St Bartholomew's Church, Kneesall

Kneesall is a village and civil parish in the East Midlands of England in the county of Nottinghamshire. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 221. Forming part of the Newark and Sherwood district, Kneesall is situated on the A616 between Newark-on-Trent and Ollerton. The village is three miles from neighbouring Eakring and four miles from Laxton. Kneesall has a small C of E primary school teaching children from many of the surrounding villages, and making up a part of the 3KANDO network, along with Averham, and Dean Hole C of E Primary. Kneesall was once well known for its one pub, The Angel Inn. The Angel has changed management multiple times in the last decade, most recently reopening in summer 2014. Though having no shops, the village did have a post office, that was closed in 1995. The centre of the villages activities are in the Church, which in 2004 was partly converted into the Bill Helmsley Community Centre, which continues to host local clubs and many events. Kneesall is home to Old Hall, built c. 1515–1540 and likely to be the oldest brick building in Nottinghamshire.There was a windmill beside the Newark Road, marked on a 1774 map, which replaced an earlier mill known as Mettam's Mill. In 1795 the mill belonged to William Taylor.Though Kingston farm has not been active in Kneesall since 2003, Kneesall is surrounded by open fields that are still farmed by a contractor producing crops such as wheat and rape seed, and still has a dairy farm, providing milk for local villages. The village, though having a 30 mph speed limit throughout, has seen many car accidents, some of which have been fatal.

Cratley is a lost village in Nottinghamshire, England. It may have been located close to North Laithes Farm at Kneesall although an alternative site east of Laund Wood has been suggested. Each Ploughteam had 8 Oxons. Head of the Manor: Wellow. which makes Cratley a Sub Manor of the Lordship of Wellow in Nottinghamshire, England. Soon after the foundation of Rufford Abbey by Gilbert de Gant, on 12 July 1147,The Village of Cratley was reduced to a grange and the villagers gradually evicted and resettled at Wellow.

Ompton is a village in Nottinghamshire, England, three miles south-east of Ollerton. It is in the civil parish of Ompton, but for census purposes its population count is included together with the civil parishes of Laxton and Moorhouse, and Ossington..Kneesall lies to the southwest, and Wellow to the north west . It has a red-brick chapel of 1860. About half a mile to the west is a water pumping station, built 1965–68 as a tiled pyramid on a glazed plinth.

Beth Shalom (lit. "House of Peace"), also named the National Holocaust Centre and Museum, is a Holocaust memorial centre near Laxton in Nottinghamshire in England. Opened in 1995, it is England's only dedicated Holocaust museum, though there is also a permanent exhibition at London's Imperial War Museum and another in Huddersfield, the Holocaust Exhibition and Learning Centre, which was opened in 2018. The centre was founded by brothers James and Stephen Smith following a 1991 visit to Israel during which a trip to Yad Vashem changed the way they looked at history and the Holocaust.The museum seeks to educate primary school children about the Holocaust through its primary exhibit on children's experiences, funded in part by a lottery grant of nearly £500,000. Prince Harry was educated about the Holocaust at the Centre after he was criticised for wearing a Nazi armband as part of an Afrika Korps costume to a fancy dress party.On 21 July 2010, almost twenty years after the Beth Shalom Holocaust Centre was founded, James and Stephen Smith and their mother Marina were each awarded honorary degrees of Doctor of Letters (DLitt) by Nottingham Trent University.

Maplebeck is a village and civil parish in Nottinghamshire, England and located 6 miles north of the town of Southwell. It is surrounded by the villages and parishes of Caunton, Eakring, Kneesall, Kersall and Winkburn. It is one of only five villages in England to have a church dedicated to St Radegund and it is also one of only 51 Thankful Villages in England and Wales – those rare places that were spared fatalities in the Great War of 1914 to 1918. The parish church of St Radegund was extensively restored in 1898. 106 residents were reported at the 2021 census.

Laxton is a small village in the civil parish of Laxton and Moorhouse in the English county of Nottinghamshire, situated about 25 miles northeast of Nottingham city centre. In 1981 Laxton was sold to the Crown Estate, which is committed to maintaining the open field system. The population of the civil parish (including Ompton and Ossington) at the 2011 Census was 489.Laxton is best known for having the last remaining working open field system in the United Kingdom. Its name is recorded first in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Laxintone, and may come from Anglo-Saxon Leaxingatūn, meaning the 'farmstead or estate of the people of a man called Leaxa'. It is possibly the namesake of the town of Lexington, Massachusetts, and thus ultimately of all the other towns named Lexington in the United States.

Laxton Castle is a late 11th- or early 12th-century medieval castle located north of the village of Laxton in Nottinghamshire, England. According to an early 20th-century report by the British Archaeological Association, the site is notable not only as "the most striking specimen of a mount and court stronghold" in the area, but also for "the nearly perfect condition of its two courts", which made of it a valuable resource for study.The remaining earthworks and masonry ruins have since 2003 been the subject of study of archaeologists at Birmingham University and the University of Nottingham. The property on which the ruins rest was also the site of a 16th-century manor house known as Laxton Hall.

Laxton and Moorhouse is a civil parish in the Newark and Sherwood district, within the county of Nottinghamshire, England. It consists of two settlements: A village, Laxton A hamlet, Moorhouse.The parish was previously known as Laxton until 1990 when Moorhouse was included in the title.

Boughton railway station served the village of Boughton in Nottinghamshire, England from 1897 to 1955 when it was closed. It has since been razed to the ground.
