The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) is a missionary religious congregation in the Catholic Church. It was founded on January 25, 1816, by Eugène de Mazenod, a French priest later recognized as a Catholic saint. (Oblate means a person dedicated to God or God's service.) The congregation was given recognition by Pope Leo XII on February 17, 1826. As of January 2020, the congregation was composed of 3,631 priests and lay brothers usually living in community. Their traditional salutation is Laudetur Iesus Christus ("Praised be Jesus Christ"), to which the response is Et Maria Immaculata ("And Mary Immaculate"). Members use the post-nominal letters, "OMI". As part of its mission to evangelize the "abandoned poor", OMI are known for their mission among the Indigenous peoples of Canada, and their historic administration of at least 57 schools within the Canadian Indian residential school system. Some of those schools have been associated with cases of child abuse by Oblate clergy and staff.: 399–452 

Cahokia Downs was an American horse racing track located on Highway 15 near the town of Alorton, St. Clair County, Illinois. Run by the East St. Louis Jockey Club, the facility opened in 1954 and hosted both Standardbred harness racing and Thoroughbred flat racing events. At Cahokia Downs on October 18, 1978, jockey David Gall became the first rider in United States Thoroughbred horse racing to win eight races on a single racecard.In October 1979 the Illinois Racing Commission refused to authorize any 1980 racing dates for Cahokia Downs and on April 2, 1980 the business filed for bankruptcy. The track never reopened.

Centreville was a city in St. Clair County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,309 in 2010, down from 5,951 at the 2000 census. On May 6, 2021, the city ceased to exist, being incorporated into the new city of Cahokia Heights.

Westview is an unincorporated community in Stookey Township, St. Clair County, Illinois, United States. Westview is located on Illinois Route 163, 7 miles (11 km) south-southeast of East St. Louis.

Frank Holten State Recreation Area is an urban Illinois state park on 1,080 acres (437 ha) in unincorporated Centreville Township, St. Clair County, Illinois, United States. It is located less than five miles southeast of the Gateway Arch in Greater St. Louis. The park is bisected by Interstate 255.

Alorton (formerly Alcoa) was a village in St. Clair County, Illinois, United States. Incorporated in 1944, it was one of three municipalities that merged to form the city of Cahokia Heights on May 6, 2021; the other two were the village of Cahokia and the city of Centreville. Prior to merger, Alorton had a population of 1,566 and land area of 1.8 square miles (4.7 km2) in the 2020 Census.Alorton was home to Cahokia Downs, an American horse racing track located on Highway 15 which hosted both Standardbred harness racing and Thoroughbred flat racing events from 1954 until 1979.The name Alorton is most likely an abbreviation of "aluminum ore town".

Signal Hill is an unincorporated community in Centreville Township, Stookey Township, and the city of Belleville, St. Clair County, Illinois, United States. Signal Hill is located on Illinois Route 157, approximately 11 miles (18 km) southeast of St. Louis, Missouri. Signal Hill dates back to 1904, during the Saint Louis World Fair, when the Signal Hill Park addition was platted. The tree-lined, island separated, boulevard is the centerpiece of the community filled with large, elegant homes dated to the creation of the community.

Stookey Township is a township located in St. Clair County, Illinois. It is an unincorporated part of Belleville, Illinois located just west of downtown Belleville, for that reason it is often referred to by locals as Belleville West. As of the 2010 census, its population was 10,007 and it contained 4,394 housing units.Residential homes and small businesses occupy the region along with occasional shopping centers. The township rides along Illinois Route 13 and converges with Illinois Route 15 and Illinois Route 159. The ZIP codes for the township is 62223 & 62260. Grizzlies Ballpark is a minor league baseball facility in Sauget, Illinois, that serves as the home ballpark for the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League. Grizzlies Ballpark features reserved box seating, lawn seating, party suites, two hot tubs, and a section of bleacher seating. With the bleacher section added in 2004, the stadium's capacity has increased to 6,000 fans. In 2004, the Grizzlies became the first team in Frontier League history to draw over 200,000 fans for a season, finishing with a league best 217,500. ProGrass synthetic turf was installed in January 2012. Grizzlies Ballpark was built in time for the start of the 2002 season, under the original name of GMC Stadium. It was renamed GCS Ballpark for the 2006 season. When that naming rights deal ran out before the 2023 season it became Grizzlies Ballpark.Grizzlies Ballpark hosted the 2008 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship. The stadium hosts the annual wood-bat college baseball game between the Billikens of Saint Louis University and the Salukis of Southern Illinois University. The ballpark also serves as the home field of Webster University's baseball team. It was home field for the now-defunct Lindenwood University – Belleville. Grizzlies Ballpark sells a unique food item called "Baseball's Best Burger", a variant of the Luther Burger. It consists of a bacon cheeseburger with a Krispy Kreme Original Glazed doughnut used as a bun. The ballpark and the burger were showcased in a special baseball-themed episode in season 2 of the Travel Channel's Man v. Food along with their nachos.

East Saint Louis Senior High School is the only high school located in East St. Louis, Illinois. The school serves about 1,438 students in grades 9 to 12 in the East Saint Louis Public Schools district. It was featured in the Jonathan Kozol book Savage Inequalities. In 1998, East St. Louis Lincoln High School consolidated with East St. Louis High.

Centreville Township is located in St. Clair County, Illinois. As of the 2010 census, its population was 25,386 and it contained 10,535 housing units. Centreville Township was formed from Centreville Station when it was subdivided on March 5, 1910.

Fairview Heights is a St. Louis MetroLink station. This station is located on the western edge of Fairview Heights, Illinois and is primarily a commuter station with 853 park and ride spaces and 45 long-term spaces. The station is a large transfer for Illinois MetroBus routes and is the eastern terminus of the Blue Line. The station and its adjoining transit center are located at the intersection of St. Clair Avenue and Illinois Route 161. Fairview Heights is the northernmost station served by the St. Clair County Transit District's MetroBikeLink shared-use path system. This 3.5 miles (5.6 km) section opened in 2019 and follows the old CSX rail alignment and Schoenberger Creek through hills and hollers of the Dutch Hollow area of Belleville and Fairview Heights. This section of trail connects to the other 11.5 miles (18.5 km) of MetroBikeLink for a total of 14 miles (23 km) of paved trails along MetroLink in St. Clair County, Illinois.
