it as a category 6 station and it has two platforms. It is located on the Mannheim–Saarbrücken railway, which essentially consists of the Palatine Ludwig Railway (Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn, Ludwigshafen–Bexbach). It was opened on 2 December 1848 with the Kaiserslautern–Frankenstein section of the Ludwig Railway. On 25 August of the following year, the gap to Neustadt was closed, so that the Ludwig Railway had reached its full length. Since December 2003 it has been a stop for services on line S1 and S2 of the Rhine-Neckar S-Bahn. Its entrance building is a protected monument.

Weidenthal is an Ortsgemeinde – a municipality belonging to a Verbandsgemeinde, a kind of collective municipality – in the Bad Dürkheim district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

Diemerstein Forest (German: Diemersteiner Wald) is a part of the Palatine Forest, a mountainous region within the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It has an area of about 50 km².

Franzosenwoog is a former reservoir in Pfälzerwald, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It was created around 1828 to facilitate timber rafting on the nearby Hochspeyerbach and ceased to exist around 1885.

The Hohe Bühl is a hill in the northern Palatine Forest in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, with a height of 444 m above sea level (NN). The hill straddles the parishes of Enkenbach-Alsenborn to the west and Carlsberg to the east and there is a small viewing tower at the top of its domed summit. The A 6 motorway from Saarbrücken to Mannheim runs past the top of the hill just to the south; this is the highest point on the motorway. The Eisbach river, a tributary of the Rhine, rises on the northern slopes of the mountain at a height of about 290 m above NN. Two kilometres downstream it is impounded to form the Eiswoog lake.

The Isenachweiher in the Palatinate Forest (Rhineland-Palatinate) is a reservoir on the River Isenach, a left tributary of the Rhine. Such reservoirs are called woogs in this region.

Fischbach is a municipality in the district of Kaiserslautern, in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany.

Hochspeyer station – originally officially Neuhochspeyer or Neu-Hochspeyer – is the station of the town of Hochspeyer in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Deutsche Bahn classifies it as belonging to category 4 and it has four platform tracks. The station is located in the network of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar (Rhine-Neckar transport association, VRN) and belongs to fare zone 100. Its address is Bahnhofstraße 1.It is located on the Mannheim–Saarbrücken railway, which essentially consists of the Palatine Ludwig Railway (Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn, Ludwigshafen–Bexbach). It became a junction station on 29 October 1870, with the opening of the Alsenz Valley Railway (Alsenztalbahn) to Winnweiler; half a year later this line was extended to Bad Münster. The importance of this line, however, fell with the opening of Kaiserslautern–Enkenbach railway a few years later. Since December 2003, it has also been a stop for lines S1 and S2 of the Rhine-Neckar S-Bahn.

The Kieskautberg is a hill located two kilometres south of the German village of Carlsberg in the east of the Diemerstein Forest, which is part of the northern Palatine Forest. The boundary between the collective municipalities of Freinsheim (south) and Grünstadt-Land (north) runs over the hill. The hill is covered by mixed forest. Its summit is accessible from Hertlingshausen by a footpath managed by the Palatine Forest Club, which is marked by a red circle .

The Eiswoog is a reservoir, roughly six hectares in area, on the Eisbach stream, locally also called die Eis, in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is oriented from south to north in the water meadows near the source of the stream in part of the northern Palatinate Forest known as the Stumpfwald.

The Palatinate campaign (30 August 1620 – 27 August 1623), also known as the Spanish conquest of the Palatinate or the Palatinate phase of the Thirty Years' War was a campaign conducted by the Imperial army of the Holy Roman Empire against the Protestant Union in the Lower Palatinate, during the Thirty Years' War.
