West Puente Valley (pronunciation) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Los Angeles County, California, USA, northwest of La Puente. The population was 22,636 at the 2010 census, up from 22,589 at the 2000 census. The community is probably named for its location related to the city of La Puente.

Bishop Amat Memorial High School is a co-ed Catholic high school serving the San Gabriel Valley in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and was founded in 1957. The campus is located in La Puente, California, approximately 20 miles (32 km) east of downtown Los Angeles in Los Angeles County. The coeducational student body comprises approximately 1,520 students in grades 9 through 12, making Bishop Amat the largest private high school in Los Angeles County.

KTNQ (1020 AM) is a radio station licensed to Los Angeles, California, with a Spanish news/talk format. It is owned by Latino Media Network; under a local marketing agreement, it is programmed by former owner TelevisaUnivision's Uforia Audio Network. From its original licensing on March 13, 1925 until 1955 it was called KFVD. The station has studios on the Univision Broadcast Center building located on 5999 Center Drive (near I-405) in West Los Angeles, and the transmitter is located in the City of Industry. The station was originally restricted in its broadcast hours, signing off at local sunset to protect 1020 KDKA Pittsburgh from nighttime sky wave interference. Later, the FCC allowed geographically spread daytime stations to operate at night with a directional pattern away from the previously protected station. 1020 kHz in Los Angeles was then allowed to operate as a 24 hour station.

KEIB (1150 AM) is a commercial radio station in Los Angeles, California. Owned by iHeartMedia, the station brands itself as The Patriot, and broadcasts a talk radio format. The station's studios are on West Olive Avenue in Burbank. By day, KEIB is powered at 50,000 watts, the maximum for commercial AM stations in the U.S. At night, to minimize interference to other stations on 1150 AM, it reduces power to 44,000 watts. The transmitter uses a directional antenna with a four-tower array, located in the City of Industry.

Sierra Vista High School (SVHS) is a four-year comprehensive high school located in Baldwin Park, California. It opened in 1961 and is part of the Baldwin Park Unified School District. It is one of three high schools in the city, Baldwin Park High School and North Park Continuation School being the other two. Feeder schools include Sierra Vista Junior High School (7–8), Olive Middle School (6–8), and Jones Junior High (7–8) and Santa Fe (3–8). The school colors are Red and Black. The school mascot is a Don. The Dons are part of the Montview League for most sports. The top sports are Wrestling, Baseball, Boys' and Girls' soccer, Boys' and Girls' Track & Field, and Football . Students can join over 50 academic and social clubs.School Mission: SVHS provides a 21st-century education that emphasizes critical thinking, communication, and respect for diversity, in a safe and positive environment, supported by collaborative community involvement, in order to create successful, college-prepared and career ready citizens. In the 2012-2013 school year, a new three-story building was completed and opened for classes to be held. In late 2017, H. Vincent Pratt became the interim principal.

Latin American Bible Institute, California (LABI) is a private coed Bible college in the Avocado Heights district of La Puente, California. It was founded in 1926. In 1950 the institute moved to its current location in La Puente.The institute was granted an exception to Title IX in 2016 which allows it to legally discriminate against LGBT students for religious reasons. It is ranked among the "Absolute Worst Campuses for LGBTQ Youth" by Campus Pride.

Rancho La Puente was a ranch in the southern San Gabriel Valley that measured just under 49,000 acres (200 km2), and remained intact from its establishment in the late 1700s as an outpost of Mission San Gabriel until about 1870. By modern landmarks, the ranch extended from San Gabriel River on the west to just west of the 57 Freeway on the east and from Ramona Boulevard/San Bernardino Road on the north to the Puente Hills on the south. All but 40 acres (160,000 m2), which fall within Orange County, are within Los Angeles County. Today, the present communities of Avocado Heights, Bassett, Baldwin Park, San Dimas, Rowland Heights, Hacienda Heights, City of Industry, La Puente, Walnut, Covina, West Covina, and small sections of South El Monte and Irwindale are contained within the old boundaries of Rancho La Puente.

Walnut Creek is an urban stream in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California, and is a tributary of the San Gabriel River. The creek begins at the Puddingstone Dam of Puddingstone Reservoir in Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park and flows westward for about 13 miles (21 km), through San Dimas, Covina, West Covina and Baldwin Park, to join the San Gabriel River in El Monte. The major tributaries of Walnut Creek are Live Oak Wash (which flows into Puddingstone Reservoir), Charter Oak Creek in Covina, Vine Creek in West Covina and the Big Dalton Wash. Live Oak Wash and Big Dalton Wash carry runoff from the San Gabriel Mountains, and are prone to flooding due to heavy orographic precipitation events in winter. After devastating flooding in the early 20th century, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works built Puddingstone Dam in 1928 and channelized Walnut Creek and most of its tributaries. However, the first 2 miles (3.2 km) of the creek, in Walnut Creek County Park near San Dimas, are free-flowing and run within a deep wooded canyon.Walnut Creek is a perennial stream, with a significant portion of its flow made up of urban runoff. During dry summers, it provides most of the flow in the San Gabriel River below their confluence. This is due to diversion of the San Gabriel River upstream for groundwater recharge of the San Gabriel Valley aquifer. However, the creek can still dry up during years of particularly poor rainfall. Raging Waters Los Angeles is located adjacent to Walnut Creek just below Puddingstone Dam.

The Donut Hole is a bakery and landmark in La Puente, California. An example of programmatic architecture, the building is shaped like two giant donuts through which customers drive to place their orders. The bakery is one of the most photographed donut shops in the United States.

Edgewood High School is a secondary school located in West Covina, California and is serviced by West Covina Unified School District. Previously a high school and now once again one, it shares its campus with Edgewood Middle School. The newly started high school's first graduating class was the class of 2014, which was the only class on campus when the school first opened in 2010.

Avocado Heights (pronunciation) is an unincorporated census-designated place (CDP) in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, California, United States. It is almost entirely surrounded by the City of Industry with only a small strip of unincorporated Los Angeles County separating it from South El Monte. It is in close proximity to both the Pomona (SR-60) and San Gabriel (I-605) freeways. To the west is the San Gabriel River and the California Country Club. Avocado Heights is approximately 15 miles (24 km) from the downtown Los Angeles Civic Center. The population was 15,411 at the 2010 census, up from 15,148 at the 2000 census. A significant portion of Avocado Heights remains equestrian and semi-rural, with many homes on lots of 0.5 acres 21,780 square feet (2,023 m2) or more. The proximity of polluting industries in what became the City of Industry, as well as the Puente Hills Landfill, suppressed property values throughout the post-World War II era—discouraging the development that transformed most of the San Gabriel Valley into a relatively densely developed suburban area.
