The Sonian Forest or Sonian Wood (Dutch: Zoniënwoud, French: Forêt de Soignes) is a 4,421-hectare (10,920-acre) forest at the southeast edge of Brussels, Belgium. The Sonian Forest was a favorite hunting ground of the Habsburg Imperial family, and as such features prominently in some famous Renaissance works of art such as the Hunts of Maximilian tapestries in the Louvre. The forest lies in the Flemish municipalities of Sint-Genesius-Rode, Hoeilaart, Overijse, and Tervuren, in the Brussels-Capital Region municipalities of Uccle, Watermael-Boitsfort, Auderghem, and Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, and in the Walloon towns of La Hulpe and Waterloo. Thus, it stretches out over the three Belgian Regions. It is maintained by Flanders (56%), the Brussels-Capital Region (38%), and Wallonia (6%). There are some contiguous tracts of privately held forest and the Kapucijnenbos, the "Capuchin Wood", which belongs to the Royal Trust. As of 2017, parts of the Sonian Forest have been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the only Belgian component to the multinational inscription 'Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe'.

The International School of Brussels (ISB) is an English-language international school that provides an international education to over 1350 students aged 3–18 from over 70 countries. Its 40-acre (16 ha) campus lies in the Brussels commune of Watermael-Boitsfort, about 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) southeast of the city centre, and 21 km from Brussels International Airport

Hoeilaart (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦuilaːrt]) is a municipality in the province of Flemish Brabant, Belgium. The name Hoeilaart is of Gallic-Celtic origin, coming from "Ho-Lar," meaning a high clearing in the woods. Residents are called Hoeilanders or Doenders. The municipality only comprises the town of Hoeilaart proper. On January 1, 2019, Hoeilaart had a total population of 11,325. The total area is 20.43 km² which gives a population density of 493 inhabitants per km². Hoeilaart also sometimes called "The Glass Village" because of the greenhouse grape cultivation that once took place. The official language is Dutch. Local minorities consist of nationals from many European union-countries, USA and Canada, and numerous French-speakers. 38.1% in 2004 according to the birth statistics of the ONEM agency. 41.6% speak Dutch; the rest speak foreign languages.

The Royale Belge former headquarters is a functionalist building from 1967 to 1970, located in Watermael-Boitsfort (Brussels).

Watermael-Boitsfort (French) or Watermaal-Bosvoorde (Dutch) is a residential suburb of the city of Brussels in Belgium, and one of the 19 municipalities which form the Brussels-Capital Region. The municipality has a total area of 13 square kilometres (5.0 sq mi) of which 58 percent is covered by the Sonian Forest (Forêt de Soignes or Zoniënwoud). It borders the municipalities of Uccle, Auderghem and Ixelles as well as the province of Flemish Brabant. In 2006 the municipality had a total population of 24,056. In common with all of Brussels' municipalities, it is legally bilingual (French–Dutch).

The Enfants Noyés Nature Reserve (French: Réserve naturelle des Enfants Noyés, commonly called the Étangs des Enfants Noyés; Dutch: Vijvers van de Verdronken Kinderen) is a nature reserve consisting of three large ponds located in a valley of the Sonian Forest in Brussels. The nature reserve consists of three distinct ponds: The Étang du Fer à Cheval (The Horseshoe Pond), the Étang des Canards Sauvages (The Wild Ducks' Pond) and the Étang du Clos des Chênes (The Oak's Clos Pond).

Boitsfort railway station (Dutch: Station Bosvoorde) is a railway station located in the municipality of Watermael-Boitsfort in Brussels, Belgium and operated by the SNCB/NMBS. It is on the line 161 connecting Brussels and Namur, between the stations of Watermael and Groenendaal. The Boitsfort railway station can be accessed via the Chaussée de La Hulpe/Terhulpsesteenweg next to the Sonian Forest and the Boitsfort Hippodrome. Many companies have offices nearby the station, for instance Emakina, Asahi Glass Co. and SAP AG.

Solvay Castle (French: Château Solvay, also called Château de La Hulpe), is a château located in Wallonia in the municipality of La Hulpe, Walloon Brabant, Belgium. Completed for the Marquis Maximilien de Béthune as an imposing manor house on the outskirts of Brussels in the 1840s, the castle stands on a hill overlooking a lake set in a park with mature trees covering more than 220 hectares. In 1893, the estate was purchased by the rich industrialist Ernest Solvay, who renovated the park and extensively remodeled the castle from its initial Flemish neo-Renaissance theme to a more elegant look with a French formal garden.The remainder of the farm was designed in a charming English theme, with rhododendrons, azaleas and forest of a number of species, including huge redwoods and oak trees. A broad lake was built with planned alleyways and vantage points providing a views of the forests. The entire property was given to the Regional Government of Wallonia in 1968 on the basis that it should be used for educational purposes. There are three five kilometers of walks on the property. After the donation of the property to the government, the government allowed the Belgian Artist Jean-Michel Folon to open a museum in the park in 2000. After the artist died in 2005 it became The Fondation Folon. Inside the park is a non-profit organization, an equestrian center specialized in the relation between disabled persons and horses. Different events have been organized throughout the year in the park. As an example, in August 2019 the Supertramp musician Roger Hodgson made a concert in the park to celebrate the 40 years of the Supertramp album "Breakfast in America".

Dry Borren (French: Trois-Fontaines; Latin: Tres Fontes) is a historic site in the Sonian Forest in the municiaplity Auderghem, Belgium. It was originally a hunting lodge of the dukes of Brabant, built on a site where three springs originated.

The CBR Building is a functionalist office building situated in Watermael-Boitsfort, a municipality of Brussels, Belgium. Designed by the architects Constantin Brodzki and Marcel Lambrichs and built between 1967 and 1970, its prefabricated modular facade showcases white concrete instead of hiding it as a construction material, classifying the building as a New Brutalist piece of architecture. In November 2018, it was added to the list of protected heritage within the Brussels-Capital Region.

Rouge Cloître (French) or Rood-Klooster (Dutch) is a former Augustinian Priory, founded in 1367. It is located in the Sonian Forest, in south-eastern Brussels, Belgium. It was abolished in 1796. Today, it is administered from Auderghem, which is a commune of Brussels. This area on the edge of the forest, surrounded by lakes through which the Roodkloosterbeek (Rouge-Cloître stream) passes, has been called the Rouge-Cloître estate from the 16th century until the present day. It was used for hunting in the 16th and 17th centuries and today is popular with nature-lovers and ramblers.

Jezus-Eik (in French: Notre-Dame-au-Bois) is a village in the municipality of Overijse in the province of Flemish Brabant, Belgium.
