Middleton Hall, Middleton, Northumberland

Middleton is a settlement and civil parish in Northumberland, England. The parish is situated on the North Sea coast, south of the island of Lindisfarne, and contains the villages of Ross, Detchant and Elwick; all are shrunken medieval villages. Both the A1 London to Edinburgh road and East Coast Main Line pass through the parish. In the 2001 census the parish had a population of 136, falling to 115 at the 2011 Census.

Belford is a village and civil parish in Northumberland, England, about halfway between Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed, a few miles inland from the east coast and just off the Great North Road, the A1. At the 2001 census it had a population of 1,055, increasing to 1,258 at the 2011 Census.Belford is surrounded by rich pastoral farmland, and to the west of the village is found one of the better rock climbing locations in the county, Bowden Doors.

Belford Hall is a Grade I listed building, an 18th-century mansion house situated at Belford, Northumberland. The Manor of Belford was acquired by the Dixon family in 1726, and in 1752 Abraham Dixon built a mansion house in a Palladian style to a design by architect James Paine. In 1770 heiress Margaret Dixon married William Brown. Their daughter later married Newcastle upon Tyne merchant, Lt. Col. William Clark, Deputy Lieutenant and High Sheriff of Northumberland who, in 1818, remodelled the house and added two new wings, with the assistance of architect John Dobson. An extensive park, created in the mid 18th century, retains several original features and has been designated a conservation area. An 18th-century folly in the park is a Grade II listed building. During World War II the Hall was requisitioned by the army and became neglected and dilapidated. In the 1980s it was acquired by the Northern Heritage Trust, renovated, restored, and converted to residential apartments. A golf course was created on a part of the park.

Buckton is a small village in Northumberland, North East England, located just over 5 km north of Belford.Buckton consists of a farm and a few cottages. Buckton is the site of a medieval deserted village, which was first recorded in 1560, but had shrunk in size by the mid-18th century. The farmhouse dates from the 18th century and has a walled garden. The remains of a late medieval dovecote (Grade II listed) are located to the north of the farm. Buckton Burn flows close to the settlement.Thomas Gregson, second premier of Tasmania, was born in Buckton.

The parish touched Adderstone with Lucker, Bamburgh, Belford and Middleton. The parish is coastal and stretches from Budle Bay in the east to Chesters Hill.

Colour Heugh and Bowden Doors are two crag rock formations in north Northumberland in North East England, designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The 11.3 hectares (28 acres) site is described as "arguably the most impressive exposures of the early-mid Dinantian Fell Sandstone Group in the whole of northern England".

Belford railway station is a disused station situated on the East Coast Main Line between the current Chathill and Berwick-upon-Tweed stations serving the village of Belford. It opened on 29 March 1847, closing on 29 January 1968. Today only the northbound station building remains.After a 2010 plan to rebuild the station did not proceed, in 2015, Berwick Town Council allocated £100,000 to investigate reopening the station. The local rail user group SENRUG has been campaigning since September 2016 to have local services on the Newcastle - Berwick - Edinburgh corridor increased with regular local commuter services extended northwards from Morpeth to Berwick-upon-Tweed and Edinburgh. As part of this campaign they have proposed that the former station at Belford should be reopened so as to improve public transport access to the Northumberland Coast and St Cuthbert's Way.In March 2020, a bid was made to the Restoring Your Railway fund to get funds for a feasibility study into reinstating the station. This bid was unsuccessful.

Fenwick is a small hamlet in the civil parish of Kyloe near Berwick-upon-Tweed and has a population of approx 400. Fenwick lies only three miles from Holy Island, Lindisfarne and the world-famous heritage coastline. Fenwick lies alongside St Cuthberts Way, on which the monk St Cuthbert made his passage through Fenwick to the Holy Island. Fenwick's location meant it saw its fair share of skirmishes during the border raids from Scots.

Bellshill is a village in Northumberland, in England. It is situated to the south-west of Bamburgh, inland from the North Sea coast.
